Birthday note
Thank you for stopping by and wishing me a happy birthday. Yep, who would have thought that the last of that litter of 5 kittens would ever find a home. I was very needy and noisy and the staff at the Humane Society used to carry me on their shoulders for comfort. Then one day, this blond lady came by and fell in love with ME, but the guy was stubborn. She kept at him and 3 months later...yes, I was still there waiting for her weekly visits... she called my name and home I went. 8 1/2 years later, Dad and I have an understanding . The MHL Executive Committee is hosting the first SNOWBALL CLASSIC between past Cats of the Month aka The Royals and a few MHL-ers aka the PEASANTS.

At the RINK
News you can use.. I hope
I thought I should review some of the finer points of round #2.
ROUND #1 16 teams narrow down to 8 teams.
ROUND #2 8 teams to 4
ROUND #3 4 teams to 2-one from each conference
Scamper Cup Final.
cat loses to human teams:
1) The cat team has the option of assuming the roster of that team.
2) They can sit out.
3) The captain can negotiate with another cat team who lost to their human opponent. This will cost you several million catbucks, and you MUST respect the decision of the original captain/owner of the rights if they say no.
cat vs cat
1) one team doesn't go anywhere except the tv room with popcorn.
2) If other cat teams have room for a player, any player from the losing team may hop to a new team for the playoffs. I myself have 2 Scamper Cup rings from being a RR and #36 OC. MOL
The Pawrents WILL stay APP throughout the series.
STL can change to a cat team. I would assume FF would like to keep them.

Congratulations! YOU have been selected to participate in the 2012 ALL STAR GAME .
Although your NHL player was not chosen, we at MHL strive to include members from all the active cats and cat families. It is a complicated process as some cat's NHL player was already chosen and we have many cat families-almost too many to fill too few spots.
The NHL draft of which team you will play on is Thursday Jan. 26. The NHL Skills competition is Saturday Jan 28 and the NHL ALL STAR game is Sunday Jan. 29th.
The MHL game day and skills competition will be announced after discussion with the executive committee. We may be able to play it that Sunday.
Please let me know if you will be attending on the All STAR GAME page.

Entrance
A funky green Honda CRV pulls into the arena lot, and parks in the Commish's spot. Mom Sandy gets out, grabs her hockey gear from the back and calls out "Hey lardbutt, stop clutching your paws in prayer and get a move on. We got a game to play."
Casey gulps and stares at the Thanksgiving card he got from his Sweetie Becky. "I'm gonna keep this with me in hopes it brings us luck."
He hops out of Honda and stuffs the pretty card under his goalie jersey for safekeeping, then hauls his own gear into the arena.
"why don't I have a valet for this?' he wonders....

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE MONDAY
and all through the house
not a creature was stirring
Too many cats in the house.
When down from the chimney
there came with a laugh
the "Engagement Fairy"
whose wand had just broken in half.
"Well, shoot and gosh darn it"
"Now what do I do?
I can't leave good wishes
for the 2 orange whos."
What's a who? you may ask
And I might just reply
"It's that annoying bright color
that's (well) grey to my eye."
He gets right to work
opening doors, peeking in
Listening for the loudest snore
to find Haylee within.
"A ha! Good gravy!
Is that a buzz saw I hear?"
He whips up a paw
to cover an ear.
The fairy trips over
a few mousy toys
He waves his broken wand
and shouts over the noise.
"May your loved one be truthful and faithful and such... "
"May he not have to listen to your meowing that much..."
"May your long lives be merry, full of loving and care..."
"And forget about kittens, there's too much orange out there."
A whole bunch of giggling
Erupts from behind
The Green Mountain Gang's at the door
in a line.
"That really was touching" said Wally. "Any more?"
Then Holly doubled over and rolled on the floor.
"I better be going, before Haylee awakes.
Otherwise, a piece of my fur she may take."
The GMG kitties nod
as they stand side by side
in the hopes of concealing
some B&W hide.
The EF returns
to the chimney with care
then decides to use the front door.
He leaves with a flair.
"Adios! Mis amigos!
Au revoir and a Ciao.

A Special thank you from Sam's family...
We wanted to take a moment before the games begin tonight and tell you all what a wonderful job you have done with the MHL. Sam started the MHL as a way for friends and new cats on Cat Channel to get together and have some feline fun. What we see today in looking back at the pages is simply overwhelming. As many of you know, we had to leave cat channel quite suddenly after mom was accepted into Ohio State and never took the time to say a proper goodbye and mom feels bad about that. So now is the time to thank everyone who has kept the league going and made it bigger and better then Sam could have ever imagined. We first want to thank Casey who built upon the initial idea and has transformed it into something that Sam could only dream about. Casey you stepped in and kept the league together when it could have just withered away and our family cannot thank you enough for all the time you have obviously put into this. What we see today, the organization, the great jerseys and awards is spectacular and goes beyond anything we could have done ourselves. Casey you are one remarkable cat and we will forever be indebted to you for keeping the MHL going strong. We also want to thank all that participate in the league, from the nightly hosts, to the players themselves. Our family can look to the MHL as part of our Sammy's legacy and without all of you this would not be possible. We hope you all continue to enjoy the games and to our brother Sammy we say, keep your stick on the ice and may you always have an open net. It's an exciting time in the MHL. We've played 56 games out of 82, and 8 cat teams are in the top ten. 1-TIMs; 2-FF; 3-OC; 4-PHX; 5-CC; 6-KCK; 7-TCLN; 8-RR; 9-VFP;10-COL....13-KA..
Individual leaders are close too.
MOST points: WOLFIE-78; WINSTON-77; KIWI-71; SUGAR-70
MOST goals: KIWI & MAX-37; WINSTON-36
MOST assists: SUGAR-55
HIGHEST +/-: WINSTON-36
GOALIE: greatest save%: SCOOTER .932%
GOALIE WINS: CODY LEE & MIGHTY MACK-32
The Boss is in negotiations with the CHEESE HOCKEY LEAGUE. This league consists of famouse and important mice, and they are interested but cautious. Considering the number of mousepucks that get eaten during a game, the CHL commissioner wants reassurances that THEIR hockey players won't get eaten. Seems logical. We hope to have this ironed out by the March schedule.
And speaking of eating Mousepucks, the Commish also received a formal complaint from MOAS (pronounced mouse)-Mousepuck Official Advocacy Syndicate. They think we need to give out fines payable to the OIMP (old & infirmed mousepuck) fund in addition to on ice penalties. I believe the Boss's response was "Give me a break. It's a mouse!" More on that to follow.

TomCat blog
caser drives up to the Miami 6 house
he slides out of his Audi and opens the trunk. The M6 are watching from the window. "What do you think he is up to now?" Midnight asks. Kiwi scootches them over. "I'll bet he is going to try one of his hockey votes. Everybody, away from the window and put your helmets on."
caser takes out his goalie hockey stick and a mousepuck. "Now remember, I don't want to look bad, so hit the button." The mousepuck salutes. A.Tuxie notices her boyfriend on the front walk and goes to investigate. She has been out cloud hopping for exercise. "This I gotta see," she thinks.
caser puts the mousepuck in direct line with the vote button on the front door. "Are you ready?" caser asks. "No, this is gonna hurt whether you hit it or not," the mouse replies. Tuxie stifles a laugh.
"OK, heads up. Fore!" and the B&W goalie smacks the mousepuck who goes head over tail toward the front WINDOW. Tuxie flaps her wings, reaches the mouse just in time, flies him over to the button, and the mousepuck pushes it. CLICK! a vote for TomCat.
The Miami 6 howl with laughter, caser turns red at his awful slapshot, and Tuxie returns the mousepuck to him. "You know, Sweetie. You may be a great goalie, but leave the shots to me." Her Papa has had a tough year

She was the most fun at hockey though.
I never knew what she was going to do and she had way too many "licking the goalie" penalties..not that I minded. (The coach thought it was odd.) I gave her Kevlar sticks and her skill level really took a leap. Of course, between her sticks and my gear, there was little room in the Audi for us both.Come visit me, MHL Stuff, COTM blogs-2009, K. I even took her for lunch at Disney World on one of our first dates. I was really trying to impress her and picked her up in a helicopter. with a Red Hat hankie. "I'd like to tell you of a couple of our adventures. She was pretty game for an older lady. My Harley Davidson Night Rod scared the bejeebers out of her but she hung on as we zoomed through the time wormholes to ride the golden hills of California on our wine tastings. Casey begins--Thank you for spending a little time this evening in remembering my beloved Tuxie and also other kitties who have gone before. Yeah, Papa has gotten in the habit...
..of having the NHL game on (on another tab). With the sound on, he can listen to the game or check the game tab for a score update.
