How We Met

We first spotted Holly in the snow under our bird feeders right before Christmas. She was apparently looking for food. For a few weeks, she was a very wild and frightened kitty. We had to trap her in a live trap as we couldn't get close to her. It took quite a while to convince her that she was now safe and loved, but she is now the sweetest and most loveable cat one could ask for. Her most striking feature is her very large feet--extra toes on all four feet.

Wow, we had so much fun yesterday
that the pawty goes on! This COTD thing is getting to be a birthday tradition for me! I remember my very first badge, back in 2011 when Mike & Mallow arranged for a surprise campaign for my 10th birthday. We didn’t know back then just how important a part of our lives CC and our friends here was going to become, and we’re all very thankful to be part of this great big family!

It was pouring and blowing at my house, with winds gusting up to 37 mph and a road crew was out there for a few hours clearing a big fir tree that blew down across the road, just up the block. It’s a purrfect day for us all to gather by the fire in my cabin with fresh bread, catnip jam and hot apple cider. And of course great company!

Oh, I have had a ball celebrating these last couple of days! Thanks for being part of another very special day in my life here on CC ~ ♥ Evie

Thank you also for the goodies, balloons, flowers and cool gifts! I got xtra treats from momma, too!

Some of you have asked how often does momma groom me. Momma doesn't have to comb my fur but maybe once a month. I don't have issues with matted fur neither and my furrrmama Kittzi #160203 is the same.

Momma went to PetSmart Wednesday morning and brought me back a mew toy and a pretty pink collar! Momma has to take that collar back cuz it broke already!

Oh My! What a Kittilicious day for me! When momma came outside this morning (and a bit late) to feed us, she said "Congratulations my little Irish Girl, for Cat of the Day today!" I said "Meowha?" Momma and I was so surprised!

Momma gave me xtra pets and will give me xtra treats tonight. Momma buys the Royal Canin Dental for Felines and gives them to us outside Girls and Sonnjae for our treats every night at bedtime. They are so yummy!

Mom changed my profile picture to one she took of me a couple months after I came here to live. The picture was taken 2/10/2010. I have grown up more since it was taken! She also added a mew picture of me and Suezee #11528 sleeping together.

Thank you all for coming by to my pawty to help me Celebrate my 5th Cat of the Day today 11/01/2015! Also for all the most wonderful gifts, toys, flowers and your furrriendships!

Hi Holly & the Green Mountain Gang!
Whiskers COTD thanks; a day late, but filled with love....

Thanks to my family and furiends for another wonderful opportunity to be honored in the CC spotlight. My last COTD award was in January 2014, the day after beautiful Queen Talley became my wife, and I sadly thought it would be my last. If you recall, that was during the time when we thought CC was going to be shut down. I remember Talley and I were so grateful that CC was still up and running for our wedding.

Being honored as Cat of the Day means the world to my family and me; but what means even more, are the furiends I’ve made over the years on CC. Furiendship on Cat Channel is the greatest gift of all!

I left a vote with soft purrs, warm hugs and prayers for our furiends and their families in need.

A “CC Furiend” Unseen =^.^=
It’s strange to have a furiend
that you have never hugged
lightly touched their paw
or looked into their eyes.

But you have
touched their soul
felt their heart
been embraced by
the warmth of their being.

A furiend unseen
is not a furiend untouched.
The eyes of the soul will gaze
the heart will embrace.

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
After breakfast, Queen Talley stepped to the front of the great dining room, flanked on one side by Lady Quincy, and on the other by K Whiskers.
She turned on a wireless microphone and began to speak; “While we were aboard Luz de Luna, I promised you another adventure. We followed a trail of discovery that stretched from Columbus’s Arrival in the new world, to the stars and beyond at the Arecibo Radio Telescope, now we’re going to pursue another historic exploration, but this time it will be a rich history that is still being discovered.”
“As most of you know the Castle is a magical creation. It was created by angel kitties in the far distant past. As you’ve seen, the Castle provides what is needed at any given time. When my brother Pete was king he told me some amazing things, things like needing a reference book and looking on his desk.
As Queen, I’ve found that no matter how many kitties enter a room, it is never crowded. The pantries always have the ingredients that the chef’s need to prepare the wonderful meals that they serve us. The magic is powerful and has endured for many thousands of years. It’s not just the Castle that is magic, but our whole Empire.
I was a very young kitten when Pete was King, but I loved being here and I loved exploring the Castle. One day my friend Kuzenetsa and I were playing in the sub-basement and I found a loose shelf. I thought it might be dangerous to leave it loose like that, and so I decided to push it back against the wall. When I did, the shelf and the wall swung open to reveal a tunnel, far below the castle. Steps led down, and Kuzi and I followed them. We walked for a long ways, and came to a door. It was huge, with big iron hinges and I pushed it open easily. It was just the beginning of some remarkable discoveries.”
I showed my brother Pete what we had found and he organized a group of trusted friends to explore the mysteries left for us by our distant ancestors, to name just a few, of them, K Steve, K Mike, Angel Shai, Lady Dolly and well, too many to mention. Kitties at The Feline Studies Center have been cataloguing the discoveries for many years now and they have barely scratched the surface of what the Angel Kitties left for us to study. After speaking with my angel sisters, I have decided that now is the time for all of you to see and study our historical heritage. This afternoon Lady Quincy will see that you are all outfitted with the necessary clothes and gear to safely explore the tunnels. K Whiskers and K Pete will teach you how to do it safely.
Tomorrow morning, after church, I’ll lead you to what we have discovered so far and you can decide if you want to explore further. Ladies and Gentlecats, It is my profound honor to welcome you to the history of the Feline Empire!”

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
The seas were calm and the day was bright as the Luz de Luna approached the coast of Florida. The purchases that the kitties had made and all of their suitcases were all safely stored on pallets and ready to be loaded on to the truck that the Captain had arranged.
Talley had announced over breakfast, that another adventure was coming up, one that would take place on the grounds of the Castle. She wouldn’t elaborate, except to say that some of those present would recognize what they were going to see.
K Steve suddenly got a knowing look on his face, but held his tongue. He and Angel Shai exchanged a look and smiled.
Talley had discussed her idea with the family, when she had presented her plan, Angels Maggie, Lucy and Sylvie had given their enthusiastic approval. Pete and Whiskers had begun planning the logistics. The rest of the family pitched in to help plan this special event. Callie, Whitey and Orangie began to study all of the material that Talley had downloaded to their tablets.
The kitties speculated among themselves what the surprise could be. Some thought it would be a fabulous party, but others thought it would be more than that, Evie and Mojo both said that it would be pretty hard to throw any party better than those that they had enjoyed earlier in Talley’s reign.
Puzzle and PD Budd, had speculated that perhaps it involved some kind of spectacular scavenger hunt.
Lady Quincy knew what it was and she was excited, but could keep a Queen’s secret better than anyone.
For the moment though, the party aboard the Luz de Luna continued, they were approaching their berth at Dodge Island, and the tugs came alongside to ease the big ship to the pier.
When they were secured to the dock, the crew assembled on deck to bid their guests a fond goodbye, each of the kitties thanked each of the crew for an unforgettable cruise. Raven told the captain, that at the next scheduled dry-docking of the ship she wanted the crew to have extra paid vacation days to come and visit the family at their Angel Lake home.
The captain announced the news to the crew and there was a round of cheers and shouts of Hail to the Queen. There was a sincere general thank you from all of the crew directed to Raven as well. The crew was unanimous in their belief that they had never worked for a better run ship, or a better owner.
Angel Mallow had loaded the Hairballz Motorcycles aboard Feline Force One, many times. She was familiar with securing the loads properly, and now she directed the loading of the Pallets full of luggage and shopping.
Lady Quincy checked everyone in as they came aboard and Pete and Thundie ran the final checklists. Whiskers and Talley sat down and buckled up.
Once they had taken off, Talley addressed the guests, “I hope you’ve all had fun, and I know you’ll enjoy an evening at home. Tomorrow another adventure begins. I’ll see you all at the Castle for breakfast!”
There were cheers from everyone!

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
The kitties all ate a very hearty breakfast, thinking that they’d need a good meal to prepare them for the hike up the telescope.
As they were finishing their last bites, Lady Quincy tapped her glass for their attention. When the room was quiet she began to speak. “Alla you kitties, I has somthin’ to tell you. Before we get ona busses we need to put alla cell phones in rooms. Nothin that makes a radio signal can be on the mountain, cause it would disturb the receivers at the telescope. We wouldn’t wanna ruin any of the science speremints that they doing.”
There were a few grumbles and Flower asked, “What about our cameras, Lady Quincy, can we take them?”
Quincy looked in her notes and said, “We can take digital cameras as far as the visitor center, and we can buy disposable film cameras there, that we can take up the mountain. It says here that the telescope is so sensitive that it could hear the computers in digital cameras.” Quincy laughed and said, I only hear my camera say CLICK.”
Raven said, “Before we load into the motor launches, I’ll go to the ship’s photo shop and get disposable cameras for us. Hurry everyone, we don’t want to be late, Quincy has arranged a special tour for us and our guide will be waiting.”
The kitties already had their day-bags packed and were quickly helped aboard the motor launches. The sea was still a little choppy as a result of the previous evening’s squalls, and some of the kitties got a little salt spray on their fur. Kaomi and Q Mimi took turns dring each other with a towel.
Duke PD Budd, was making notes on a yellow pad, and was no doubt getting background material for the further adventures of Furlip Merlow.
The buses were waiting and the kitties quickly climbed aboard with Lady Quincy checking everyone off of her list.
The road from San Juan to Arecibo ran along the coast and the view was lovely, which was good, as it distracted the kitties from paying too much attention to the narrowness of road, or the steepness of the drop. At one point, when another bus was coming the other way, Pete closed his eyes and said a quick prayer.
When they arrived at the visitor center, Whiskers and Talley led everyone off the buses and into the modern building, where their guide met them. He bowed toward Talley and said, “Welcome your Highness.”
Talley thanked him and the tour began. They learned that telescope was constructed over a dormant volcano and that it produced such a mass of data that SETI at Home had been created to look for patterns. ( anyone who wished could sign up and use their computers to look for messages from deep space.
The climb up the mountain was tiring but the view was worth it! The great dish pointed at the sky and the stars beyond.
As they reboarded the busses, Talley said, we might have time for a little shopping in San Juan. All of the girls cheered and the guys just smiled at them

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
Columbus Lighthouse - Off The Coast of Hispaniola
The dining salon was lovely, white linen table cloths and fine china were laid out, and fresh flowers graced every table. Crystal Chandeliers moved gently as the ship slowed. While orders for dinner were being taken by the waiters, one of the ships officers approached the Queens Table and whispered something in Raven’s ear. She nodded and thanked him. She stood and went around the table where she bent down and whispered something to Talley something to Talley. Talley tapped her water glass, and said, “May I have your attention for just a moment. The second officer has just informed us that we are approaching Hispaniola, and there is a very lovely sight ahead of us. There is a lighthouse on the point that was built as a memorial to Columbus, the Faro a Colon, It’s built in the shape of a cross and projects a cross shaped beam of light into the sky at night. Whiskers told me this morning that he was hoping we might be able to see it from the ship. It appears that he got his wish”
Talley continued, “The monument's lighthouse-style features project beams of light, forming a cross shape, that are so powerful they can be seen from neighboring Puerto Rico. Whiskers also tells me that the lighthouse contains what are purported to be the remains of Columbus.”
Whiskers nodded eagerly and added, “The lighthouse is both a mausoleum and a museum. If we can just delay ordering our dinner, and step out onto the deck, we can see the first of many amazing sights to come. Please follow me.”
Talley led the large crowd up the stairs to the helicopter deck, where they would have a good view when the Captain swung the ship to port allowing an unobstructed view of the distant shore. There was a breeze coming across the deck that smelled of tropical flowers and the thin crescent moon cast a pale glow over the sea. There in the distance the lighthouse with its brilliant beam was clearly visible.
Mischief asked, “Will we be seeing it from land?”
Raven answered, “We’ll be taking a motor coach tour in the morning and the Columbus light is one of our first stops.”
They all watched the beautiful light for several sweeps and K Steve broke the mood, by saying, “It’s beautiful all right, but dinner is waiting.” There was a round of laughter and murmurs of agreement. They returned to the dining salon and took their seats. It seemed that the most popular menu entrée was the surf and turf, Florida lobster and Kobe beef, filet mignon.

Whiskers and Pete both ordered the Prime Rib, very rare and Talley and Neekah Boo decided on the broiled Red Snapper.
Lady Quincy ordered Jumbo Shrimp, stuffed with crabmeat and an appetizer of popcorn shrimp and calamari with a spicy dipping sauce. She laughed, “Jumbo Shrimp that like saying Giant Midget.”
Talley announced, “After dinner, we’ll be awarding the trophies from last night’s contest, but I’m going to spoil the suspense and tell you. Every one of you is a winner. You all get trophies!”
When the food was served and Old Tom, one of the elderly shelter kitties, stood and said, “I would like to propose a toast, first to Queens Maggie and Angel Ginger, The shelter that you created has made a difference in so many lives. I’ve spent most of my life wondering where my next meal would come from, and now I actually get to choose what I want to eat. It seems like a dream. Second I would like to toast Queen Talley, who has included all of us in this wonderful celebration of history. What has happened over these last months has saved and changed lives. The kittens will grow up knowing love and friendship, we all have shelter and health care, we all have a future. I raise my glass to our Queens!”
The huge hall answered the toast with a general “Here, here of approval and a round of applause. Talley stood and asked Queens Maggie and Angel Ginger to join her in a toast to the shelter kitties. They stood, and raised their glasses, Talley cleared her throat and said, “To new friends, now safe from the mean back alleys, the dangerous streets and dark forests, we pledge our friendship and our love.”
There was more applause and then after dinner there was trophy presentation and more dancing.
The party went on far into the night!

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
Thursday at sea enroute to Hispaniola
They were under way on beautiful blue Caribbean. The sea was calm and the ship was running smoothly. Talley and Whiskers sat at the poolside lounge holding paws beneath an umbrella. A small quadcopter whizzed by close to their table and Whiskers looked around to see, Tabitha laughing. She called, “I think I got a good shot of you and Aunt Queen Talley, Uncle Whiskers!”
Whiskers laughed, and said, “I thought you were trying to trim my whiskers.”
Tabitha landed the quadcopter on the deck, picked it up and walked over to their table, “I would never hit anyone with the quadcopter uncle Whiskers. The first thing it says in the instruction manual is to never fly it into people, animals or objects.”
Whiskers nodded, he should have known that his nieces and nephews would have read the instructions thoroughly and would heed them well. He said, “I wasn’t afraid Tabitha, I knew you wouldn’t hurt me, I was just teasing you.”
Tabitha hugged Whiskers and Talley and ran off to play.
Talley said, “The kids are having a good time, and I am too. It’s a lovely day and we’re making good time, we should be anchored off of Hispaniola by dinner time”
Whiskers leaned over and kissed Talley and said, “I’m having a wonderful time too. Flower showed me the memory book that they’re making while we’re on this trip. It’s fantastic. I think we should have copied as a book so that every kitty can have one.”
Talley smiled, “That’s a wonderful idea, Whiskers. We’ll do it.”
Hedley and Orangie were playing Shuffleboard with K Neelix and Katie, Jakar was the bar ordering drinks.
Pete and Neekah Boo were swimming in the pool, so were K Malachi and Ana. Mason Dixon and Chyna were at the base of the rock wall getting into the safety harness in preparation for an attempt to climb to the top.
The whole crowd seemed to be having a good time. Thundie came out onto the deck and announced that he and AQ Cherish were hosting a Dance Contest in the Main Deck Salon and any kitties were welcome to join in the fun.
K Mike & Lady Dolly both raised paws and Mike shouted, “Count us in!” Angel Mallow and Oscar Jon hurried to join up as did Angel Shai and Evie.
Thundie came over to Talley and asked, “We’d really appreciate it, if the two of you would be the judges for the contest.”
Talley accepted immediately, and Whiskers said, “I might have to see if the band knows any good swing music, or maybe I’ll ask them to play something special that Talley and I can dance to.”
Thundie grinned and said, “Let, me guess, ‘Till Then’?”
Talley laughed, “Oh Thundie you know us so well.”
K. Monty and Josie Mae, got up from their lounge chairs and Monty said, “We’ll be entering the Dance Contest too, we just need to change into some appropriate attire.”
Lady Quincy and Leo hurried to change, too.
The contest would be fun and Talley had already decided, that all of the contestants would be winners!

Hi Holly & Missy
Well..what can I tell you? CC seems to be better. I saw a blog on FB about CC and the Site Support Tech said that a lot of blogs had to be deleted so they could get it back in running order, and they apologized for inconvenience this may have caused. I purrsonally don't mind the missing blogs as long as I can blog my friends...getting caught up with our friends is easy enough, but I know that Queen Talley wanted to keep all her blogs in a special I hope she got them!

Today was so pawsome. 77* and sunny sunny sunny, and a bit breezy, too! Not a cloud up there, so we can see all the birds and planes that fly overhead!

Mom went out on her bike to the craft store cause she needed elastic to fix some of the waistlines on her skirts...some of them are falling down off mom cause she lost so much weight, so she is putting new elastic in them.

She also got a Plastic Canvas booklet to make more is a seasonal WELCOME kit that has WELCOME SUMMER, etc..for all the seasons and mom has to change them when the new seasons come....maybe she take a picture of it when it is all done, but she hasn't started it yet!

Thanks for the catgrats on my COTD last week. I sure was purrprised to see myself in the window! Thanks for the gifts. I love my CC Friends!

Have a pawsome evening!

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Q Talley
Snorkeling gear had been passed out and the ships stewards made sure that every kitty had their box lunch. Preparations for a snorkeling trip to the reefs were underway. Everyone had enjoyed the early morning trip to the site of Columbus’ landing. They’d taken lots of pictures and then returned to the ship to get ready for and afternoon on the reefs.
The motor launches were alongside and ready to receive the kitties.
They all had their gear and the kids had their quadcopters. They all settled in for the short ride. As both boats moved over a calm sea, Local guides hired by the Captain of the ship pointed out attractions and explained what species of fish they were likely to see. The boats anchored and the crew deployed the swim platforms over the stern. Whiskers helped Talley over the transom and sat beside her, and then they both slipped into the clear water. Talley shouted, “Come on in the water is fine. The kitties donned their snorkeling gear and followed the guides over the reef.
The reef teemed with colorful fish, and at one point the guide cautioned them that a Moray eel lived in a particular crevice and it wouldn’t be good to disturb him. The guide said, “He is a grumpy eel and has been known to bite anyone who disturbs him.”
Flower looked closely as they swam by at a distance, but couldn’t see the grump eel.
Each suite had been provided with a gift basket and each basket contained waterproof cameras. Pete had explained over breakfast, how to use them. The kitties took pictures of fish and each other. Flower, Timothy, Ralph and Rosie told their Guide that they were going back to the boat. The guide watched them until they were safely in the boat and then continued leading the rest of the kitties on their snorkeling adventure.
Once aboard the kids got the quadcopters ready to fly and began taking pictures of the kitties who were snorkeling.
Evie, Mojo and Angel Mallow had decided it was y=time to eat lunch and when they told their guide they were going back, he agreed that it was time for all of them to go back.
The snorkeling tour was a great success, and as the kitties came aboard Lady Quincy carefully checked her list and ticked off the names. Everyone was accounted for. On the other boat Ms Murphy had done the same job. Everyone was safe and sound.
They ate their lunch in the boats, talking excitedly about what they had seen. Flower loaded his memory card into his tablet and passed it around for the group to see the pictures. There was one of K Steve submerging where all that could be seen of him was his butt. He looked at the picture and said, “Oh! really nice, you caught my best side!”
Everyone laughed. Talley joined in thinking that K Steve made every party come to life.
Pete towel dried Neekah Boo and then she dried him. Pete was as happy as he had ever been.
They headed back to the ship for a night of fun.

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
It was late afternoon by the time that all of the kitties were aboard Feline Force One, winging their way to Castle Field. They would sleep in their own beds tonight and take care of whatever matters needed attending to at their homes. On Saturday it would be back on the big jet for a trip to the Cruise Ship Terminal on Dodge Island in Miami, where Raven’s Cruise Ship the Luz De Luna (which was given to Raven by Queen Lola and the Buenos Aries kitties) would be waiting at the dock for them. It was fully provisioned and crewed. (See a photo of the Luz De Luna on bottom of my page)
The first leg of their Journey would take them to San Salvador where they would pick up the trail of discovery taken by Christopher Columbus.
Talley told the kids, “This should be an interesting week for us, we’ll be learning about an Italian explorer, sailing for the King and Queen of Spain who, when he reached the Caribbean islands thought he had found India. He proceeded to name the inhabitants Indians. It all worked out okay for him though. First we’ll explore San Salvador the island he first landed on, and then we’ll sail to Hispaniola where he established the first settlement.”
Flower asked, Aunt Talley, isn’t Hispaniola the island that the Dominican Republic and Haiti are located on?”
Talley nodded. “It is indeed, Flower, when Columbus was on Hispaniola he began a dialogue with one of the local chiefs and the chief traded him gold jewelry for European goods. He invited the Chief and his family to dine on board the Santa Maria for Christmas Dinner. After the party, (where they may have had too much to drink) they all fell asleep and the Santa Maria ran aground on a reef. She was damaged too badly to repair. The Indians helped the sailors unload the supplies onto the shore. Columbus named the village Navidad (the birth) in honor of Christ’s Birthday. He sailed the Nina and Pinta back to Spain to report what he had found and he left twenty-four people behind in the new settlement.”
The kids were fascinated. They all took out their tablets and started researching the history of the discovery of America.
Whiskers had been listening and when the kids were busy over their studies, He told Talley, “Darling, you’d make a great teacher. The kids are really excited about learning!
Talley laughed and said “I am too; I’ve never been to San Salvador or Hispaniola.
Farther back in the spacious cabin, there was a lot of laughter, as the kitties discussed the incident at the cannon firing from the fort this afternoon. When the big guns were fired, Matanzas Bay was pelted with thousands of skittles. Many of the fruit flavored candies landed on boats, and the seagulls seemed to especially fond of them as they dived and dashed to and fro plucking them from the bay. Everyone looked at K Steve, who kept a perfectly straight face and admitted nothing.

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
Talley and Whiskers had decided that a trip to some of the historic sites in old St Augustine, would be both entertaining and educational. Their last day in St. Augustine would be a time for taking lots of photos and learning about the rich history of this old city.
Lady Quincy had started making arrangements right away. First on the tour would be the Castilio De San Marcos.
The kitties walked from the Marina along the Bayfront and to the ancient fortress. The Castillio is a National monument now and a Park Ranger, in period costume led them into the courtyard while explaining that the fort was designed in such a way that the towers on the four corners had a field of fire that allowed the defenders to prevent any attempt at scaling the walls with ladders or ropes with grappling hooks.
They ascended the stairs to the ramparts and K Steve examined the bronze cannons with some interest. The Ranger explained that during the Anniversary Celebration the cannons were fired every afternoon at four o’clock. K Steve looked into the barrels and saw that the cannons were already loaded. This is what he had been hoping for. As the tour moved on Steve opened his day bag and removed a dozen bags of Skittles. He reached a paw into the bore of each cannon, removed the wadding and inserted the Skittles. Replacing the wadding, he left the cannons looking as though they had never been tampered with.
They toured the Dungeons deep beneath the fort and heard how the Chief of the Seminole Indians, Osceola, had been imprisoned there. (He had been arrested when he came under a flag of truce to negotiate; it was a shameful act by the US soldiers) Talley was surprised to learn, that the Seminole nation, of all the tribes, had never signed a peace treaty with the US.
Flower and his sisters told their Aunt Talley and Uncle Whiskers that they intended to write a report for their History Class at school on the Seminole wars.
When the Tour of the fort was finished, the kitties boarded buses to take them to the St Augustine Lighthouse. The light had a rich history and a nice lady who portrayed the Light Keepers wife showed them through the house and grounds of the Lighthouse. The kitties all climbed over two hundred steps to the top of the light. The view was amazing! To the east the deep Blue Atlantic stretched away to the horizon, while in the west the City of St Augustine lay like a child’s playset, tiny buildings and busy streets spread out in a perfect picture. They took lots of photos and videos.
They had lunch at O’steen’s a restaurant that only served fried shrimp. Then they continued their sightseeing. They saw the Alligator Farm, Fort Matanzas (another Spanish fort south of the city) and Washington Oaks State Park. They would be returning to the Castle This evening, to continue the adventure.

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
Sorry about the confusion, on our St Augustine Trip.
I received this note from A K Easy and the VI Kitties,
“What a great trip ! BUT - we thought we were going on a ship. We still had a great time ! take it EASY ! Angels Easy & Trucker and Cashmere, Crush, Tessa, Elsa & Mercury.”
Well the blog was too long, and The Mewsroom has asked us not to post mult-part blogs there so I posted the second part of our Blog on the Cat’s Meow Resort page. 271826
In truth we did go on a ship, a wonderful recreation of a sixteenth century Spanish Galeon.
K Steve in his inimitable fashion made our arrival at the celebration, something for everyone to remember. (They’ll be shaking confetti out of their hair and clothes for some time.)
I suppose I may as well post the second half of our arrival at the celebration in my daily blogs to all of you, but not before telling you that tonight, My husband, Whiskers and my brother, Pete have reserved a very special restaurant for dinner. We’ll be going to Saltwater Cowboys. The food is fantastic fresh seafood, but what makes it so special is that there is a resident managed feral colony on the premises. All of the food that is left on plates is separated and taken to the kitties. The restaurant is built on pilings over the marsh and the kitties have shelters beneath the buildings and docks. So don’t spoil your appetites and feel free to order a little extra to leave for the kitties.
(I’ll post the rest of our arrival at the celebration below)
Love you all,

Now here’s what you missed: ----------------------
K Steve, looked down the row of cannons on the gun deck of the El Galeon. Each Canon had its own gun crew. Hedley Neelix and Jakar were ready, so were Thundie, Shaddie and JosieMae. K Mike, A Mallow and Q Lady Dolly were ready as well, Zoe Monique And Cydee had their Cannon ready and so it went, all of the crews were ready with their smoking lighters ready to touch the fuses.
K Steve shouted, “FIRE!”
The fuses were lit. there was a moment of tense silence and then a huge roar as all of the cannons fired. There was a wall of smoke........ and a huge shower of confetti that blew on the sea breeze to drift ashore covering the cheering crowd.
Talley looked at Pete & Whiskers and shook her head. The crowd reacted as if this was something planned and they carried on cheering. Whiskers ordered the sails dropped and prepared to put boats over to tow them to the pier.
The mayor of St Augustine was waiting to meet Queen Talley as she stepped down the gangway. The first thing she said, was, “The confetti was an absolutely wonderful touch! I would never have thought of it.”
Talley almost said, I wouldn’t have either, but decided to let things be. It could have been worse K Steve could have loaded cannonballs into the cannons, there was a stack of them on the gun deck.
The kitties were all warmly greeted as they came off of the ship. The mayor made a brief speech welcoming them to the celebration and thanked them all for being a part of this gala occasion.
Angel Maggie and Callie assisted by Whitey and Orangie set up the buffet on deck and lunch was served.
K Steve, filling his plate with fried shrimp, saw Talley coming his way and turned to make an escape. Talley called after him, “It’s okay, the mayor thought the confetti was a wonderful idea.”
K Steve said, “I knew they’d like it. What’s a party without confetti? I had thought about sneezing powder but decided against it.” Talley thought, It could have been so much worse, and was thankful that Steve had gone with the confetti.
Their lunch was Paella, a seafood and rice dish that was a favorite in coastal Spain. To accompany it, Maggie had found an old family recipe for Minorcan Clam Chowder that had been handed down in her dad’s family for at least five generations. She had made it using Datil peppers that gave it a distinctly spicy note but that wasn’t too hot. She and Callie had prepared ten gallons of it and it appeared that there wouldn’t be any left over.
After lunch some of the kitties crawled into the bunks for a nap, while others decided to see some of the sights.
Tonight there would be fireworks, dancing and lots of food booths set up in the central square. It was a great celebration.
(more to come)
Love you all,

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
I’m so excited to tell you about the sailing adventure that I have planned for us.
September 8th, Tuesday marks the 450th anniversary of the founding of St Augustine. St. Augustine is a small town about thirty miles from my home in Jacksonville. It’s a quaint town with great restaurants, wonderful shops and some marvelous sightseeing and historical sites.
St Augustine is the oldest continually populated settlement in what is now the United States. It was first organized on September 8, 1565, by Spanish explorer Pedro Menendez de Aviles. The date was significant because it was the feast day of St. Augustine. Menendez named the day after the saint.
In order to take part in the celebration, we’ve chartered a recreation of the type vessel that Menendez sailed from Spain to what is now Florida. It is called El Galeon, and while we won’t sail it from Spain, we will be sailing it from Jacksonville to St. Augustine, arriving at the height of the festivities. We come into the harbor with our cannons firing to add to the celebratory atmosphere.”
Our Royal Squadron Pilots will be flying us to Jacksonville Florida aboard Feline Force One. We’ll have breakfast aboard the aircraft, and lunch on the El Galeon while we familiarize ourselves with her handling. We’ll set out into the Atlantic early Tuesday morning arriving in St Augustine around lunch time.
Period costumes will be provided for all of you and while we’re in St Augustine, we’ll have a private guided tour of the Castillio De San Marcos, The Oldest Fort in the United States.
So pack your cameras and prepare yourselves for fun and education as we again travel back in time.

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
(Please excuse the C/P, We want to include all all of our friends in the fun, but with so many blogs to send, it’s all my dad can manage for me.)

A visit to Yorktown
The kitties all awakened early and made their way to the dining car of their luxurious private train.
Talley and Whiskers got breakfast, and while she ate, she went over her notes for the day’s activities. The breakfast this morning was sumptuous buffet, featuring steak and eggs, ham, sausage, and bacon. There was fresh fruit, sweet rolls, biscuits, and lots of fresh squeezed juice.
There was a happy banter as the kitties enjoyed both the great and food and the company of good friends. Talley took a last bite of her biscuit and tapped her water glass for attention.
When the kitties had quieted she said, “Today, is the last day of our trip back in time to colonial America. We’ll be taking horse drawn carriages to visit the Yorktown victory center and museum. We’ll be discovering what it took for the United States to become independent. We’ll explore the site of the last major battle of the Revolutionary War. At Yorktown, in the fall of 1781, General George Washington, with allied American and French forces, laid siege to General Charles Lord Cornwallis’s British army. On October 19, Cornwallis surrendered, effectively ending the war and ensuring independence.”
Talley looked at her notes and continued, “We’ll visit recreations of historic buildings and docents dressed in period costumes will tell us what life was like for our colonial ancestor. One of the buildings we’ll be seeing is the food storehouse, where our kitty ancestors worked diligently to protect the colonist’s food and supplies from rodents. We can all take pride in the accomplishments of our ancestors, for without them the colonists may not have survived.”
Talley said after breakfast if you return to your compartments, you’ll find that your porters have laid out period costumes for you. There’s no hurry, so enjoy your breakfast, and we’ll all meet at the carriages at 11:00 AM.”
Whiskers smiled as he watched K Steve make another trip to the buffet, filling his plate with bacon and eggs and tucking some sweet rolls into his pockets. Ernie just shook his head at K Steve and took a plate of fresh fruit back to their table.
When breakfast was finished the kitties all made their way back to their compartments, and when the emerged, they were all dressed as colonists. The kittens were especially thrilled with the costumes. It was going to be another day of learning and fun!
Talley laughed happily as the kitties from the shelter eagerly climbed aboard the carriages. They were all happy and relaxed ready for adventure.

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
We’ll get back to our exciting historic train ride, in just a moment, but dad and I just saw something that we just had to share with all of you;
Calgary Humane Society has launched an innovative new ad campaign in which it hawks “pre-owned” cats in the same razzle-dazzle in-your-face style of late-night used car commercials. Every detail, including the salesman in a bad suit, wide tie and porn-star moustache, is spot on.
Shelters are learning the value of good social media and youtube mojo in saving the lives of shelter cats. At Calgary Humane, 80% of its animals are adopted within 14 days. They offer a Patient Paw program, in which cats and rabbits who have been at the shelter for a longer-than-average time can be adopted for free (dogs in the program are available for a $50 donation). And, the shelter takes professional quality photos of its adoptable pets for the website, a practice that’s proven to increase visits to the shelter and adoption rates.
If your pawrents volunteer with a shelter that lags behind in adoption promotion practices, tell them to speak up! There’s a lot that can be done on social media that does not require extensive resources, but provides significant upticks in adoption rates.

Now our Trip into History continues:

Talley and Whiskers awakened in their sleeping compartment on the train. The sound of happy voices reached them from the dining car. They bathed, dressed and joined the happy kitties for breakfast.
Talley tapped her water glass for attention and announced, “After breakfast, Carriages will be waiting for us and we’ll travel the ten miles of the Colonial Historic Parkway to Jamestown,
I’ll read to you from the brochure, “Re-creations of three ships that brought America’s first permanent English colonists to Virginia in 1607 are moored at Jamestown Settlement’s pier for visitors to board and explore.

Visitors can learn about the four-and-a-half-month voyage from England and take part in periodic demonstrations of 17th-century piloting and navigation. Visit the ‘tween deck of the Susan Constant to learn about shipboard life and the tight conditions during the journey to Virginia. Try steering with a whipstaff or tiller, tie sailors’ knots, climb into a sailor’s bunk.”

The Jamestown Settlement re-creations have been designated “the official fleet of the Commonwealth” by the Virginia General Assembly.
Costumed historical interpreters assist visitors in exploring the ships and learning about the 1607 voyage and 17th-century shipboard activities.
I think we’ll have lots of fun, and learn the important role that kitties played aboard the ships, protecting the supplies and passengers from rats.
“Enjoy your breakfast and get ready for more adventure!”

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Q Talley
All Aboard!
Today we will be taking a ride on a train. Our passenger cars are beautifully restored turn of the century luxury cars and we will be dining in style in a fully equipped dining car. Our train will pulled by a 1905 Baldwin Steam locomotive. I have invited all of the residents of the new shelter to join us and I would appreciate any efforts on your part to make them feel comfortable on our trip. I think they might be a little nervous about going on a train, but I know that with your encouragement and friendship we can show them how to relax and enjoy the trip.
Where will be going you ask, (Our perhaps you didn’t, but I’ll tell you anyway.) We’ll be traveling to Colonial Williamsburg, for sightseeing and shopping. We’ll learn about the early days of our country and how the colonists created our nation. Some of our ancestors came over with the very first colonists and they protected the scarce supplies of stored food from the marauding mice and rats. You might even say that we kitties were responsible for the survival of the colonists.
We’ll be visiting a colonial schoolhouse where docents in period costume will show us how the students learned what they needed to know to thrive and prosper in revolutionary America. Then on to the homes of notable founding fathers where we’ll meet Dolly Madison, the seamstress who created our first Stars and Stripes. Following our visits to these houses we’ll visit the crafts shops see how the blacksmiths, cabinet makers, weavers and carpenters made all of the goods that were essential in day to day life, in early America.
Getting hungry? We have reservations at Christana Campbell’s Tavern an accurate recreation of an upscale dining establishment from colonial days. I’ve taken the liberty of ordering for us to save time. Hope you like seafood. Here’s our menu;
The Waterman’s Lunch
A three-course meal starting with a cup of the Eastern Shore Clam Chowder
followed by a dish of gridiron-cooked Salmon, with a Shrimp and Scallop Brochette
adorning a bed of Rice Pilaf with a Lemon Dill Cream, ending with your choice of fresh baked fruit pie. (Apple, Blueberry, Peach or Strawberry)
Following our adventures in Colonial Williamsburg, we’ll return to our waiting train in horse drawn carriages and have dinner in style in the dining car.
The adventure will take place on the Cat’s Meow Resort Page (271826) at any time, (no live blogging.)
I hope you’ll join us for this fun filled outing!
Purrs and friendly headbumps,
Your Servant,
Queen Talley

Hi Holly and the Green Mountain Gang!
Well, this IS a surprise! Mom has had a lot of "surprise" COTD winners lately. In fact, almost all of them this year. So, now it's our turn! Yippee! I hope everyone brought their swim suits because we're having one last fling with the slip-n-slid before we roll it up for the season. Then a nice outdoor potluck and maybe campfire songs later. There's still some moon out at night, so don't be scared. Besides, we have the campfire to scare away the vampires.

What? Wait a minute. *psst psss ffft pssst* Oh. *frown* My brother just told me campfires do NOT keep the vampires away. So, well, then. I guess we'll have to invite some werewolves. Maybe that'll do it! But no matter what, have a great time and don't forget to take a goody bag before you head home. Thanks for stopping by!

PS - If you have any ideas for vampire repellent, let us know! MOL!

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
I hope that the ideas and suggestions that I’ve presented during the month have proven helpful. I want to especially thank those of you who took the time to send me ideas that I could share with our friends.
This has been a remarkable month for me and my family.
You’ve sent me so many votes, so many kind words and wishes, so much love. When I was little more than a kitten, (it was back in the day of the shout out COTD catpaigns.) I was nominated for COTD, and as I sat with dad that evening he read me the notes that kitties had sent along with their votes. I kind of got a vision of what was happening and Pete asked me what I was thinking.
This is what I told him; “I just had a vision of what is happening tonight, Pete. Kitties and their families from all over the world are reading about me and sending me votes. What is a vote? Well, it’s easy to think that it’s just a click on a computer, but I think it’s much more. In my mind’s eye I see the world as though I’m looking at it from space. The whole world is a beautiful orb, with no lines marking off the different countries. I see the votes as little yellow scrolls tied with a bit golden ribbon. They seem to be floating up toward me from individual homes. As they rise they join others rising from neighborhoods and the streams of votes from neighborhoods combine to for large streams from cities, and then from states, they flow together to form rivers of sparkling yellow and gold. They make a river of love and caring. Each one is a message of friendship.
The big rivers combine and form rushing torrents of love and goodwill. As the world rotates beneath me I can see that the votes are rising from all over the globe and that powerful rush of love and good will circles the globe and then it all comes rushing down onto our house.
I feel so loved! CC is a very special place and a vote is so much more than just a click.”
All of these years later, I still think your votes are much more than clicks!
My life truly has been blessed. I was rescued by my dad when I was a tiny sick kitten, and I have been loved and nurtured every day of my life. My brother and sisters love me and treat me with kindness and respect. I’ve made many friends here on CC and I met the most wonderful cat in the whole world, my wonderful husband K Whiskers.
I hope with all of my heart that some of the ideas that I’ve presented, can help other kitties to find the kind of life that I have been blessed with. Thank you all so very much!
See you tomorrow evening for a Coronation Celebration.

( by K MacVitie)
The peace and joy you give me, no words can ever tell,
The lessons that you teach me, in my heart will always dwell,
Your purrs bring forth divinity, to comfort, heal and bless,
Wondrous being, praise to you for your gracious loveliness.

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
Today we take a break in the catpaign, to make an announcement,
Queens Maggie and Angel Ginger have agreed that the Coronation shall take place on Tuesday September 1st beginning at 7:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time. The ceremony will take place on the Cat’s Meow Resort, (271826). Following the ceremony there will be a reception for all kitties. There will be a delicious menu, Music and Dancing until the wee hours (or until everyone is tired and goes to sleep)
I have to say, It has been an honor and a pleasure to Catpaign this month, and I am so overwhelmed with your support and kindness. I will try to be a good Queen and serve you well.
And now a poem:

Like God keeps His eye upon the sparrow,
I keep my eye upon the cat,
For unlike the little sparrow,
I’m not sure just where she’s at.
She knows the couch is out of bounds,
Yet invariably she goes there,
She ignores the yellow warning tape,
I’ve wound around it, in despair.
I know she likes electric cords,
She pulls them from the wall,
I’ve told her fifty million times,
The wires are rewired now,
To shriek like fire sirens,
If she so much as puts a paw
Anywhere near their environs.
She treats the kitchen counter,
As a fun place on which to glide,
Though it’s purposely lubricated
To make her slip and slide.
When I booby-trapped the cupboards,
I thought, “A-ha! I’ve stopped her now!”
But fearlessly she enters,
And does not blow up, somehow.
Some cat owners keep baskets
Of balls of yarn upon the floor,
My basket’s filled with hand grenades,
Which she bats around ’til she gets bored.
Alternate pencils on my desktop,
On impact will explode,
She always kicks the safe ones off,
How ever does she know?
There’s nothing wrong with cat food,
It’s made special, just for cats,
But she wants steak and baked potato,
Just once I’d like to wear a dress,
Not accessorized with cat hair,
But plastic bags do not protect,
How does she get inside there?
I firmly speak; my voice is loud,
Sometimes I fairly SHOUT!
But, somehow her cat meows,
Are loud enough to drown me out.
I tell her time and time again,
It would help so much when I yell at her,
If she looked more like a brute.
Her attention span is not too long,
Just long enough to drive me wild,
I’m convinced she had some lessons,
From a clever, spoiled child.
I doubt God’s little sparrows,
Give Him trouble quite like mine,
But He can’t hold them in His lap,
Or hug them any time.
Oh, I suppose it is a tradeoff,
And I do get some relief,
Like when she’s curled up on the couch
Behind the yellow tape, asleep.
I think to master cat control,
Is a fine, accomplished art,
I’ve learned I can cat-proof my house,
But I can’t cat-proof my heart.
I love you all,

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
We have a short blog and a long poem today.
I wanted to mention another way to help shelters. It’s something that dad has been doing for quite a while, and we almost forgot to mention it to you. It’s easy, doesn’t cost anything and provides funding for almost any charity that you can think of.
Most of us order things from Amazon, and they have a program called Amazon Smile. You sign up, and then whenever you make a purchase a, small donation is made to the charity you selected.
The small amounts add up, our local “No More Homeless Pets’ told us that they receive almost two hundred dollars a month.
Just a thought, and now our poem....
There's a danger you know.
You can't own just one, for the craving will grow.
There's no doubt they're addictive, wherein lies the danger
While living with lots, you'll grow poorer and stranger
One cat is not trouble, and two are so funny,
The third one is easy, the fourth one's a honey
The fifth is delightful, the sixth ones's a breeze.
You find you can live with a houseful, with ease.
So how 'bout another? Would you really dare?
They're really quite easy, but Oh Lord, the hair!
With cats on the sofa and cats on the bed,
And crates in the kitchen, its no bother, you said.
They're really no trouble, their manners are great.
What's just one more cat and one more little crate?
The sofa is hairy, the windows are crusty.
The floor is all footprints, the furniture's dusty.
The housekeeping suffers, but what do you care?
Who minds a few noseprints and a little more hair?
So let's keep a kitten, you can always find room.
And a little more time for the dust cloth and broom.
There's hardly a limit to the cats you can add
the thought of a cutback, sure makes you feel sad.
Each one is special, so useful, so funny,
The food bill grows larger, you owe the vet money.
Your folks never visit, few friends come to stay,
Except other cat folks, who live the same way.
Your lawn has now died and your shrubs are dead, too.
Your weekends are busy, you're off with your crew.
There's cat food and vitamins, grooming and shots
And entries and travel and motels, which cost lots.
Is it worth it you wonder? Are you caught in a trap?
Then that favorite comes up and climbs in your lap.
His look says you're special and you know that you will
Keep all of the kittens in spite of the bill.

Late evening is awful, you scream and you shout
At the cats on the sofa, who refuse to get up.
The cats and the cat shows, the travel, the thrills
The work and the worry, the pressure, the bills.
The Whole thing seems worth it, the cats are your life.
They're charming and funny and offset the strife.
Your lifestyle has changed, things just won't be the same.
Yes, those cats are addictive and so's the cat game!

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley
Today we’re going to discuss a very serious subject; Lost Kitties and how to find to find them. I hope you never need this information!
Top 10 Tips For Finding Lost Cats
1) Not all missing cats are lost. Cats are notorious for hiding in impossible places. Before you assume kitty is missing, make a thorough search indoors. ( I once spent the entire day in mom’s lingerie drawer)
2) If you know your cat is missing, grab your cellphone with a photo of your cat uploaded, flashlight and treats and head out. Wear comfortable clothes and comfortable soft-soled shoes. Hit the streets
3) While you’re searching, ask pedestrians, knock on neighbor’s doors and show the photo. Ask if you can check their garage, sheds, under the porch. To save time, multi-task during the search: leave a missing cat report with your vet, Animal Control, all the other local vets, shelters and rescue groups.
4) When you return home, leave food and water outside your door. Local TNR rescue rescues will often lend a trap. Go outside one last time to check and call your cat’s name before bedtime.
5) If you haven’t already made a missing cat poster, make one. Include: A good photograph, your cat’s name, description, any special identifying marks or collar, when last seen and where (cross street), your phone and e-mail. adding contact info at the bottom of the page cut into four or five vertical strips that can be easily torn off is helpful.
6) Enlist family and friends to help post flyers and spread the word. Have push pins, tape and a staple gun depending on the surface. The best posting spots include street intersection poles, local bulletin boards at grocery stores, library, laundromat and community center.
7) Post missing cats reports at online at Tabbytracker Craigslist, local online newspapers Use social networking like Facebook and Twitter. Ask everyone to share.
8) Visit all your local shelters to look for yourself even if say they don’t have a cat of your description.
9) If you’ve recently moved, extend your search to your old neighborhood.
10) Persevere! Cats have returned weeks and months later. Keep networking, and asking neighbors if they’ve noticed anything. Keep your flyers or posters fresh with a “Still Missing” header.
Today’s poem was selected by my dad!

I Could Pee on This
Her new sweater doesn’t smell of me
I could pee on that
She’s gone out for the day and
left her laptop on the counter
I could pee on that
Her new boyfriend just pushed
my head away
I could pee on him
She’s ignoring me ignoring her
I could pee everywhere
She’s making up for it
by putting me on her lap
I could pee on this
I could pee on this

Hi Holly & Green Mountan Gang, It's me, Talley

I'd like to take a moment, before we begin today’s blog, to thank every one of you, who took the time to come by and offer your support during my catpaign. I feel like I've learned a lot from all of you, and I hope I've offered you some ideas you may not have thought of before. I truly am grateful for your comments, ideas and help.
Well, tonight, I'll address a subject that I probably should have mentioned before. That is “spreading the word.” Shelters have wonderful kitties just waiting for someone to love. There are lots of people who feel lonely and troubled whose lives could be transformed for the better by a furry companion. How do we get them together? Advertising is the answer. It’s effective, but expensive. There is free publicity though, It is through the news media. It can be as simple as writing letters to the editor of your local newspaper, or it can involve establishing a rapport with local television and promoting shelter adoptions. Remember, there are lots of loving kitties available at a much lower cost than going to a breeder or pet shop. (dad has a hard time going to PetSmart on weekends because he always wants to bring all of the kitties home. The important thing though is to get the word out. People who live with pets live longer healthier lives than those who don't. Alley Cat Allies has a media primer on the website and it offers great ideas and sample letters and news releases. The address is http://www.alleycat. org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?pid=373 . So, to get started, let's resolve to write at least one letter to the newspaper during the month of my reign.

Regarding the Coronation Ball, We still need to arrange the details with Queens,Angel Ginger and Maggie, but one thing is certain. Every one of the kitties on CC is invited to the CMR resort on September 1st, to celebrate at the Coronation Ball, There will be a speech (a very short one, I promise) and wonderful food, , and there will be dancing too. I want to purrsonally shake paws and hug each and every one of you.

And now today, something a little different:

An Old Russian Prayer
Hear our prayer Lord, for all animals,
May they be well-fed and well-trained and happy;
Protect them from hunger and fear and suffering;
And, we pray, protect specially, dear Lord,
The little cat who is the companion of our home,
Keep her safe as she goes abroad,
And bring her back to comfort us

And a poem

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice,
For grocery bags where I can hide,
Just like a tiger, crouched inside!
I pray for gourmet Kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For window sills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I’ll always stay real cool,
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!

I love you all,
