wow we had some more nasty storms at home last night and it got one of our outlets that has a breaker and all the outlets on one side of the kitchen dont work and momma had to pull the fridge out and run a heavy drop cord to it.

momma also said she saw on the news this morning that a lady in oklahoma foune her two precious kitties after searching the debris for hours. one has a broken leg and the other is just fine. sure did put a big smile on momma's face
momma ordered and inspiron 15.6" with touch screen from dell. sure hope she likes it and it gets here soon so we can get to our hockey games again before playoffs are over.

We hope your dear Mom is feeling better today. Hopefully the sun will come out to visit you and you'll be able to see all your critter furiends in your lovely backyard. Give your Mom a hug for us and let her know she is in our prayers.

Yesterday the weather turned out to be nice, not too warm, so our Mom took us out for a ride in our cat stroller. It has been a while, but Mom needs the exercise. Callie and I enjoyed it because no one else was out walking (with their dogs!). We saw Orangie sitting on a fence that surrounds the peacock’s house. We didn’t want to scare him so we just walked by shaking our heads, hoping he wouldn’t fall into the peacock’s yard! No sight of Whitey, but I’m sure she has a nice, very hidden spot.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the recent tornado outbreaks. The news has been heartbreaking!

CATS’ RULES OF LIFE (Part 1)

BATHROOMS:
Always accompany guests to the bathroom. It is not necessary to do anything. Just sit and stare but occasionally rub their legs.

DOORS:
Do not allow any closed doors in any room. To get door open, stand looking sad at the humans. Once door is opened, it is not necessary to use it. After you have ordered an "outside" door opened, stand halfway in and out and think about several things. This is particularly important during very cold weather, rain, snow, or mosquito season.

“Molly’s cat died,” said Denise’s tearful voice on the phone. “Midnight was hit by a car.” Molly, Denise & I had been friends for 10 years & we all loved Midnight.

Denise explained Midnight had somehow gotten out of Molly’s house & a car had hit him. A neighbor had found Midnight, put him in a box & taken him to Molly. Molly & Midnight had been together for 18 years. My own cat had recently died from old age & I was crushed.

“Let’s go to her house & have a little funeral service,” I suggested. “I’ll pick up flowers & make a little cross with Midnight’s name on it.”

We decided to meet at Molly’s house. I stopped by the flower shop to pick up a bouquet of daises. There was a pet store on the way & I thought they might have an appropriate sympathy card. In the shop was a small gray & black kitten in a cage. It was too soon to get Molly a kitten. You can’t just replace one cat with another as if it were a broken dish. Not yet. The kitten tried to climb over his cage to reach me & did a back flip, making me laugh.

“He’s cute, isn’t he? I don’t know why no one has bought him yet,” the storeowner said. “I guess he is going to stay awhile.”

“Stay Awhile.” I smiled. He had just been named. “I’ll buy him & the cat carrier too.”

If Molly didn’t want a kitten, I would keep him. As I drove to Molly’s, the kitten meowed loudly.

“Be quiet, Stay Awhile, you’re going to mend a broken heart today,” I said, hoping Molly would accept the kitten. Denise & Molly were waiting for me.

“Molly, I know I shouldn’t have done this, but I saw this kitten & couldn’t help myself. I know he can’t replace Midnight, but if you don’t want him, I’ll keep him. His name is Stay Awhile,” I said.

“Stay Awhile? What a silly, delightful name!” She kissed the kitten’s nose. “Of course I’ll keep him. I couldn’t bear one night not having a cat in the house.”

“We should probably-you know-bury Midnight now,” Denise said.

We solemnly dug a grave in the garden & gently placed the box in, covered it up & placed the flowers & little wooden cross into the earth.

Suddenly, a cat leaped over the fence & landed at our feet.

“MIDNIGHT!” we all screamed. Molly grabbed the black cat & lifted him up. “It’s Midnight!” She burst into tears of joy.

“Molly, didn’t you look into the box the neighbor gave you?”
Molly replied, “No, I couldn’t stand to see Midnight dead!” We all laughed hysterically. Some poor stray cat just had a 1st class funeral!

I was thrilled I could keep the kitten! A day that started with tears ended in laughter, thanks to a cat who came to his own funeral & a kitten named Stay Awhile. I bought Stay Awhile to help heal Molly’s broken heart, but instead he healed mine!

Hi Spongie, Gang, Angels and Mom!
We had rain today, too! Ours started about 2pm and we got about 1/2 an inch. We had pea-sized hail, too! It was so loud, especially in the sunroom, since it has a metal roof! Mom was able to get all of my sibs in the house before it started, except for Cookie. But when the hail started and the wind was blowing rain across the back porch she was sitting on, she came in. I guess she didn't want to get wet...MOL! I'm sorry you couldn't go outside, my furiend. I know how much you like to explore! Well, Mom was gonna make me go to the groomer, tomorrow, cuz I'm all matted up and won't let her or Dad comb me out. But I've started sneezing and Mom said she will have to postpone it for awhile. YIPEE! I hate going to the groomer! They always cut off all of my fur!

Well, my furiend, not much is happening here, either so I guess I'll say goodnight to you and wish you pleasant dreams. I'm sorry that your Mom is having a painful day and we are keeping her in our thoughts and prayers. Hope she feels better, tomorrow. I hope you have a good evening and I'm leaving you a vote. Another scorcher today..we hit the mid 80's again. It was 90* yesterday and this is only May, can't imagine what July will be like.

They keep calling for rain, but it never comes, so mom keeps waterin' the flowers outside. We do not like the hose, so we come upstiars when she does that, she doesn't get us wet, but we are afraid the water will get us anyway.

Mom is all done painting her dresser and vanity in her room. She ordered a new white chest of drawers yesterday. Mom ordered a new headboard last month and it is white, so instead of replacing all the furniture in her bedroom, she painted it all white, but the chest of drawers is so damaged and the drawers are falling apart, so she ordered a new one.

Thanks also for my COTD win and my birthday wishes and gifts. I know this is late, but with 6 kitties, mom is usually behind with our blogs. I was pleasantly purr-prised by my COTD win, I was not expecting that at all. Thank you!!!

We were surprised about the tom helping with baby kittens. Not many toms would help out with kittens!

♥ The two pictures of Baby and me in her gallery is when she was under sedation before her Forever Sleep. That's also the first time I had gotten to hold her during her 12 years of life. Petting was not an issue as she loved that!

Daddy thanks you kindly for your concern and for your prayers!!!
Today we are experiencing what Daddy calls "rollercoaster" weather!! Early this morning our temp was 59°!! It warmed up quickly and by 2pm it was 82°!! Then a line of severe thunderstorms hit and cooled it down to 65°!! It then warmed back up to 72°!! After that it cooled down to 69°!! But now it's back up to 72°!!

yeah..it sure isn't fun being stuck inside..i feel for ya...we all did get to go out today but mom said it was too cold to stay out for long..sigh..just isn't fair!
mom says she thinks winter has returned..it's going to be hard to get into the 60's this week with lots of clouds and rain..soudns like i'm gonna be in teh same boat as you..hey..maybe we could have a race inside..hehe..

Hello, sweet friend. We're a little late with some of our meow mails as mom has been very busy all day long. Sorry that you had another storm today, sounds like you've had a lot of rain the past few days. You know, when mom was in the mountains this weekend, it poured on Caturday. The rain never came to the Cathouse, same fur Sunday and yesterday. It looked as if it was gonna storm last night but if fizzled out. We've had a mice and hot day today, thankfully mom did not go to work. Same forecast fur us for tomorrow, hot and humid and a chance of storms. We need some rain as dad has been trying to get the grass to grow outside. Thank you so much for the grasshoper cookies with snake drizzle--those hit the spot. We made some micecream sammies and brought you some; we have catmint with cricket chunks and tuna rainbow with bat bits. We have enough so that you can have one of each if you wish. Hope that the Gang didn't go to bed already as Sophie brought her boxing gloves....MOL...hope mom is feeling better. Mom will be taking Strudel for surgery in the morning. She has some kind of growth on her belly that has doc stumped; mom doesn't wanna take a chance but of course, we hope that this is nothing serious. See ya soon, love ya.

Pearl Harbor, Honolulu … This memorial is a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives on a fateful day which launched the US into World War II when the Japanese military attacked on December 7, 1941.

Wikipedia tells us Pearl Harbor is a lagoon harbor on the island of Oahu, Hawaii, west of Honolulu. Much of the harbor and surrounding lands is a United States Navy deep-water naval base. It is also the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet. The attack on Pearl Harbor by the Empire of Japan on Sunday, December 7, 1941 brought the United States into World War II. On December 8, 1941, President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared war on Japan. In return, December 11, 1941, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States.

The USS Arizona Memorial is the most recognized icon of World War II Valor in the Pacific National Monument, a unit of the National Park Service. Access is gained through the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. Upon entering the visitor center, we head to the NPS Tickets & Information desk where we obtain free tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial program. While waiting for the tour to begin, we rent an audio tour headset, and explore the bookstore and exhibit galleries.

We watch a 75-minute program in one of two theaters. It includes a brief introduction to set the tone for the visit and a 23-minute documentary film which includes actual footage of the attack. After the film, we climb aboard a Navy-operated shuttle boat to the USS Arizona Memorial. Note: There are no public restroom facilities on the Memorial so we make quick stops before boarding our shuttle.

The Memorial spans the USS Arizona, a sunken WWII battleship which is the final resting place for most of her 1,177 Sailors and Marines killed in the December 7th attack. In the shrine room, we find a marble wall with the names of all of these men. In addition, we see a smaller marble wall, which lists the names of USS Arizona Survivors who, since passing away, have returned to their shipmates by having their ashes interred inside the fourth gun turret by Navy and NPS divers.

It is important to realize this is not a tourist attraction, but a memorial and grave that deserves to be treated with respect and reverence. This is a place of learning, reflection, and quiet contemplation.

Following our Pearl Harbor visit, we dine at a Five Diamond Hawaii Regional Cuisine restaurant, enjoying wonderful fish and local produce. The pineapple here is so very sweet. Tomorrow, we must head for the Dole Plantation.

We celebrated with Minnie Mouse cuppycakes (Mommy’s furiend who owns www.rosebakes.com made them for us). MerryBelle got a mew stainless steel Drinkwell Zen water fountain and Sissy got a red Petzip Luxury Stroller/carrier/car seat all in one. We also got a pink wand toy with a blinky ball on the end of it. You can see pics on the bottom of our pages. Of course, Casper Todd has already drooled & slobbered on our mew wand toy.

Thanks again for sharing our special days with us. Proverbs 27:9 says “A sweet friendship refreshes the soul.” So true!

I hope all is well on your side of the country. That is so awful about a big tornado. Mom has distant relatives that live in Oklahoma and used to live not too far from Joplin, Mo. She also has an ex-step son living somewhere in OK. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all affected.

Sounds like you had a good time watching the baby birds. That's one of the things I like about my flowerbed. Mom has feeders and a birdbath that attract the birds. I have lots of places to hide to watch and stalk them. Sometimes I actually catch one and mom rushes over to help it get away. Sometimes I get carried away and mortally wound the bird and mom gives it to Pearl, who promptly does what an outdoor kitty does.

Mom worked on my flowerbed in the back yard a little more last night. She is waiting for wednesday so she can start on the rock border.

I'm sorry to hear you got thunderstorms yesterday. I bet those are real scary to listen to! We were watching the weather channel yesterday about those awful tornados in Oklahoma. We feel so sorry for the children and the helpless animals. We hope your weather is not too bad. We always have you, your Mom and your family in our prayers.

So you got to see some baby birds?! I bet you were smacking your lips! My Mom would have chased me back in the house too! I hope they all fly away soon so it's not so tempting. I'm sorry to hear Missy is getting weaker. Is she sick? We will be praying for her too. We hope your weather is better today and pray for your Mom to have a good day. Keep those ugly ole worms off you! You don't want to bring them into the house!

My Mom must not have been reading the cat-signs from Whitey very well this morning, because Whitey got tired of Mom‘s petting and she let Mom have it with both paws! Ouch! Mom knew it was her fault for not paying attention more, but she had been distracted with Orangie’s playing Sniff and Run with Mom. Mom was laughing at his antics and didn’t notice Whitey was getting annoyed! MOL! Us cats have to keep these humans on their toes!

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the recent tornado outbreaks.

Top Reasons To Keep Cats Indoors – Part 2 (from cats.about.com)

Next to declawing, the indoor-outdoor question is probably one of the hottest topics for debate, with both sides polarized to their own views. For those holdouts for letting cats roam free, consider more top reasons to keep cats indoors.

• Indoor Cats Do Not Get Hit by Cars. According to one source, more cats are killed by cars annually than are euthanized in U.S. animal shelters.

• Indoor Cats Are not a Danger to Wildlife. Let's face it; cats are predators, & left to their own devices outdoors, will eventually chase & kill birds, rabbits, & other small wildlife. Most of us would rather not see our cats cast in a killer role, & keeping them indoors will help protect wildlife to some degree.

• Indoor Cats Don't Get Lost. As outdoor cats widen their outdoor territories, they may become lost long enough to be "rescued" by other cat lovers, legitimate rescue groups, or picked up by animal control as strays. Statistics show that of "owned" cats turned in to shelters, only three percent are eventually relocated with their owners. Collars can break, & even microchips do not guarantee a cat will not be adopted & kept as an indoor cat by someone else. Why take the chance?

• Indoor Cats Are Not Stolen. “Bunchers” are people who sell cats to laboratories for animal experimentation or research. Their prime source of cats is on the street. Even a cat sitting on his front lawn is fair game for a buncher. Other people pick up cats for use as "bait" for training fighting dogs. Both categories of cat-knappers are the lowest of the low, but they are out there.

• Rarely mentioned, but equally serious, is the possibility of skin cancer from over-exposure to the sun. White & other light-colored cats can develop squamous cell carcinoma, a serious, painful disease.

I don't believe in wholesale statements beginning with, "If you love your cat, you'll do this & that for them." We humans feel different degrees of love for our cats & express our love in different ways. My stance on the indoor-outdoor issue is not "proof" one way or another of loving my cat more than the next guy, nor did my previous belief that cats deserve to be outdoors label me as a "bad" cat owner.

However, I do believe in personal responsibility for our decisions, & ultimately, our decisions may cost us the loss of a very good friend & family member. It's a matter of weighing the benefits against the risks, & being willing to suffer the consequences of our decisions.

Hi Spongie,
Mom had a wonderful time in Hawaii but is home now. Well, the first four nights I would sleep at the foot of the bed and completely ignored Mom. I thought a little "punishment" was in order for her for leaving me so long. Well, I gave in and Thursday night I slept right up next to her. Mom says every night I am getting a little closer to her and cuddling more and more.
How have you been, Spongie? Going on your walks every morning and whacking the Gang every chance you get...teehee?
How is your Mom doing? We read on the CMR page that your Mom might have scar tissue growing around the new hip. Has the doctor been able to give your Mom any relief from the pain? We are keeping her in our thoughts and prayers each day.

Thanks for asking about my little paw. It is alright. Them antibiotcis are taking the swelling away and the redness is also gone, but the nail is still protruding, so we know more FRI.

We were hot hot hot today, it is still May and we hit 89*, can you believe that?? it was also humid, we were under a severe t-storm warning til 8pm, but we only had a 5 minute shower, mom said that was not even enough to water 1 flower, so mom watered her flowers at 8pm when the sun went down.

Right now we are watching our game, and we are ahead in the 3rd period, so maybe we will win this and be ahead by 2 games. Our arena is LOUD, you can't hear much of anything except for the fans. The announcers said it is deafening...MOL!!!

Mom said she will take a cool shower and drowen herself, she is so hot....she couldn't hang outside with the heat, so she came in and painted her dresser and vanity, but cause of the humidity it is taking forever to dry.

Glad to hear Mom's tummy is better and she was able to eat solid food. Hope she continues to feel better. Today was a much nicer day! The sun actually came out! Mom & Uncle took their mother out for a belated Mother's day lunch. They went to the Red lobster! No kitty bag! Bummer. Mom has appt Wednesday at the out-patient clinic. We had another beautiful day, 82 and sunny. Mom spent her afternoon working in the gardens and she got a lot of sun on her back. Not a burn just looking pretty tan. Oh yes, I sure did get outside to keep both eyes on those chippers. Also, those tent worms too. I like to bat them around and Mom is always telling me to leave them alone. What fun would that be??? it's Monday mom and dad met mom's friend Donna for lunch then after mom went to her son's so Dee could show her how to transfer her pictures from her cell phone to her computer...tonight dad stopped and picked up some cold cuts for dinner ...

It started out raining this morning, then the sun came out and we a had a fairly pleasant day, with a high temp of 82°, but now it's turned all cloudy again!! The weather should make up it's mind!!

Oh look - you're a blooming kittycat! MOL We always smell sweet when we come from vet, but mama never saw any flowers on our fur. Kara held mama's paw when she slept last night and ir made mama happy. I am doing my usual prowling and playing and when mama comes near, I raise my head for a pat. When mama filled our food jar, there was a little too much in the bag, so she made mountain on top and we ate it down for our lunch. Fun! Purrs - Kiska

Wow haven't visited with you in a long time. How are things? Been really busy here. I went camping with mom, got an infection, meds and a shot and am better now. Mom has been riding Sky and taking him on trailrides down the road. I have supervising mom in the making of a backyard sanctuary for me.

Now the only problem we could have with that box of wormies is if Customs decides to do a random inspection. Uh .. maybe you shouldn’t have put your return address on the box. OH, you didn’t!
