How We Met

My daddy found a pregnant kitty on his porch one night (my mommy kitty)He felt sorry for her and took her in. He fed her took her to the vet and let her stay with him until she had me and my brothers and sisters. I was the runt of the family and when it was time for us to move to hard food, I wouldn't touch it, and my mommie kitteh wouldn't let me drink anymore milk. So I was starving my huuman mommie one day smashed up some food on her finger, picked me up opened my mouth and rubbed the food on my gums. She had to do this a few more times before I decided I liked it. Now they call me fat cat!

Hello, kittehs. Today I address you for the final time as your Queen of December. Your Queen thanks you for your support these past two months, during my catpaign and during my reign. Furrendships have been made along the way, and for these I am most grateful.

2009 has brought terrible sadness with illnesses and losses; yet, also it has brought joy, with new kittehs being adopted into furever homes, birthdays and adoptiversaries being celebrated, and bonding of the CC family as never before.

It has been a privilege and an honor to serve you. And while it was difficult at times to bring some news to all of you, I delighted in the notes I received of your day-to-day lives; from diets to redecorating the Christmas tree for your pawrents; from sudden escapes and equally sudden recaptures and withdrawal of treats as punishment; from illnesses to restored health; from daily activities to purr therapy for a sick pawrent.

My final hope is that now you will continue to delight me, from being loyal subjects to being life-long furrends.

Take care, my dear furrends. Luv one another, share one another’s burdens, take pleasure in one another’s victories.

Farewell, kittehs, and hugs, Felicity
Your retiring Queen of December, 2009

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU!
Happy Christmas, every kitteh and family♥.

Congratulations to our Christmas Day COTD Winner “The Foster Kitty Page”
Today vote Jake #142474 COTD

With broken hearts and many tears, we grieve the passing of our dear, sweet furrend, Colonel LEO #42598 – Space Command is now controlled by him from Heaven.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy 10th Birthday, Jake #142474-----
WE WOULD LIKE TO SURPRISE JAKE #142474
WITH HIS VERY OWN COTD BADGE TOMORROW
IN CELEBRATION OF HIS 10TH BIRTHDAY TODAY.
Jake’s diagnosis of cancer was devastating to his
parents, but the vet was able to give them good
news that his cancer is treatable, with surgery and
possibly chemotherapy. We can’t think of a better
Christmas gift or Birthday gift for them and Jake than
a vote today towards his very own COTD Badge.
SO PLEASE, GO BY JAKE’S PAGE #142474 AND GIVE
HIM THE GIFT OF A COTD VOTE TODAY!!
(Because Jake's Mom will be devoting all her time to caring for him, they will be unable to send thank yous. We want her to know that Jake's getting better is all the thanks we need!)
"Off to one side sits a group of shepherds. They sit silently on the floor, perhaps perplexed, perhaps in awe, no doubt in amazement. Hi Garfield, Mom and all!
CONGRATULATIONS to our ACOTD Winner Roxie!
Remember to vote Maggie Moo #111371 COTD today.
VOTE DAILY FOR BUDDY #69967, our COTM Candidate for December
Did you know? To follow in the footsteps of our past illustrious Kings and Queens is an honor I cannot find the words to describe.
I want each and every one of you to know how much I appreciated your support, your votes, but most of all your furrendship.
If there are typing errors in this blog, I ask forgiveness for my secretary Momma, who just cannot seem to stop crying! I brought her one of my birdie ropes to cheer her up, but she only cried harder. Then she picked me up, hugged me, and mussed up my fur, then smothered me in kisses! Excuse me while I bathe.....
I feared this crown would be heavy; but, I find it light as a feather, because I know it is supported with the help of all you wonderful furrends who voted for me to receive it. Thank you, all of you, for making this possible, for electing me your Queen of December, and for giving Momma and me this memory that will last a lifetime.
Your Queen bows to YOU.....With luv wrapped in hugs, Felicity
BEFORE I GO
When my life has reached it's very end, and I take that final breath,
I want to know I've left behind, some "good" before my death.
I hope that in my final hour, In all honesty I can say,
That somewhere in my lifetime, I have brightened someone's day.
That maybe I have brought a smile to someone else's face,
And made one moment a little sweeter, while they dwelled here in this place.
Lord, please be my reminder and whisper softly in my ear...
To be a "giver", not a "taker", in the years I have left here.
Give to me the strength I need, open up my mind and my soul,
So that I might show sincere compassion and love to others before I go.
For if not a heart be touched by me, and not a smile was left behind...
Then the life that I am blessed with will have been a waste of time.
With all my heart, I truly hope, to leave something here on earth.
That touched another, made them smile and gave to my life worth.
Hi Garfield!
Hello, furrends – old and new! Did you know? It's impossible to fold a dollar bill in half eight times, doubling it each time. In fact, try it even with a large piece of paper. It can't be done.
CLARIFICATION ON KING NAMES IN A DECK OF CARDS.
MY “DID YOU KNOW?” SECTION YESTERDAY SHOULD HAVE READ “LEGEND STATES” each of the four Kings were named after Kings in history. This practice was used for a brief period of time during the mid-15th century, but later disregarded as unsubstantiated. The Queens and Knaves (Jacks) also were not named after any specific person. I apologize for the misstatement of facts.
Congrats to our COTD Winner Gidgit
UPDATE FROM SNOWFLAKE #10546: Our Mom is scheduled for major surgery tomorrow – please keep her in your hearts and prayers. Thank you.
PLEASE: say a prayer for Frosty’s Grandma #11912, who has been in the hospital since Nov. 23rd.
I have saved the naughtiest Church Bulletin mistake/humor for last....
UPDATE FROM TIMMY #8851: A gray film has formed over his eye, and he has a vet’s appointment on Tuesday. His Mom sees another doctor on Monday, hoping for help with her pain control.
I think this Church Bulletin humor is appropriate, after yesterday’s feast...
Thank you, kittehs, for your votes, and have a great day!
The company is gone; there are stains on the carpet.
Moms are exhausted, and tablecloths are forfeit.
Hi Garfield!
Hi, purrpals! Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Did you know? Despite its reputation for being finicky, the average cat consumes about 127,750 calories a year, nearly 28 times its own weight in food and the same amount again in liquids. In case you were wondering, cats cannot survive on a vegetarian diet.
Congrats to our COTD Winner Kittzi!
Hi Garfield!
THINKING ABOUT YOUR MOM, HOPE SHE IS FEELING OKAY THIS MORNING.
Happy Friday, every kitteh!
This, without a doubt, is the most interesting bit of little known trivia.....Did you know? In 2004, the Army named its first ship after an African-American. That man was Robert Smalls (1839-1915). Smalls was born to a slave mother and a white father in Beaufort, S.C. Smalls began working for the United States Navy and became a hero in the North. Smalls was also sent to Washington, DC to persuade President Lincoln to permit black men to fight for the Union. He was successful; 5,000 African-American men were allowed to enlist in the Union forces at Port Royal as the 1st South Carolina Volunteers.
Smalls was taught to read and write by tutors and after the war he became a major general in the South Carolina militia and a state legislator. He participated in drafting the constitution of the state in which he had been a slave. He was the most powerful black man in South Carolina for five decades.
Robert Smalls served five terms as a U.S. Congressman during Reconstruction. For nearly 20 years he served as U.S. Collector of Customs in Beaufort, S.C. where he bought the house in which he had been kept as a slave.
Congrats to our COTD Winner BeBop #121104
Hello, kittehs. It’s hard to believe Thanksgiving is next week, and Christmas only a month after that.
Did you know? It is possible to lead a cow upstairs...but not downstairs. (Felicity side note: and before any of you rush back to my page to ask why – it’s because their knees can’t bend to walk downwards)
PLEASE KEEP PEPPER #125654 in your prayers, as she has a vet appointment today and a possible shot.
UPDATE ON ET #147060; she is eating better now since her Mom and Dad returned from their trip, but doesn’t care much for her new C/D food for bladder stones, which her siblings like. Anyone have suggestions on food she might be able to enjoy?
Hi Garfield!
WE GOT OVER 2 INCHES OF RAIN LAST NIGHT, IT IS 48 AND VERY WINDY, AND WILL ONLY WARM TO ABOUT 51 TODAY – HAPPY FALL!
It’s Monday, kittehs. Ever wonder WHY it is called “Blue Monday”? It is because Monday is regarded as a depressing workday in contrast to the pleasant relaxation of the weekend. However, "Blue Monday" is also a song written by Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew in 1955. It was popularized in a recording by Domino in 1956, on Imperial Records (catalog #5417), becoming one of the earliest rhythm and blues songs to make the Billboard magazine pop music charts, peaking at #5.
IN LOVING MEMORY OF A FALLEN HEROINE—HEATHER PICK CYGAN, ONE YEAR AGO TODAY
Early life
Born in 1970, Pick was raised in Platteville, Wisconsin as one of seven children in her family. Her father worked for a lumber company, her mother as a homemaker. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She became a news anchor at WREX after an internship there, staying for almost 10 years in Rockford.
Career
Whil- e at WREX, she met her husband Joe Cygan, a Chicago-area native (and great-grandson of Chicago mayor DeWitt Clinton Cregier), who was also employed by the station.
After moving to Ohio, she became a newscaster at WBNS-10TV and worked closely with Jack Hanna of the Columbus Zoo, even appearing on an episode of The Late Show with David Letterman as Hanna's assistant. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is dedicating a bench near the park entrance in her honor.
Pick worked alongside actress Mary Tyler Moore in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. In 2007, Pick recorded an album titled "Circle of Support". A collection of original and cover songs all sung by Pick, the CD was released through the organization A Christmas to Cure Cancer. She continued working for WBNS during much of her illness and appeared on air for the last time October 1, 2008.
Journey’s End
In 2004, she learned the cancer she had beaten in 1999 had returned and spread to her pelvis and spine. She participated in many breakthrough new treatments, and shared her life and story on television and at numerous fund raisers. Heather lost her battle with breast cancer on November 7, 2008 at home in Columbus, Ohio. She left behind a devoted husband and two children.
Heather Pick Cygan was 38.
Thank you, kittehs, for your votes!
Hugs, Felicity #92039
=^^=VOTE LISA MARIE PURRSLEY #95426 SUN 10/12=^^=
A.k.a. Mimi, this darling kitty had a rough start in life and was found by a rescue group wandering the streets of Philadelphia homeless and pregnant. They placed her in foster care. After she had her kittens the irresponsible foster mother ended up abandoning them too! Luckily, the Purrsley mom heard about the situation and opened her door and her heart to Mimi while another foster Mom took the kittens. Mimi and resident Jelly bonded instantly. When Mimi got sick and had to be isolated, Jelly and Mimi cried to each other for days. As soon as they were reunited, Jelly groomed Mimi and her Mom knew she would just have to stay. Mimi is now part of the Purrsley family and has a wonderful home. She loves everyone and they love her back! Please visit this newest celebrity and give her your vote on Sunday for COTD. Monday is Canadian Thanksgiving so please visit Nappy #68109, our COTM candidate and wish him a Happy Thanksgiving. Thanking you in advance for your support with a tuna pie garnished with whipped cream and a Greenie! You cats are the best! Love, Nellie and Reggie White (back home again!) for the Catpaign and Mews Room 46883.
Come visit me, Reggie White~Missing, But Forever Remembered, Nellie~Happy to Be Back on C.C.! Happy Easter! & Jennings-Happy Easter Week!.
