It was a beautiful Summer day on a country road. The little kitten sat by the side of the road trying to figure out which way was home. Hours went by as she walked and tried to find her home. Many cars went by without stopping. Then a car stopped and a lady got out to pick up the kitten. She cuddled the baby, soothing her before she put her in the car. She couldn't keep the pretty Tabby Dilute, but she found a kind person who placed it in a loving furrever home. Her new Mom named her Kuira and introduced her to her adoptive Grandma Snowbell. Kuira the baby and Snowbell the Grandma soon bonded. Kuria has a secret -- she does not bathe herself, she waits for Grandma Snowbell to clean her up, MOL! VOTE BEACON 96770 COTD SATURDAY, MAY 16
BEACON is actually Mrs. Beacon, famous divorcee secret agent of "The Avengers" TV show who, like Mrs. Emma Peel of that show, was sent to live with her Mom and investigate all manner of things. However, the moniker was too long so she quickly trained her humans to call her BEACON. She is also a guiding light, like in the New England lighthouses. And, does she ever shine like a beacon of light with her beautiful orange and white coat!!!
She is a rarity, a female orange and white kitty, and knows how special that makes her. At the rescue in New York, she took advantage of being female and smaller than the males and planted herself firmly on her Mom's chest, just the perfect fit!!! Imagine a stray from the docks of the lower east side of NY being so people smart as to know which Mom was right for her - AND - to stare directly in her eyes with that "you WILL be mine" look. ~ ~ BEACON was about 4 or 5 when she was adopted and has become the perfect studio-sized cat, now age seven, in charge of the keyboard. She insists on a kiss before she will move then she supervises all computer activity from her speaker perch. YES, when you blog BEACON, she is right on top of things!!!
All kitties cover your ears - all Moms and Dads listen - Beacon jumps up on the barstool to get her claws clipped and all for a greenie!! Beacon 96770 is trying to make a deal with her Mom but so far is only partly successful. In exchange for more play time with the wand toy, she promises not to tear down the checkbook, checks and the rubber walrus that guards them. Yep, many mornings, Beacon lands in the bathroom for a time out after this little game. We told you she was a determined secret agent!!! Any bets on how soon that wand toy comes out when the bathroom door opens?
Beacon is a retriever of all things tossed. She gurgles at the pigeons outside of her window because they seem to tease her and she can't get to them. We started Beacon's story with a lighthouse and end it with her words: "Sending you greenies from this small boatlike apartment". .Make This VOTE SWEET..and Give NAP a TREAT ! Please Vote NAPPY # 68109 For COTM !.daily in Oct.....A CAT'S PRAYER....Now I lay me down to sleep, The king size bed is soft and deep... I sleep right in the center groove My human can hardly move! I've trapped her legs. she's tucked in tight And here is where i pass the night No one distubs me or dares intrude Till morning comes and "I want food!" I sneak up slowly to begin my nibbles on my human chin. She wakes up quickly, I have sharp teeth- And my claws I will unsheath For the morning's here and it's time to play I always seem to get my way. So thank you lord for giving me This human person that I see. The one who hugs me and holds me tight And sacrifices her bed at night...Author unknown...CORYDON INDIANA....A Southern Indiana Gang's day typically starts out with mom waking up at 6:30 in the morning. She then will open the front door, and Donnie will hop on in from the sunroom. Mom will pick up a can of cat food for Donnie, and he will rub against the can letting her know if he wants it. Then after she gives it to him, she grabs a pan, puts dry food on the bottom, a few cans of wet food on the top, and heads outside to feed the other kitties (Furball, Tanda, Poodles, Macy, Milo and Snoodles) and finds that she can not get down the steps since they are lined with cats. Then Tanda will run up on the sunroom, and mom will have to come back up and get Tanda away from Donnie's food. The, mom will have to come marching down the steps, making a lot of noise to get the other kitties to move. Then that chore is done. Several times throughout the day, mom will have to make trips outside to feed us and make sure Tanda is not fighting anyone. After that is done, it will usually be nightime. Mom will usually head outside before she goes to bed, and Donnie wil run in the house. Mom will have to chase him for a few minutes in order to get him outside. Once that is done, mom is ready for bed and falls to sleep instantly. PLEASE give a COTD vote of support WEDNESDAY, JULY 23rd to shy Mr. SHAI #21930 of Castro Valley,CA! Shy Mr. Shai's Mom is an Adoption Counselor and Cat Socializer at the city shelter. Once upon a time, a long time ago, she was socializing a painfully shy "scaredy cat". This fluffy Birman fella would just curl up in her arms and hide his face in the crook of her elbow. The shelter manager walked by making the rounds as she prepared "The Dreaded List" just as the fluffy fella was being put back in his cage. Shai's Mom jokingly asked if the shy Birman was on the list, figuring such a handsome fella could never meet such a fate. The Shelter Manager gave Shai's Mom "the look". The shy Birman boy did not "show well" due to his fears and the shelter was overflowing. Shai's Mom immediately volunteered to take the Birman home to foster, saving him from the euthanasia list that fateful day. The Birman Boy spent the first two weeks hiding his head in the crook of his foster Mom's elbow. By the end of two weeks, Shai's Mom had fallen in love with him and so adopted Shai furever! It was still months before he would take his head out from her elbow. So she named him Shai, which means "gift" in Hebrew and because he was just so shy. Shy Mr. Shai is still shy when strangers come over or sometimes when there are new rescue kitties like Mo. Currently, Shai shares the home with Jes, Socks, Mo and Smudge. Socks has been missing for a couple of days and his Mom is worried, praying for his return. Shai is best buddies with Smudge! You can see pictures of them together as they always hang out when Shai is not on his mom's lap. Shai sleeps right next to his mom's face at night or elsewhere on the bed with Smudge. Shai & his Mom have been together for over 6 years now and she will never let him go! Shai is very smart as he knows his name and when to come in at night.
