Maya
Zula is a rescue and didn't like her nails cut either. Since December '07, i've tried to make nail cutting a pleasant experience. It may take a while, but if you want to try it here is what I do.
Using meat only (no veggies mixed in) baby food (sml jar), I entice Zula into my lap. Some will get into the lap without going through this. Zula is 4 years old. Clip one nail. Immediately give a small amount of baby food. Clip next nail, immediately give another small amount of baby food. Continue this for as long as you can hoping to get all toes done. Next time nails need clipping, do the same steps above. If Maya remains calm after one nail, do the second nail and immediately give the baby food. In later sessions, try to get more nails clipped between treats (baby food). Eventually, Maya will be eager to get her nails clipped. I've had 12 cats respond to this method over time. One little girl (5 lbs) used to chase the larger boys away during nail clipping time; she wanted to be first.
Use meat baby food for this purpose only. Sometimes I hide medication in it to. If you have any questions, I'll be most happy to answer them.Come visit me, Michaela & Pasha.

Chausies
Got mine from a rescue. Zula's previous owner didn't want her anymore because she was going to breed dogs. Zula has had 5 litters of kittens before I adopted her. She is very affectionate and loves to hang out on the enclosed deck to watch birds and squirrels. Does Maya like to watch birds?Come visit me, Michaela & Pasha.
