Hi Nina
Hello, kittehs. Today I address you for the final time as your Queen of December. Your Queen thanks you for your support these past two months, during my catpaign and during my reign. Furrendships have been made along the way, and for these I am most grateful.

2009 has brought terrible sadness with illnesses and losses; yet, also it has brought joy, with new kittehs being adopted into furever homes, birthdays and adoptiversaries being celebrated, and bonding of the CC family as never before.

It has been a privilege and an honor to serve you. And while it was difficult at times to bring some news to all of you, I delighted in the notes I received of your day-to-day lives; from diets to redecorating the Christmas tree for your pawrents; from sudden escapes and equally sudden recaptures and withdrawal of treats as punishment; from illnesses to restored health; from daily activities to purr therapy for a sick pawrent.

My final hope is that now you will continue to delight me, from being loyal subjects to being life-long furrends.

Take care, my dear furrends. Luv one another, share one another’s burdens, take pleasure in one another’s victories.

Farewell, kittehs, and hugs, Felicity
Your retiring Queen of December, 2009

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!
Happy Christmas, every kitteh and family♥.

Congratulations to our Christmas Day COTD Winner “The Foster Kitty Page”
Today vote Jake #142474 COTD

With broken hearts and many tears, we grieve the passing of our dear, sweet furrend, Colonel LEO #42598 – Space Command is now controlled by him from Heaven.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy 10th Birthday, Jake #142474-----
WE WOULD LIKE TO SURPRISE JAKE #142474
WITH HIS VERY OWN COTD BADGE TOMORROW
IN CELEBRATION OF HIS 10TH BIRTHDAY TODAY.
Jake’s diagnosis of cancer was devastating to his
parents, but the vet was able to give them good
news that his cancer is treatable, with surgery and
possibly chemotherapy. We can’t think of a better
Christmas gift or Birthday gift for them and Jake than
a vote today towards his very own COTD Badge.
SO PLEASE, GO BY JAKE’S PAGE #142474 AND GIVE
HIM THE GIFT OF A COTD VOTE TODAY!!
(Because Jake's Mom will be devoting all her time to caring for him, they will be unable to send thank yous. We want her to know that Jake's getting better is all the thanks we need!)
Hi Nina
Hello, kittehs. I realize that many of you are saddened by all the illnesses and losses our CC furrends are going through, and I want you to know I do have a difficult time reporting it. Christmas is supposed to be a time of celebration, of joy, of happy family gatherings, a time of acknowledging the reason this time of year is so important.
But it is exactly because of these reasons I bring you updates, so that the families who are hurting can be comforted and know others care and share their pain, and so that we can try to make their Christmas a little brighter.
I ask that you keep these families in your prayers, many of whom have had a loved one pass away...
Hi Nina!
WE ARE STILL HAVING NICE WEATHER, AROUND 60. MOMMA AND DADDY SO ENJOYED THEIR DAY OUT YESTERDAY, BUT THEY DIDN'T BRING ME ANY OF THEIR LEFTOVERS FROM LUNCH! SOMETHING ABOUT "TEX-MEX" FOOD IS NOT GOOD FOR KITTEHS - HA! THEY JUST MEANS THEY ATE IT ALL!
WITH DEEP SADNESS, we say “until we meet again” to sweet, 19 yr. old Pepper #125654. Pepper has taken a terrible turn for the worse, and her Mom and Dad made the difficult but most loving decision to help her cross the Rainbow Bridge this morning. Our hearts go out to Mom Linda and dad during this painful time.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ET #147060. An update from ET’s parents: “She's still hanging in there and although the tumor keeps growing, she is still eating her treats. We don't expect for her to live past another couple of weeks because the tumor is invading her sinuses, and it will eventually impede her ability to breathe. Mom and dad won't let her suffer though. Again many thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Hi Nina!
~
~ We extend our deepest sympathy to Frosty’s Mom #11912 on the loss of her mother, who returned to Heaven on Dec. 8, after a lengthy hospitalization. Her greatest wish was to go home to Jesus, and she is now with Him. Our hearts go out to you at this very sad time.
~
~
Sir Leonardo’s Mom #129433 was taken to ER for high blood pressure and dizziness on Thursday. CAT Scan was clear and at doctor’s visit on Friday she learned she has ear infection which caused her dizziness and nausea. She is now on diuretics to help with her Blood Pressure and should be feeling better in a couple days.
>
Please keep the Buenos Aires family in your prayers. Following is part of a message received Thursday night:
“Lola #131462 has fluid in her uterus that will require surgery next week. And Lady Lucy #131485 has a small mass in her breast and must have surgery after the first of the year. Please, keep us in your prayers, sweet friends. We love you all so much. From your friends forever and ever,
Lady Lucy and all the kitties from Buenos Aires!!”
>
Good news on Fuzzworthy #53825; he had a good “visit” with the litterbox, thus avoiding a visit with the vet. He is feeling much better and acting more himself and playing, but will be watched over the weekend to be sure he doesn’t have problems again.
>
Ditto #153054. Blood work shows thyroid is fine but liver levels were elevated. He is to have x-ray on the 19th.
>
There has been no update on Timmy #8851, who may have severe ear infection and need to return to vet to be given his meds, as Mom is unable to administer them successfully. Timmy becomes highly traumatized when taken to the vet.
>
There has been no update on Taffie #27315, who was vomiting all week, has lost weight and was at the vet on the 10th. Mom is so worried, as Taffie was just treated recently for breast cancer.
Hi Nina!
Today’s blog will be short, as Daddy is home all day and he and Momma have a lot of errands to run. Right now it is 26 degrees, with a wind chill of 14! Tomorrow morning will be even colder. At least the sun is out, but not doing much to warm things up. Enough said, I’m going back to bed!
Please remember to vote Angel #89283 COTD today.
Happy Adoptiversary, Barney #74382!
Happy Birthday, Sweetie Pie #4071!
Keep little Ditto #153054 in your prayers as his Mom awaits test results.
PLEASE keep Nappy #68109 and his family in your prayers today, as visitation for great-aunt Florence continues, followed this afternoon by the funeral.
We send out prayers for everyone’s safety in these harsh storms that are causing such trouble across the country.
Heaven has a new Angel, Toomey#137163
It is with deep sadness that I inform you that Toomey #137163 crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning. He had nearly complete kidney failure, and would have been in terrible pain for the few weeks he had left, so his loving family returned him to Heaven.
Please offer your prayers and support to Bailey #8050 and his family, who are so saddened at Toomey’s loss. He was only 2 years old. They don’t often blog, but try to stay in touch whenever possible.
Hi Nina!
Well, today started out much better than it turned out! Early this morning, it was 40+, now it's 39 with a wind chill of 33. Very gray, very dreary, very catnap-inducing!
Momma finally finished cleaning and put up the rest of the family room decorations - then she said "I AM SO DONE". I think that means she is not decorating the rest of the house this year, hehehehehehe.
And I have not broken anything - though Momma did drop a spray of crystal tear drops with miniature gold ornaments and broke one of the gold ones. She just kind of stood there a moment, staring at the little pieces on the carpet; but it was the two little pieces she saw on our catnip toy that got her back into action. She sighed, picked up all the pieces, shook each and every toy in the room, then vacuumed everything twice, just to be sure she got it all.
Then, she sighed some more - I think that's when she said the I'm so done thingy.
I have been really good, only attacking the tree twice the first hour it was up yesterday. I was on my back, holding a branch with my front paws, then glancing at Momma every couple seconds, waiting for a reaction.
It really doesn't taste good anyway, so when Momma and Daddy both said "FELICITY!" I humored them and stopped. What I am waiting for are my 3 boxes Momma puts under the tree every year - two are all wrapped, but ONE is open so I can hide inside it under the tree and grab My Baby's behind when she, unsuspecting, walks by...teeheehee. Now THAT'S a Christmas present!
Well, Momma is sighing again, so guess I'd better close for now. I'll meow again soon. Hugs and purrs, Felicity (I just can't quite bring myself to sign off with "Queen" - maybe next time.)
Come visit me, I am CIRRUS.
Congrats, Queen Felicity!
Hi, Your Majesty!
Haven't talked to you for a while (Mama's been too busy to open her laptop, and I can't walk on the big computer to type...) - So glad to see that you won the votey thing!
We've been purring and praying for all the cats and people you've been mentioning - even when I can't type, I can still read. We loves them, and sends them headbutts. Beau and Bella will meet the newly crossed kitties and help them get acclimated across the Bridge. They say to tell all their peoples to remember and laugh about all the cat crazies, and it will make the hurting not so bad, until it's time to meet again. That's what our Mama does....
Beau says time doesn't work the same on his side of the Bridge, so the hurting isn't there - every kitty is too excited to feel young and healthy and be playing and all of a sudden, their peoples is there too! He thinks people heaven must be a lot like that as well, because God is Good.
I'm gonna start sitting on Mama's laptop until she gets the idea and opens it more often. Usually she thinks I want a treat, so if I get BOTH, that's not so bad, is it?
Until later, Madame,
Miss Nina
Come visit me, Beau, Nina & Bella, my ballerina Angel.
Vote daily for Buddy #69967, our new COTM Candidate
It has been a week of highs and lows, happiness and deep sadness. If I have omitted someone in error, please let me know.....
The Rainbow Bridge welcomed a new Angel, Roxie #151433 on Nov. 29.
ET #147060 has been taken off her treatments as they were not helping. Her family cherishes each day they have with her.
Pepper #125654 has her good days and her bad days, and her family is grateful for each day she is with them.
Tigger #82433 is eating a little more and doing better. Her family is hoping her appetite will return to normal soon after all her shots are over.
Several of our CC pawrents have undergone or are about to undergo serious treatments or surgery, and we pray for healing for them all: Snowflake’s Mom #10546; Beacon’s Mom #96770; (Angel) Elvis’ Mom #107253; Simba’s Mom 16612.
Spookie’s Dad #87879 is doing better and beginning to walk a little again; Little Bit’s Mom #82473 fell down the stairs but is all right. Her MS is a little worse, and next year they may need to move to a house without stairs.
Heaven welcomed home Jim Chandler, the Dadcat of the Sunshine Gang. While we all are still mourning his sudden and unexpected loss, there is happy mews about his Gang Missy, Taz, Ole Gray and Zippi: Jim’s daughter Nicole will be moving into his home with her own kitteh and doggie, and maintaining The Gang’s furever home. We know Jim is smiling down on all of us today, and we are grateful to have had him in our lives.
Hi Nina!
Hello, kittehs! Did you know? Edward Lowe invented “kitty litter” in 1947 at the request of a neighbor whose cat was leaving paw prints all over the house from the ashes she had used in its box. In 1964 he created the TidyCat brand of kitty litter.
PLEASE Continue to pray for Snowflake’s Mom #10546, who is having surgery today.
PLEASE keep Beacon’s Mom Karen #96770 in your prayers, as she begins chemo treatments on Dec. 2.
WITH SADNESS, we send our heartfelt sympathy to the family of Roxie, #151433, who unexpectedly crossed the Rainbow Bridge. She is the sibling of Penny Pearl (In loving memory). PLEASE go by Roxie’s page #151433, her Mom is in need of hugs and prayers.
OUR DEEPEST SYMPATHY to Ashley and family #156097 for the loss of their 14-yr. old tabby Basil. He had severe bladder stones and Mom knew he could not endure the surgery and allowed him to complete his journey home to the Rainbow Bridge last week.
PLEASE continue to pray for Tigger #82433, who is still having accidents, not eating very well, and losing weight. She may need to return to vet the end of this week if no improvement. Mom is going to try baby food in hopes Tigger will eat better.
Congrats to our COTD Winner Sabrina!
Hi Nina!
Hello, furrends – old and new! Did you know? It's impossible to fold a dollar bill in half eight times, doubling it each time. In fact, try it even with a large piece of paper. It can't be done.
CLARIFICATION ON KING NAMES IN A DECK OF CARDS.
MY “DID YOU KNOW?” SECTION YESTERDAY SHOULD HAVE READ “LEGEND STATES” each of the four Kings were named after Kings in history. This practice was used for a brief period of time during the mid-15th century, but later disregarded as unsubstantiated. The Queens and Knaves (Jacks) also were not named after any specific person. I apologize for the misstatement of facts.
A Sunday school teacher asked her children as they
were on the way to church service,
'And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?'
One bright little girl replied,
'Because people are sleeping.'
(Thanks, Sir Leonardo and Mom Janada for this humorous story)
Hi Nina!
Hi, purrpals! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Did you know? Despite its reputation for being finicky, the average cat consumes about 127,750 calories a year, nearly 28 times its own weight in food and the same amount again in liquids. In case you were wondering, cats cannot survive on a vegetarian diet.
Congrats to our COTD Winner Kittzi!
SPECIAL VOTE TODAY: RBB KITTIES BLACKIE & MOUSEY #42912 FOR ACOTD, SO THEY CAN BE HONORED ON THANKSGIVING DAY!!!
Meow a note of thanks to our King Spongie, #72539!
Hi Nina!
ARE YOU HAVING TURKEY FOR THANKSGIVING? MOMMA IS MAKING LEG OF LAMB THIS YEAR - CAN'T WAIT!
Today is the last Tuesday in November. Do you know... what disposable diapers, windshield wipers, KEVLAR, Blissymbol Printer (for those unable to speak) and COBOL computer language all have in common? They were all invented by WOMEN. (YEAH! Hear us RAWR!)
Congrats to our COTD Winner Trace!
Please say a prayer that our dear King Spongie #72539 gets better soon.
PLEASE KEEP SNOWFLAKE’S MOM #10546 IN YOUR PRAYERS. Her surgery for Monday Nov. 30 is confirmed, and the furbabies will be boarded while she is in the hospital.
MEDICAL UPDATE FROM TIGGER #82433—PLEASE KEEP HER IN YOUR PRAYERS: Thank you for checking on me. I am very sick. We went to the vet on Friday and then had to go back on Saturday for more fluids and antibiotics. I have to get a shot every day for two weeks. Mom and dad carry me to my litter box every hour or two. I went a few times today by myself. I am finally eating again but not much. I have a very bad UTI and we are waiting on my blood work still. Hopefully tomorrow I will start to feel better. I wish you a great Turkey day.
“At The End of the Day”.....
Is anybody happier because you passed this way?
Does anyone remember that you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over, and its toiling time is through.
Is there anyone to utter now a kindly word of you?
Can you say tonight in parting with the day that's slipping fast,
That you helped a single person of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing over what you did or said?
Does one whose hopes were fading now with courage look ahead?
Did you waste the day or use it? Was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God will say:
"You have earned one more tomorrow by what you did today?"
Nina's been adventuring!
Nina got out of the house Monday night(5/18/09). Near as I can figure, she was curious about all the indoor/outdoor cats she can see from her window, and wanted to find out what they were doing outside. I've been frantic with worry, as she's been an indoor only cat all her life! Thank goodness her shots and heartworm medication are up to date!
After keeping vigil all night for three nights, last night (or should I say, this morning - 5/21/09) she finally came home! I've never been so happy to see anyone in my life!
What makes me very sad, however, was the number of cats I saw without collars or ID of any kind while I was hunting for Nina. Can't tell other adults what to do with their cats, but I CAN strongly urge everyone to provide their cats with a collar and ID tag; license your cat where it is required, as it is here where I live.
Come visit me, Beau, Nina & Bella, my ballerina Angel.
