How We Met
She was a stray kitten found at a quarry. A friend's family brought her home, but their cat wouldn't tolerate her. I volunteered to take her, sight unseen. I'd been pet-less for a year after marrying, and my husband had never had ANY pets at all (not even fish!)

Precious was rescued as a kitten from a litter of cats that needed serious loving. Turns out Adopted Human Mom was babysitting the litter when she took a close look and discovered all the kittens were very horribly sick and dehydrated. She scooped up Precious Kitten, the runt of the litter, and put her in the kitty hospital as tiny Precious had colonitis and worms. In fact, she scooped up all the kittens and SAVED them all! They were so appreciative, they all stayed and made her their Furrever MOM! Precious, her siblings and MOM all live very happy lives together! Precious has grown into quite the Lap Kitty, preferring warm human laps to anywhere else. Just check out her pictures for proof! She may have started life as the runt of a sickly litter, but pretty PRECIOUS is a darling dynamo now, packing more personality than all her sisters and brother put together. Precious loves to play with string, her favorite toy being a boot string. She carries it around to any available human to demand PLAY time! She also likes to play alone. If her siblings approach to play, Precious will just sit and watch them until they go away! Yes, Pretty Precious is QUEEN of the clowder and what she wants, Precious gets! You see, Precious has her Mom wrapped all around her pretty paws. Her favorite treats are cat mints, called Pit’r Pat’r. Precious will even jump for cat mints!

Shmoo's passing
I've not blogged in a while, as Shmoo has been ill with a urinary tract infection, and also was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Today I made the difficult choice to put her to sleep. I know she is in a better place, happy and healthy. She will also live forever in my memory as my "best beloved".Come visit me, Dark Shadow.

Mom let me out tonight while she planted a new mum by the mail box. I just love our huge fenced yard. A vast improvement over past homes. And Mom always makes sure she's out with me. I enjoyed laying in the cool grass and watching the fireflies.Come visit me, Dark Shadow.

A day in the life...
Today I managed to spend some time outdoors in our fenced yard while Mommy and her furless child were in their pool. I love laying in the corner of the yard and terrorizing the birds in the neighbor's trees. Unforturnately, our yard is treeless or I'd be scoping things out from a better height! We moved here from PA, and I've been enjoying the outdoors (supervised) much better. In all our other houses, my brothers and I could only go out on leashes. We were very good about it, but this is so much nicer.
My favorite Fancy Feast flavors are Seafood Feast, Salmon, and Whitefish & Tuna (I think those are the names). Mommy buys variety packs. I've tried the fancier varieties, but I don't like them as much. I also love it when Mommy makes herself tuna fish and drains me the tuna water. Sometimes she'll even drop in a few chunks of tuna with it.
In the evenings, I like to help with Mommy's homework: I prefer to sprawl on whatever book is open, and sometimes just a chin on the book is enough to say: don't even think of turning a page!Come visit me, Dark Shadow.

Leave the lights on for me
I have my mommy well trained - not only did she turn the bathroom sink water on for me this morning, but she left it running along with leaving the light on so I can come back to it whenever I want. The heck with that nice water fountain she bought me at the store. I like mine fresh from the sink!Come visit me, Dark Shadow.
