Hi Felicity, Tawnee, and Lovey,
Just stoping bye to say Hi. Happy Mothers Day give your mommy some warm wet kitty kisses and prrrs from me to her. I know your mommy doesn't come on that often anymore but that doesn't mean I can't say Hi. Spring has finally spung here mommy is thinking of getting two tomatoe plants this year some time next week she said she'll get them and she'll get some flowers too it will be beautiful again here. We still got Sheldon my brother turtle and yep I am a little crazy over him don't know why he just so interesting to me. Alex ny parrot brother is finally getting better with Sheldon too. My mommy neighbor on the side of us had a nest of baby squirrels they are now leaving the nest. They are like their parents they like to get real close to my patio window and tease me crazy baby squirrels. Hope your mommy has a nice Mothers Day.

As many of you know, 17 year old Minnie D Purrl crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday 4/2. Minnie was a member of a wonderful family of cats known as the Windy Point Gang.

We’re choosing to copy Dad Mike’s exact words that he used to tell us she had crossed--

“She was losing her battle with Hyperthyroidism and her quality of life had decreased dramatically over the last five days. This afternoon Minnie was assisted by our vet, Dr Madsen and myself on her journey. She was 17 years old when she passed.

It is particularly sad for me because Minnie had given me a litter of seven Easter Kitties when she was only 9 months old. I always celebrated Mother's Day with her on Easter. (Sigh...) This year we celebrated with some baby food that I held for her since she was too weak to stand and eat.

Minnie leaves behind her boyfriend Tiger Mann, who is the last of the original Windy Pointers...and of course, her sad Dad.”

Minnie is now a member of the Windy Point Angels #237234, those members of the Windy Point Gang who are now Angels at the Rainbow Bridge. We learned that this special group of Angels has never received their COTD badge, and we want to change that by making them our COTD winner on 4/6. Day 1
Thank you so much for asking me to run for COTM. I am so honored. This is the best bunch of kitties and I am so happy to be with you all.
Some of you might not know but I am a show cat. I have been in seven shows starting in Jan 2011. We don’t go to all the shows but it’s nice just to have mommy and me time. I’m going to tell you a little of how I felt in the shows, some of the rules and you can come to my gallery and see some of the pictures from the shows.
I have won 5 rosettes and mommy put up a shelf for me to display my rosettes and my pictures are around the shelf with my pretty rosettes around me.
Just so you know , you don’t have to be a purebred to be shown. I’ll tell you about that first, mom has me in the category of HHP( Household Pet). I will get into some of the purebreds afterwards if I have some time. I go to the CFA(Cat Fancy Association) shows. My last show one of my mom’s furriends gave her a booklet for the TICA(The International Cat Association) shows. They are starting to go to those shows too. We’ll read the booklet and let you know a little about those shows too.
I hope you enjoy my catpaign and that I can answer your questions about the shows. I know there are a few of you out there that go to shows too. Tomorrow we will start off with my first show, how I felt and some background.

Even though they haven’t been very active lately, Angel Chloe is a long time member of CC and was our December 2008 Queen. Most of you know Boo Kitty and her Mom Jane as the creators of the beautiful frames that many of you have received when you were a COTD winner! Boo Kitty came to live with her pawrents Jane and Rudy when she was just a wee kitten, and it didn’t take long for her to capture their hearts, followed by all of ours once we were introduced to this sweet Ragdoll! Hope you both are doing good hope your mommy is doing better too. My mommy been sick but getting better broncities hate that she scares me when she coughs Alex laughs at me when I jump LOL I guess I would laugh at myself too. The squirrels are back once in a while. I try my best to scare them off but there is one I swear he is laughing at me. We got tons of snow today kinda neat looking one of the bushes is spliting in two so now I can see the little butt squirrels now who is laughing. Well I found out my new roommate Sheldon is coming tomorrow hmmmmmmmmmmmmm wonder what turtle looks and smells like. Well I better go mommy will be mad if she found out I am up this late. Nighters.

How are you today.Cold here for us,did not get out of the 20's all day,mr.sun was out but the wind was so cold.Mom took me outside and let me sit beside the house where I could get some sun and eat grass,but then a big ole puff of wind came and I wanted back in,I pulled mom in the house that time,hehe.I sure have had a running spree today,Around,around through the house,toys,rugs,and all scratcher boxes flying all through the air,then I pushed the condo across the floor again,mom said Spongie slow down in there,do you want the house to fall,hehe,I was sure having fun today,then Wicket came through I chased him,when he runs it does sound like the house is falling,then here comes Baby and she got a wack cause she was looking at my condo,mom got the pinching stick and cleaned everything all up,when ole pinching stick came out,ole Spongie ran the other way,hehe!Mom just looks at everything and smiles,she said us furbabies sure keeps her going.Then I went and explored in my apartmentfor awhile nothing there so I came back up and when mom went to rest there was mr.furry mousey laying in 3 pieces on her bed,hehe,mom said Spongie I see what you were in her doing little man,ahhh mom I did not do that I think Wicket did it,he was laying on your bed,mom said there must be a not me monster living here with us Spongie,hehe,she had to throw mousey in the trash.Now I'm all worn out and napping.,Pawhugs,Running Spongie,Gang,Angels.Hi,thanks so much again for all the thoughts prayers for me,I'm doing so much better and I went big potty 2 times today,that sure made mom happy,she tried to do 2 happy dances,hehe!Now I'm napping on my little rug after eating good for mom.Mom sure has had another bad day with the pain but she said she could stand the pain as long as I was ok now,thanks for always thinking of mom also,pawhugs,big ole 2 time potty Missy,hehe!!Hi Aunty Mom Sandy,love you all!!!

Just read the update on Mom Lynn on CMR which Mom and I were waiting and praying for. Thank you so much for keeping us informed.
Angels Sir Leo, Lily Rose & Rani joined Spongies angel sibs to stay with Mom Lynn during her surgery and sprinkle her with their angel dust. We love Lynn so much and want her free from pain and surgeries. We love all of you and miss you so much. Sandy, you are always in our prayers and thoughts and pray that things are going well for you, sweetie. You have been such a special friend to Mom and so many other moms on CC, but we understand that you must take care of yourself. Please don't blog back. Just read your up-date on Lynn and wanted to come by and thank you for it! When you talk to her next,would you please tell her we are praying for her to have good health!? We have left blogs on Spongies page,but figured she might not feel up to reading a lot of blogs for the next few days.

Our Levi was at the vetspital for three days,and came home yesterday afternoon. His Dr. Thinks he has a blood parasite/disease and is treating him. He is beginning to eat,and is taking his meds very well. I was very worried (scared) I would lose him. He is still not out of the woods. Hope all is well with you and your fur-babies! & lots of happy purrs after reading your blog about Lynn on the CMR page. Thank you dear Felicity for keeping us updated about her condition.

Shhh...be very quiet...I'm hunting the wascally white whirlwind & she can be very elusive. She's somewhere close because I can hear her rustling so I must be very careful or become the pounced upon instead of the other way around. Look...there she is under the couch! We'll slowly work that way so as not to alert her to the danger she's in. Closer...closer still...almost there...EEK...she just darted out & whacked me across the ears as she ran off! (Alarm sounds) Calling all whirlwind chasers...please be on the lookout for a white, fast moving kitty with gold spots & tail. She's clawed & dangerous so approach with caution. Repeat...approach with caution! Report her whereabouts immediately to special agent Trixie (that's me...MOL)of the feline pounce patrol so that she can be brought to justice for impersonating ME as she scampers & romps around the house. There can be only one cyclone & I'm it...MOL! Well, until I hear where she disappeared to I'll take a catnip break & meow some family mews.

Mom got her Jeep estimated for damage yesterday...after having a short panic moment when she couldn't find her keys. The repair shop is booked up until the 28th so she'll be taking it back then so they can work on it. It's mechanically sound so they told her it was okay to drive it so mom reminded dad that he needed to clean up the sticky pop that splashed everywhere. Now back to the panic time mom had...MOL! She searched all of the places her keys normally are but couldn't find them. At a loss on what to do since she had to be at the shop in less then 45 minutes, she called dad. Dad to the rescue...MOL! He brought her his key & went back to work. When he got home they searched for a long time but still no keys. Total bummer for mom since her set is the one with the remote start, plus has her house key on it too. Finally a light bulb lit & mom remembered wearing another coat that had been put in plastic in the closet. Dad looked & sure enough...there were her missing keys! She was very relieved but felt silly because she didn't remember wearing that coat so now dad has more ammo to tease her with...MOL!
Oooo...I just saw movement out of the corner of my eye. Could it be...nope false alarm...it was only Zaboo. Well got to go pick up the trail of my elusive victim...err...suspect so will meow at you again soon.

How has your day been.It was 60 here today,almost like spring time out there, and mom took me,Missy out for a little while.Mom said it helped her feel better getting to take us out,and watch me explore,play while Missy is on her lap with outside kitty Spotty laying bside them and Oreo laying where I can't wack him,I let Spotty lay beside mom but when Oreo comes I do give him a wack.Mom loves to watch the outside kitties,and hear the roosters crowing and get fresh air,we all love our outside time together,and it helps take moms mind off worrying for a little while.Then I have been tearing all through the house playing,jumping way up in the air,toys flying all over,mom just shakes her head and smiles at me while Gang peeks around the corner,and yep mom had that ole pinching stick again picking up after me,I sure stay away from that ole pinching and ole cane monster,they sure can get a little kitty like me,hehe!.Mom had another pretty bad night again,so she,I were up half the night,but she is doing better today,she said I was the bestest little nurse ever.Thanks so much for keeping mom in your thoughts,prayers,that makes her feel so much better,she is going to hang in there.Tell Lovey,Tawnee,Aunty Mom Sandy hi for us,love you all,sending you all pawhugs and a hug for Aunty Mom Sandy,Spongie,Gang,Angels

Dear Q. Felicity,
Hi there Felicity! I haven't blogged to you in quite a while. My Mama is pulling an all-nighter so here I am. I am curious to, well...my Mama is curious to ask you how the weather is in Richardson? My Mama grew up in Irving and she'd like to check in on the weather. She now lives here in Phoenix, AZ -- our lows have been around freezing and our highs around 60* or so. We had rain the other night, but nothing freezing. Please give my Mama a weather check before she loses her mind. MOL! I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed holiday season and you got many pretty, new toys and such. We had a great holiday. Santa was good to me. Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope you had a great christmas. Mommy got stuff for me and alex earlier so we didn't get any gifts from her for christmas but I did get some gifts from my mommy friend and her cat Abby. Mommy says you guys don't come on much but its ok I still can talk with you. She had a christmas party this year and she said she was soooooo proud of me I did really good. I hid most of the time but I did come out and watched I didn't do anything to anyone and they forgot about me. So I felt safe and I am getting better around people. It's been cold here so I like to cuddle with mommy at night she likes it. I just found out I'll be getting another animal brother soon. He isn't here yet. Mommy is getting a turtle she is naming him Shelldon. hmmmmmmmmm never seen one so I don't know what to think. She has this tank in my room she said its for the turtle nothing special so I leave it alone. Mommy is happy with me she thinks me and the turtle will get along. The Green Mountain Gang & GMG 2 are doing something we have never done before--campaign for one (actually 4) of our own!! Momma has not been on CC in a long time and even though she remembered my anniversary date, she did not come on to thank everyone else for remembering and visiting me on my 1 year of passing. I say better late than never. I am spending time with two other angels in my family, Frannie and recently Katie. Dear Q. Felicity and Mom Sandy,
Thank you so much for your kind words of comfort to my parents. My crossing was way sooner than they expected. Mom knew that I was leaving by Saturday night but still hoped deep down that I could rally. At only age thirteen, she thought I had years more on earth. But when it became clear that I was not going to live much longer, Mom prayed only that it would be painless and easy for me, and that I could cross from my home, where I felt safe. Both of those prayers were answered, and for that Mom and Dad are grateful. We are also grateful for the love and support of all of our friends on Cat Channel. Victoria ...
... at the south-east corner of Australia, is the smallest mainland state. Tasmania sits to its south. The most densely-populated state, its capital and largest city is Melbourne, where our ship docks.

From here we head out to the Melbourne Cricket Ground which is the largest stadium in Australia, and the host of the 1956 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XVI Olympiad. An exception was the equestrian events, which could not be held in Australia due to quarantine regulations. Instead, those events were held five months earlier in Stockholm, Sweden, marking the second time that events of the same Olympics were held in different countries. (At the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium, one sailing event had been held in Dutch waters because of water quality). The 1956 Games were the first to be staged in the Southern Hemisphere, as well as the first to be held outside Europe and North America. It was in swimming that the Australians really shone. They won all of the freestyle races, men's and women's, and collected a total of eight gold, four silver and two bronze medals. United States men dominated track and field. They not only won 15 of 24 events, they swept four of them and finished first and second in five others. The crowd was with the Hungarian water polo team in its match against the Soviet Union which became known as the Blood In The Water match. The game became rough and, when a Hungarian was forced to leave the pool with blood streaming from a cut over his eye, a riot almost broke out. But police restored order and the game was called early, with Hungary leading 4–0. The Hungarians went on to win the gold medal. Despite the international tensions of 1956 – or perhaps because of them – a young Melburnian, John Ian Wing, came up with a new idea for the closing ceremony. Instead of marching as teams, behind their national flags, the athletes mingled with one another as they paraded into and around the arena for a final appearance before the spectators. That began an Olympic tradition that has been followed ever since. We stand in the center of this enormous stadium, imagining what it would be like to have competed here. Galaxy and Verona are running the track; Hercules hovering above them. Oh, my family. Sassy and Sam think it would have been nice to watch the swimming and diving events. We will not, however, visit that venue, although the pool is still in use. Steve has found a large wooden container and is standing on it in a victory pose. Soon, Steve, soon.

One of Victoria’s most stunning natural features are The Twelve Apostles, a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park. The site is a popular tourist attraction. The apostles were formed by erosion: the harsh weather conditions from the Southern Ocean gradually eroded the soft limestone to form caves in the cliffs, which then became arches, which in turn collapsed; leaving rock stacks up to 148 feet high. The name of the site sticks despite only ever having nine stacks. Our cameras get a lot of use here. What a gorgeous place.

We head next to see the Little Penguins which are the smallest species of penguin. Little Penguins have several common names; they are also referred to as Fairy Penguins because of their tiny size. Like those of all penguins, their wings have developed into flippers used for swimming. They typically grow to 12 to 13 inches tall and usually weigh about 3½ pounds. The head and upperparts are blue in colour, with slate-grey ear covers fading to white underneath, from the chin to the belly. The flippers are blue, and the feet pink above with black soles and webbing. Galaxy and Verona are waddling about like the penguins. Oh my goodness, Sam and Hercules are doing the same. My family!!! Naturally, I take pictures of them all.

Like most seabirds, they have a long lifespan. The average for the species is 6.5 years, but there have been very exceptional cases up to 25 years in captivity. Little Penguins live year-round in large colonies, with each individual breeding pair forming a burrow in which to raise their chicks (of which two are born at a time, usually about 2 days apart). Little Penguins typically return to their colonies to feed their chicks at dusk. The birds will tend to come ashore in small groups to provide some defense against predators which might pick off individuals one by one. In Australia, the strongest colonies are usually on cat-free and fox-free islands. We are fortunate to have been given special permission to visit here. A viewing area has been set up at the Phillip Island Nature Park where we watch the nightly "penguin parade". Lights and concrete stands have been erected to allow us to see but not photograph the birds interacting in their colony.

We head back to the ship, knowing we will be pulling out of port in a few hours. There are pics at the bottom of my page. Soon we will experience yet another adventure.

South Australia's capitol city Adelaide ...
… was voted Australia’s most livable city. It’s also the gateway to the unique and iconic Kangaroo Island, today’s destination.

Minutes from the mainland, Kangaroo Island is a sanctuary for wildlife and natural, rugged beauty. This place is like a zoo without fences, with rare bird life, wallabies, and plenty of kangaroos and koalas. We make landfall at dusk since wildlife is most active at this time. We are thrilled to find that Penguins can be seen on shore after dark; many of them have graced us with their presence. The youngsters are especially excited to see penguins so close. They say they feel like they are IN the zoo.

After a night spent in tents, we discover koalas in the trees. Like other marsupials, a koala mother carries her baby in a pouch until it is large enough to ride on her back or belly. What adorable things they are.

A short ride in a Jeep has brought us to yet another fun spot. We are going to try Sand-boarding at Little Sahara. All of the guys and some of us girls have decided to try this one. The sand dunes are quite high and the ride down on a sand-board is exhilarating. Just don’t wipe out; that sand is not a comfortable landing zone at speed. It will take some time to comb the sand from our fur but, oh, it was so worth it.

On the way back, our Jeep passes a number of kangaroos and wallabies. We don’t stop though, as they can be a bit aggressive. This is spring in the Southern Hemisphere, and there are definitely joeys (baby kangaroos) in their mothers’ pouches.

We finish this day diving in the clear blue waters around Kangaroo Island where we see seals and many other marine creatures including the famous Leafy Sea Dragon, 8 – 10 inch creatures which look like seahorses covered in fall leaves.

Finally, we make a stop at Clifford's Honey Farm where we taste an interesting sparkling honey drink. While here we see a hive and a DVD showing how honey is harvested. In the shop area are lots of honey products and souvenirs. For 20c you can have a piece of cat safe chocolate covered honeycomb, which Galaxy and Verona try. Soon we are all enjoying the sweet repast.

Western Australia ...
... offers some of the most varied travel experiences.
We have pulled into Perth. Our explorations here will take us from an artificial reef to Tree Tops. Are you ready to begin?

The HMAS Swan dive wreck is one of Western Australia’s most spectacular artificial reefs; a mecca for scuba divers. The former destroyer escort was scuttled in 12/97 - but really this was just the beginning of the Swan’s new life as a world class dive wreck. Since she was scuttled thousands from all over the world have dived her. This is an extremely successful artificial reef and dive site. Anyone that has dived the Swan can honestly say it is mind blowing and diving at its very best! Several of our guests have opted to don mask, fins, and tanks, and … wait a minute, Steve … we are going in pairs!

Once below the surface we can see she was sunk in an upright position. The wreck now has an abundance of marine life and is rapidly establishing itself as a bountiful artificial reef. We explore inside and out, keeping our partner in sight at all times. Ummmm … Hecules? Where are you? Oh, you silly … sneaking up behind me.

Back on dry land, we head inland to the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk which gives us a bird's eye view of some of the tallest timber giants on Earth - Western Australia's majestic tingle trees. Climbing 131 feet into the forest canopy and meandering through the treetops for 1/3 mile, the walk trail is the first of its kind, designed to maximize views. Most similar canopy walks around the world feature suspension bridge structures, which are not for the faint hearted. The Tree Top Walk however, is a series of 200 feet high light weight steel trusses built on steel pylons to form a secure ramp.

Prince Angel Hercules escorts me onto the bridge, which is not at all frightening. Come along, everyone, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Galaxy follows Hercules’ lead and offers his arm to Verona. What an adorable couple they are. Then youth kicks in and off they go, scampering literally among the treetops.

Adjacent this is a walkway that allows us to enter the Valley of the Giants, the grove of towering old tingle trees. These giants are found nowhere else on Earth and some have been standing for over 400 years. Some of the trees here are up to 52 feet in circumference at the base. Standing beneath these majestic giants, breathing in the cool forest air, is a humbling experience.

We opt to stay for the Forest by Night tour which allows us to enjoy the Tree Top Walk under a canopy of thousands of stars and to see some of the nocturnal creatures that live in the forest. We share our walk with Sassy and Sam; lots of hand holding. MOL!

A tasty repast is ours on the bus trip back to Perth. A good night’s sleep and we will head out for South Australia. Pictures of today’s adventure are on my page.

The Northern Territory ...
…is the least populated of Australia's states and territories. Darwin is its capital city.

Famous for its rich wildlife, it has many national parks. Today we will experience the waterfalls and waterholes, bushwalks, four-wheel drive tracks, birds and wildlife of Litchfield National Park, a convenient day-trip from Darwin.

There are several safe, natural swimming holes, and today we will cool off with a swim in the crystal clear plunge pool under the permanent spring-fed Wangi falls. We’ll then sit and soak in the three-tiered cascades of the rock pools at Buley Rockhole, shaded by rainforest.

For those who prefer to explore the park on foot, lace up your boots and pack swimming gear for a short bushwalk through cypress pines and cycads to the Tolmer Falls viewing platform. The caves in the red cliffs below protect two colonies of rare bats (Mom’s gonna love this). Then stretch your legs and follow the 3.5-km trail along pretty Walker Creek.

If you wish to save your energy, jump in a four-wheel drive vehicle and make your way to the sandstone relics of the Lost City or the uncrowded plunge pool at Tjaynera Falls.

However you choose to explore look out for the hundreds of species of fauna that live in the park. Wallabies, sugar gliders and flying foxes are all common here. And be sure to keep your binoculars handy to spot the Yellow Oriole, Figbird, Pacific Koel, Spangled Drongo, Dollarbird and Rainbow Bee-eater that inhabit sheltered areas close to waterfalls.

Once back in Darwin, we delight in Mindil Beach’s Sunset Markets where we sample international cuisine from 60 food stalls, choosing from Sri Lankan, Turkish, Greek, Cambodian and Japanese. We then eat on the beach while watching the sun sink into the ocean as we enjoy Darwin’s predictable 89.6 degree year-round temperature.

Australia's tropical capital city dines on Asian-influenced food, enjoys an outdoor lifestyle, and the beauty of some of the world's most important natural places on its doorstep. No wonder Lonely Planet listed Darwin as one of the world's top ten cities to visit in 2012.

Later, we shop for a gift or souvenir at art and craft stalls, and treat ourselves to a locally-made ice-cream or mango smoothie as we watch the fire twirlers, musicians and street performers entertain the crowds. A picture of the swimming hole beneath the falls is on my page.

Australia's Great Barrier Reef ...
… the world's largest coral reef, lies a short distance off the north-east coast and extends for over 1,240 miles (2,000 kilometers). There are many species of colorful fish, including the beautiful clown fish … we would need more than one visit to try and count them all. Larger marine species include the migratory gentle whale shark; humpback, southern right and orca whales; numerous dolphin species; and a number of shark species. We have opted to explore this area from a nice sturdy ship today; glass bottom viewing stations will make this possible.

Prince Angel Hercules and I have brought young Galaxy and his girlfurriend Verona down to the glass bottom viewing area. We have seen some incredible sea creatures, admired seamounts that are truly enormous, and an amazing array of corals. Every color in the rainbow is seen in the fish and sea plants; how very lovely. Some of the fish have expressed an interest in us, pressing against the thick viewing plates from time to time. We are amazed to learn there are about 30 species of whales, dolphins and porpoises that live in or visit the reef.

OH MY! A shark has come to the viewing window! Suddenly I have Verona in my lap and Galaxy is hanging around Hercules’ neck for dear life! We assure them this is only a grey reef shark which is harmless. They claim to be reassured, but the two young ones stay a LOT closer to us than the viewing port.

Our guide tells us Australian sharks are now protected but shark populations are decreasing everywhere in the world and we know very little about the consequences because sharks are in the top of the ocean ecosystems’ food chain. In fact we know so little about some most important species of sharks that we cannot even keep them alive in captivity. The Great White Shark is the most infamous of Australian sharks. It is the largest of predatory sharks in the world. Despite having the reputation of “killing machine” (thanks to the Steven Spielberg's movie “Jaws” more than any attacks) the Great White Shark does not target humans as a prey. Galaxy and Verona smile at the guide’s reassurances but continue to stay close to us.

We return to our own lovely ship and enjoy a sumptuous meal, the young ones taking advantage of the buffet service to indulge in many exotic dessert offerings. Okay, I confess. Hercules and I did the same. Tomorrow we will have arrived in Darwin, at the extreme north of the continent. Adventure ashore awaits us.
