How We Met
When my family went to the Humane Society I found my owner before she found me. When she looked at me she noticed that I was a very sick cat and if no one adopted me I would be put to sleep. They said I would only last about 2-3 years, but Mom insisted on having me. So they inspected our home and I got to live at the best house any cat could have. I've been here for 8 years and going strong!

pawsing by...
sorry it has been awhile since getting around to blogging. Mommie has been rushed to death with the new Grandbaby and helping out. Poor thing has had bad acid reflux and cant seem to get situated on his formulas. Mommie is just about worn out but she is dedicated and determined with those babies. She celebrated her 49th birthday on March 29th. Me and Poppie gave her a really nice birthday treat as well with some new tennis shoes for the summer (IF it ever gets here)some new sandals too and some new shorts. Mommie and Poppie's wedding anniversary is tomorrow. They will be married for 26 years. Mommie says time has sure flown by. There were some rough times and Mommie said the hardest part of the whole 26 years was trying to just get along with the in-laws. She laughed and said she didn't mean it in a bad way or any thing but things actually got better all the way around after her FIL passed away in 2001. LOL!! We had a horrible storm here last night. It blew the trash cans up in trees and blew the butterfly away on one of my Mommie's windchimes and blew a tine off of another one. It blew Richie's dog house from one side of the front porch to the otehr side with him in it. Poor baby. He was finally brought inside until it was all over. I tell you Mommie said she had never heard or seen such hail. She and Poppie thought it was going to bust out some windows on the big bay window at the end of the trailor in the den. It was so beautiful yesterday too and the temps were in the high 70's near 80 and then BOOM last night it done like it did!! Now today it is COLD and very windy still. Mommie wont get to lay out in the sun much if it keeps doing like this, and then she is busy and tied up with the babies too. Well, 'nough said for now. Off to Cat College now.

**Welcome Back**
We missed you! It was great hearing all about your news. Sammy, bless your heart for anticipating your 14th b-day in May! Are you in good health? We lost our two older boys in 2010. Angel Tuffy passed a year ago Friday at the age of 16, and Angel Dusty went to the Rainbow Bridge in Sept. at the age of 17. So, last year was a very sad year for Mom.
Sounds like all of you kitty's are enjoying the good weather! It's so beautiful in FL this time of year! Happy Spring to you! Mom's been planting some butterfly bushes, day lilies, and irises along the back fence down from the Angels graves. It should be really pretty when it all fills in.
It's a good possibility that Mom could go into her pool tomorrow - yup, it's that warm!
So, it's only Ginger and me now and that's working out OK. We're both doing good!

Saw on your page someone said you might not last 2-3yrs-- Didn't see why, but you sure look OK to us. Mom had a cat named Sandy she rescued and he was almost starved to death. She had to hand feed him the first few days, but he lived to 23. Was maybe 15 when she found him. How are you today.50 here with hard winds out there,but got to go for my early walk,sure was lots of birds out singing good morning to me,I just sat under all MY trees and watched them sing and fly.I was sitting there and here came Oreo racing by me,mom said he was going so fast he looked like streak going by,hehe,I shook my paw at him as he raced by,sure would have liked to caught him.Looked under all MY bushes for mousey holes,lots of holes but no mouseys,I stuck my paw,way down in a hole,dug some,then yelled hey mousey come out and play chase with me,but no mousey came out ole,mouseys!Made my rounds to the barn,rooster was crowing,rabbit hopping,pigeon cooing,horsey looking at me,I said good morning barn animals,they all just looked at me as I went by.Ate some grass,gotta have my greens to stay big and have lots of wacking power,hehe!Then I saw Oreo hid behind MY tree,I sneaked up really quietly to sneak attack him and just when I pounced he saw me and ran,I was going to wack him good,but he got away,I heard him laugh as he raced off and said you can't catch me ole Spongie I can run faster and you are on a lead,that was not nice but I will get him later!Then,a big puff of wind came and almost blew me over and blew my fur all up,I want to go in now mom,and I led her back to the house,ole wind blow a kittys fur all off out there!Ate,checked out all toys,all ok,mom gave me a new bag yesterday,it was ok no one on it,Wicket was on it last night and he got a good wack for that!All treats in place,made a few rounds through the house followed mom,got tired of that,hey wait yaaa,I see mr. sun peeking through the clouds,I think I heard him say come on Spongie and get on your scratcher tree at the window and I will warm you up,so thats where I'm at now,good ole mr.sun,hehe,love you.Spongie.Hi nappy time,Missy on rug snoring,Blossie,Buddy,Baby on bed,Wicket in chair,Cindell eating,Muffy in his bed,that ole wind sure does scare us,love you,The Gang.Hi bringing you down a windy hug on my way to moms,back is feeling a little better today for her,yaaa,the rest helps,but she is still on heat as always,thanks for always thinking of her,Bootsie,Rambo send wind blown cloud kisses,love you,Angel Gypsy.Spongie here,ole wind go away,you make a kitty stay in all day,scare us when you blow against the house and growl like an ole monster,I will come back out there and wack you all over,hehe,Spongie!keeping the victims,families,animals in Japan in our prayers.Come visit me, Angel Gypsy,RIP My Sweet Angel Baby,I Love You, Angel Buddy,Love,Miss You Sweet Boy, "The Gang",Spongie's Siblings,Love,Miss You Buddy, Angel Rambo,I love and miss you my sweet angel boy, K. It was so nice of you to drop by - it has been a long time - your birthday back in October, I believe.
Your weather sounds really nice there. Isn't it fun watching those birdies in action!
It is really nice here today - Mom is doing some chores inside. But, tomorrow, Mom is going to do some yard work. She will be cleaning up the bird bath and feeders also. She will be watering the lawn - we think Spring is here. Mom has a to-do list for next weekend already.

Mommy has more responsibility at her job, so she does not have time to do much blogging for us as she is so busy all the time, she covers two states Colorado and Wyoming so its hard for her to keep up with our stuff and when she is here, she would rather play with us than be on the computer, we like that more anyway!!!! I (Vegas) am doing very well, I am taking my fluids (Which I hate) but Mom says its for my own good!!! I also have been able to go in the backyard on the weekend w/Mom and Dad and enjoy the sun, birds, and squirrels, its great!!!! Bombay is doing well too, he goes out with me and loves the fresh air, his poor little legs have been bothering him lately and Mom feels really bad for him, he is so young to have such bad arthritus, but we do all we can for him with the natural suppliments and things, too bad there is nothing safe out there for cats. We are also so excited that Bombay's picture has made the top 20 finals in the Animal Rescue Site contest, there were over 2000 entries....can you believe that!!!! We have one week (this week) to vote everyday, if you are on facebook, check out our Mom's page (Jeannie Menor) and vote for Bombay, we would love for our pretty boy to win, he is up against dogs, rabbits, and mice too!!!! We want him to win!!!!! Bogart and Bella are also doing great, Mom got them a new water fountain they really like and a new tent to play in, they really like it and have been doing really well. The weather here has been hot all summer , but at least we have very low humidity here in Colorado, we are happy about that!!!! And we have central air, so that is good, we dont want to be out there in that sun!!!! Let us know how you are all doing, we would love to hear from you and will check in as often as we can!!!! Happy Sunday Dear Friends!
Gone again?? We sure are missing you! Molly, who was YoYo's best friend has returned to us for good. She had a job as a therapy cat for almost 2 yrs. Hope its a fine day there! We are making rounds and dropping our votes, visiting friends. Very hot here. Mom finally took Barney out on his harness and leash. She promises him to do it more often, but she has a hard time being in the heat and doesn't dare leave him unattended. On the other hand, he loves to sleep and the side of the house, under the bushes and that can be for an extended period of time. She sits on a chair under a tree and tries to read.He is allowed to drag the leash in the ground, but mom makes sure it isn't caught on anything. Molly has settled in quickly, so now she has full run of the house with everyone else. Hefty is going for a dental this week on Thursday-- wish him luck. He may have a cracked tooth. Our dogs are well and the rats have settled in and are not shy of mom anymore-- or us either! Not that mom will ever let us play together! Andy is still being treated for the rash on his left leg and the lady who was supposed to see Milo at the adoption never showed-- Oh well-- the right home will come, when it comes and we love him just the same! Mom got THE ENVELOPE-- the one with the info for the start of school and her first week back to work, starting the 24th of August. Good Morning!
A happy Caturday to you! How is everything? Mom is back from her trip and had a fine visit with Angel Rusty's mom. Barney was given Angel Rusty's Pittsburgh Penguins' hockey jersey and he is so honored-- have to see the new pic! Barney was sneezing when mom got home and was rushed to the vet, who said it was viral, no temp and his lungs are clear, and put him on a lysine supplement to boost his immune system. Barney is sneezing a little less-- cuddling with mom helps. He is supposed to stay away from the other sibs, which is OK, because he doesn't feel very social right now anyway. The lysine supplement the vet gave him seems to be working, but not an overnight miracle-- even humans know how colds go mostly-- do nothing and it lasts a week or more, treat it and it lasts 7 days, give or take.Come visit me, Our Precious Angels #75646, Heffner #130639-----VFP Goalie, Barney's Daily Inspiration, Handy Andy #149735 VOTE WHISKERS 227256 K. So good to hear from you again! Yes, we miss our YoYo so much, but mom is comforted by the fact that she had come a long way from her feral beginnings and trusted mom, so when the time came to leave her painful body, she trusted mom and mom was able to bring her peacefully to the vet and hold her gently through the last minutes. Good Day, Dear Friends! First, I would like to honor all the Veterans and families of Veterans right here on the CC! My Momma is a Vietnam Vet, so this Holiday means so much to her, losing so many friends. Please remember, "Freedom isn't Free!" So many heroes have given everything so we can enjoy the Freedoms we take for granted, sometimes. Momma has traveled all over and still says, "There's No Place Like Home!" The United States may not be perfect, but have you ever wondered why others want to live here so badly? God Bless You All, and please think about what Momma wrote this morning. Give thanks for what you have and how lucky you are to live in such a wonderful Country...."Sweet Land of Liberty!"
These last few days I am posting recipes for either Kitties OR Doggies, for those that have the Canine Monsters like we do! Here is a good recipe for today:
VEAL STEW
Combine 1/2 pound stewing veal, 1 cup canned tomatoes, 1 cup water, 1 chicken bouillon cube, and parsley in a pot and simmer.
When meat is tender, remove all the bones.
For dogs, cut the meat in chunks, and mix stew with kibble or some other grain; for cats, grind the stew in blender, adding a tablespoon of wheat germ. (Just for kitties, you may want to eliminate the tomatoes, if your furbaby isn't the veggie type kitty.)

It's beautiful here today in Western New York, although it's supposed to be a scorcher! Mom planted some tomatoes and corn, so we are excited about them and will have to go out and water later on today. Perhaps after my catpaign has come to an end this month, I will add some human recipes next month. Mom loves to bake and cook, and even makes her own bread by hand when she can. Our tax man is paid in enchiladas, which is what he asks for in lieu of money! They are a heart attack on a plate though, with all the cheese. Mom has lots of things she makes that are really easy and fast, and the one that comes to mind right now is a fantastic cake made from scratch with Cream Cheese Icing! It's the BEST and EASIEST cake you will ever taste and make! She can't do it everyday, but once in awhile next month. Would you like that? Let me know. Now for today's kitty recipe:
FABULOUS FISH BALLS
3 baby carrots, cooked until soft
16 oz canned tuna in olive oil, drained
2 oz cooked herring, skin removed
2 tbl whole grain bread crumbs or oatmeal
2-3 tbl grated cheese
2 tsp brewer's yeast
Several pinches of chopped catnip
1 egg, beaten
2 tbl tomato paste (not ketchup)
Preheat the oven to 350*. Mash the carrots with the fish, bread crumbs or oatmeal, cheese, brewer's yeast, catnip, egg and tomato paste to an even paste. Mold into small balls and put on a greased baking tray. Bake for 15-20 minutes, checking frequently: the fish balls should be golden brown and feel firm. Cool thoroughly.

I WAS OUT IN MY FUNHOUSE FOR QUITE AWHILE FRI AND FELL ASLEEP EVEN.. I SAW CHIP AND SOME BIRDS AND A BUNNY HOPPING AROUND..GRAMMA AND GRAMPA CAME OVER AND BROUGHT DADS BIRTHDAY GIFT.. DAD AND DEREK CALLED.. THEY PICKED UP BOAT IN CHATHAM FRI AND ARE NOW AT COTTAGE.. THEY WENT OUT FOR PIZZA FOR DADS BIRTHDAY.. IT WAS QUIET HERE WITH DAD AND DEREK AT COTTAGE..DAD FEELS OLDER THAN 47!.....!..DAD WAS GOING BAZURK TRYING TO FIND FORMS HE NEEDED FOR HIS TAXES FRI DIVING MOM CRAZY!.. MOM IS GLAD FOR THE PEACE AND QUIET TODAY!..OUR LOCAL JUNIOR LONDON KNIGHTS ARE NOW OUT OF PLAYOFFS AS OF THURS..BOO HOO! MOM AND DAD WENT TO SEE GORDON LIGHTFOOT CONCERT THURS NIGHT HE HAS AGED ALOT.. NOW 71 AND THIN BUT.. IT WAS GOOD.. A GUY DRESSED UP LIKE ELVIS PUT MEDAL ON MOM IN RACE LAST SUN..SHE FELT GREAT AT RACE....SINCE THURS THOUGH HER LEFT ANKLE IS A LITTLE SORE WHEN ON TREADMILL SHE HOPES IT IS NOTHING SERIOUS.. NEXT RACE IS MAY 2ND SAME DISTANCE..MOM TAKES RYAN TO HIS #4 EXAM FOR 7PM AND THEN PICKS HIM UP ABOUT 930 PM AND THEN WE ARE GOING TO COTTAGE ..IT WILL BE A LATE NIGHT AND THEN HOME TOMORROW..DAD IS GLAD HE HAS HIS BOAT NOW.. SALMON DERBY IS APR 30-MAY 9TH..I HAVE BEEN SLEEPING MOST OF AM HERE ON MY PURR PAD..MOM IS GOING ON A LADIES RETREAT NEXT FRI -SUN WAY UP NORTH TO HALIBURTONS 6 HRS AWAY..SO NAPPY IS STAYING AT A NEW CAT COUNTRY RESORT 50 MINS FROM HERE.. NO CAGES JUST SMALL ROOMS WITH A WINDOW AND PERCHES AND HEATED FLOORS..FROM THURS TO MON.. Dear SSS,
We had a quiet Easter with MOm and DAd at our human sister's place for dinner. We have been into Mom's pretty potted flowers that she received after she had her surgery in March. Mom has had to put them behind closed doors when she goes to work to keep my furblings our of them.Annie and Abigail love to eat plants and throw up.I have been playing with the jingle ball lately, just to keep in shape you know.
I loudly let Mom know when I want to be brushed. I am shedding.Mom has been keeping her doctor's appts and will be starting radiation therapy in a few weeks. Right now she is just healing and feeling better and stronger all the time.

Glad you had a nice Easter, we did too. We had family over which made the weekend very busy. We like visitors tho, they give us lots of attention. They attended Easter Worship Services and were blessed. About two weeks ago we lost Tuffy, who was almost 16. He had kitty dementia and started shutting down. Mom's been so sad. It's warming up and it's time to enjoy the pool.
