It's a wonderful life
Philip Van Doren Stern (1900-1984) began a short story, The Greatest Gift", in 1939. He was inspired by a dream, and reminiscent of the 1843 Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol. Stern shared 200 printed copies in 1943 with friends as a year-end cards after numerous publisher rejections.
Luckily, the pamphlet came to the attention of a RKO movie producer who purchased the rights. Frank Capra's production company saw the movie potential. He paid $10,000 for the rights in 1945. Stern's story was adapted into the most loved and memorable American family film, "It's a Wonderful Life" in 1946. Director Capra's inventiveness, humor and affection for human beings keep it glowing with life and excitement.
On Xmas eve, George Bailey's guardian angel shows him all the lives he touched and how different life in his community would be had he never been born. Although George repeatedly sacrifices his dream to travel the world, he realizes "No man is a failure who has friends."

The Nutcracker Ballet
On December 17, 1892, The Nutcracker ballet premiered in St. Petersburg, Russia. Critics and audience thought it a failure; it was not an instant success.
The adaptation by Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870) was based on The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by Ernst Theodor Wilhelm Hoffman (1776-1822).
The score was composed by Peter Tchaikovsky, commissioned by mastermind choreographer Marius Petipa. Tchaikovsky died less than a year later.
The ballet was first performed in the United States in 1944. The Nutcracker has become a classic — many people consider it the most popular ballet in the world.

Mom simply loved seeing her niece's ballet performances for all those special ten Decembers, meow-arvelous and magical memories to remember. Our adorable Sarah played different characters, beginning as a mouse, followed by a flower, a plum fairy and other dancers with enormous grace. How fast time goes, like a blink of an eye.

Those of you who have been around CC for awhile have certainly met Wendy #6497, and those of you who may not have had the pleasure, here’s your chance. Wendy is a gorgeous Tonkinese who has been a CFA Champion. Her parents saw a Tonkinese at a cat show and became interested in the breed, and after getting to know the breeder a little better, they met pretty Wendy. Wendy had given birth to a litter of kittens and when they kittens were ready to go, so was Wendy. She was about 2 years old at the time, and now she has reached the golden age of 16! One of Wendy’s favorite activites is to go for rides in the car with her pawrents to look at Christmas lights, so we know this is her favorite time of year. Recently, she has had a few medical issues and had to spend some time at the vet hospital. Thankfully, she is now back home with her loving family where she belongs. We know they are grateful to have Wendy back home, and we’re grateful as well, as Wendy has been a special friend to so many of us. 2 days ago when I had My COTD, my mommy was very sick and couldnt get on the comp, out of bed, ect... to finish thanking everyone for my Birthday wishes, voting and winning COTD. Thank you! Finishing up today. I spend that day on my own in the living room as COTD while she was in bed. And my mommy was so glad to see me not in the bedroom and just hanging out on my own. Yesterday I went for my phenobarb level and got eye drops for my infection and now she has to give both meds 2x a day and figure out how to take care of herself as well.

♥ FRIENDS... ♥
Today 20th of July we´re celebrating "Friends´ Day" in Argentina the way we do every year and we thought we would write a special blog for our friends.
Many of you already know the story you are about to read. It takes place in Spain, where a gorgeous black kitty named Fum and a Tyto Alba owl by the name of Gebra became best friends.
Gebra (from the Catalan "Gebre" which means "Frost") and Fum (which means "Smoke") met each other in May 2010 when they were both one month old and have been together since then.
They became famous by a video their owners uploaded in You Tube last year and was seen by lots of people all over the world.
We think this video is one of the sweetest and most amazing things we have ever seen and it reflects very well the special bond between these two fellows.
The interplay between Fum and Gebra is a lesson of friendship and kindness. Everytime Mom sees them playing in their video she wishes she could see through the eyes of an animal, a cat, a dog, a bird...
Wouldn´t it be great to contemplate the universe and all the living beings on it without any bias? Wouldn´t it be great to enjoy it the way it is?...
Gebra can fly and Fum cannot do that. When Gebra flies he runs through the field and sometimes, Gebra also joind him in a walk, although owls usually don´t take walks.
Some of us (humans) can fly, some other can run, that´s the wonder of the world. We´re all different and yet we are here to love, to share, to give.
Today we´re celebrating our old friends and welcoming our new friends with this message of friendship and love. No act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted.

we didnt get on over the weekend as momma was real busy canning her home made veggie soup. yep it is that time of year for her, cannin and freezing stuff from the garden. she works pretty hard at it every year.
at least we have cooled down just a bit into the upper 90's instead of the 100's callin for rain next couple days with storms in some places. sure hope the bad weather misses us but we get some of the rain
ou thunderfoot is fixing to start takin flying lessons with k pete so he can join the royal pilots for the castle. and help out angel scooter and myself with some of the trips . and k pete is gonna let us keep one of the jets at home for our use in gettin to the castle how cool is that

I was purring load to hear from you and also to know you had such a wonderful day celebrating your birthday.
My whiskers are freezing tonight. We´re having only +35F and it´s very cold outside.
Mom went to the Pet Shop in the afternoon to buy some kitty food for us and she brought us a new toy. It´s a cool bouncing fish. I played with him and when I thought I had enough, I put him to sleep under the blankets over Grandma´s bed.
What can I do? He needed some rest. I bet Granny will be happy to find him when she goes to bed!!

She couldn't open the window when we went to bed as the neighbors were still setting off boom booms at 11 PM. We didn't want to listen to that.
