How We Met
Spike was a semi feral who came to me as part of a clowder whose person that was feeding them died. He now lives inside and Sandra was rescued from the local shelter and was a foster until mom found out that she has HCM which made her unadoptable. She's totally happy living with mom and lives inside

hi sandra

How are you today.Mr.sun came out for us awhile today and I got to go out for a few minutes,I sure was glad to get back outside to explore, I got out and said hi ole mr.sun,sure glad to see you today!It was a little to cool for Missy to be out so she just stayed in,napped.Got to explore under all mousey bushes nothing there,ate grass,I love my grass,explored in the tall grass,I love doing that,mom said I must like to think I'm a Lion and hide in the grass,hehe!Then we came around the building where the groundhog hole is,did not see the groundhogs,but all of a sudden one of them darted out of the hole and almost ran right into moms leg,scared me so bad I ran into the fench and got my tail caught,mom said the groundhog was comming out to eat grass and did not hear us and ran right out in front of us,ole groundhog scared the fur off me and scared mom also,she said Spongie think I outta take after ole groundhog with mean ole cane,yep mom,thats the thing to do I said,but he might get you cause you can't run fast enough,them mom groundhog would come out on you,hehe!Ole thing made me pull the fur on my tail on that ole fence!I outta wack that thing when he sticks his head back out,hehe!Mom did not have her camera, would not have did any good as fast as that groundhog ran!Walked a little more,watched the birds, and Oreo,Spotty jumping through the tall grass,sat in mr.sun for a few minutes then mom said time to go in,so in we came.I took a race through the house,things went flying all over this time,mom said slow down Spongie,can't mom gotta get muscles in the ole legs,paws so I can run from ole groundhogs,hehe!Then out came ole pinching stick to clean up my mess I made in the floor,then he found 2 of our cat toys under the desk.Then mom could not find mr,innertube for me to carry,I was looking all over,mom fianlly found him sticking out from under the bed,guess I must have hid him there during the night,then I rested a little while with mom.Now I'm laying on my toy rug looking out the door,mr sun is gone and it looks like rain again,ole rain.Gang are all naping in thier usual spots.You should have heard Wicket take a run through the house today,he was sliding all over the wod floor,mom said it sounds like a little horse when Wicket takes a run,hehe! it was 61° today mom wants to know where the spring weather went...she changed sheets with our help of course then did laundry...tonight mom and dad went to their grand niece's 6 year birthday party mom bought her a top with a cat on it with matching shorts and a craft kit...mom and dad sat with their son and his family and they had a nice time...

Today is the day I first won my COTD Badge. 4/21/2010.My sister Callie was Queen of April 2010. I feel so special running for Queen in the same month my sister was Queen. We sure miss Callie.
Vetted shows –A licensed practicing veterinarian acting or the club must examine each cat or kitten including household pets and entries for sale or exhibition prior to benching and shall disqualify any cat that shows evidence of fungus, fleas ear mites, or any infectious or contagious condition.
Non-vetted shows-Any exhibitor, judge or show committee member suspecting any cat of having fungus, fleas, ear mites, or any infectious or contagious illness may report same to the show manager.
Show flyers shall indicate whether a show is Vetted or Non-vetted.

Thank you for all your support and pawing by my votey button. I appreciate all the votes I’m getting.
Now I will tell you my rescue story. Mom went outside to put food out for the ferals. She went to the side of the garage to put some food for the tom cat. He waits there and some of the others are closer to the house. Mom put his food in his dish, he always stood by mom when she poured his food. Then all of a sudden 3 kittens came running out from between the shed and garage. We were so hungry. Mom looked at the tom cat and said this is new. He just stood and watched us. Mom said he was a very good kitty. Then mom went in to get a carrier but we scattered. The next day she caught one of my sibs then saw the other one, she was very shy between the garage and shed. She slowly put food down for her to eat then with the other hand caught her. She took her in and put her in the room with my brother. She never saw me, I wasn’t there. The next day she could here me, I was meowing but I was caught in the neighbors yard and it was a mess with a doggy barking at me at the end of a rope. Mom kneeled in the alley and pulled the fenced up. Put some food out and I came running. She was able to get me then took the food to the tom cat. I was with my sibs. We went to the vet and got deflead and got medicine for our ear infections. We were under weight and was 4-5 weeks old. My brother was only a 1lb and my sister and I was 2 lbs. When mom brought us out to the front room I knew this was my furever home. I even got on the couch to let Callie know I wanted to stay. I never got real close, I knew she didn’t like that. She looked at me then went to sleep. I knew I was in. Mommy found a home after one month for my sibs. They are together and inside kitties. The lady that adopted them was a vet tech that just moved to Oceanside, Ca It’s at least an hour away from where we live.

You are very welcome. So glad we could help you celebrate your birthday. Lots of rain, thunder and winds last night! Some areas got hail but we didn't notice any here. No sun out today. Day 7
Thank you for your support and your votey. I appreciate you coming by every day to visit me. I hope you are enjoying my catpaign and a look into cat shows.
It is fun and scary at the same time at the shows. People are coming by your benching cage looking at you and asking if they can take your picture. I think I should get a can of fancy feast mornings if they want my picture but does mom say that NOOOOO she just says yes. It’s not her picture they are taking. I know you all agree with me. I’m the Star.
You mostly see the same humans and kitties. Sometimes there are newbies and we help them with their cage set up and how it works. They bench a newbie with some of the kitties that have done shows for a while. I know not every kitty is cut out to be a show kitty. Mom knew I was the one. I will run to the door if I hear someone knocking. I just need to know who it is. I played with her nieces and nephews. Mom says I just have it. I don’t know what it is and I just might not want to have it. If Callie was here I know she would know what it is and would let us all know.
You can look under Cat Fancy Association or CFA and The International Cat Association or TICA to find shows in your area/region. You can find the information on showing and what you will need. I like getting a mew toy. Mommy and me time is the best. I don’t have to share mommy with my sisters. Of course they are alone while we are gone. Hehe
If you have been in a show, I would love to hear about it. I know some of you kitties have even won some rosettes. Let me know what category you show in too.

Day 3
Thank you for supporting me and pushing my votey button. I appreciate you stopping by to visit me. Thank you for putting me in your taglines too.
My first show was only 45 minutes away. I went to the groomer and was very good for Miss Bobbi. She gave me a bath and did my nails two days before the show.
Mom had to go and get a couple yards of material for my curtains and she was a yard short. MOL I have a benching cage I stay in while waiting to be judge. I need my curtains up so we don’t see the other kitties. I have a litter box that I don’t use, mom has food and water for me that I don’t eat or drink and my kitty bed with some toys. I do lay in my kitty bed. Don’t worry, it is normal for some kitties not to use the litter box, eat or drink during the show. Only my furriends that have been going to shows for years and to most of the shows eat and use the litter box. I do love my benching cage. When mom gets it ready then takes me out I jump into my cage. It’s safe in there. I also have another cage, it’s called the judges cage. It’s up by the judge. Mom has to listen for them to call the household pets and my number. I then go and get in the cage with my number on top and wait for the judge to get me out. Mom was nervous how I would react to my first judge but I just let him hold me and look at me. Mom didn’t get a picture because she was watching to make sure I didn’t take off. MOL
I was real nervous. The Del Mar show is very loud and there are so many people there to watch us. Yes, most of the people watch the Household pets. We always have the largest crowds watching us. Each judge is different. Household Pets do not have standards like the pure breeds. We do have to be at least 4 months old, not declawed, in good health with no evidence of fleas, ear mites, etc. Cats 8 months of age or older must be spayed/neutered. Nails should be clipped on all four paws before leaving for the show. HHP’s are judged on condition (general good health), uniqueness, temperament, and grooming. Most people bathe their pet one to two days before the show. The judges loved the household pets because it’s judges choice on who wins. I have one judge that has given me a rosette twice. He always says he picks the cats he would like to take home. I guess I’m real special. MOL
