Education: I really just like to run around outside all day then come in and sleep. My owner must think I'm special though because a couple years ago I got a bad cut and it got pretty bad but I pulled through.
My favorite tricks and treats are: Not many, I'm not as playful as I used to be. But I think I'm getting to be a good hunter. and Any type of treat.. as long as it tastes good
Where I hang out: I like the outdoors, and in my owner's bed.
My favorite grubs: Anything really, but I love tuna and milk.
My pet peeves: When people don't pay attention to me when I meow constantly for something.
What I love about my owners: She's really nice, but we don't spend as much time together as we used to. But she lets me sleep with her every night I want right by her side.
My cat hobbies: I like to hunt.. not as much as my best friend Shadow though. I hope to be like her someday. Running around close to home is what I do.

The German Rex--a different breed of cat
The German Rex is a small to medium-sized cat, and because she stands so high on her legs she can appear to be a large cat. Because of the fine boning on the German Rex, she may feel almost dainty, but this cat is athletic and not at all fragile. The German Rex has a round head with large ears and eyes that look large for the size of the head. She has a strong chin and long, slender legs. The tail is also medium in length, and is well covered with fur. The coat on the German Rex is unusual as it has no guard hairs, is silky, short and curls naturally. The whiskers also curl. In terms of PERSONALITY: The German Rex is a breed that becomes involved with her owner. She loves to be right next to her humans and must have some time with them every day. In general, she loves being handled by her owners. The German Rex is an athletic cat and will maintain her ideal weight if provided with enough space for exercise. Because the coat is close to the skin, you will easily be able to tell if your German Rex is getting too heavy.
A spontaneous genetic mutation in the cat world is not common. In 1950 in Cornwall, England, the first Cornish Rex kitten was born of a barn cat and an unknown sire. The owner took this curly coated cat into her home, named him Kallibunker, and began what became the Cornish Rex breed. One year later, another wavy-haired female, Laemmchen, was found living on the grounds and in the basement of the Hufeland Hospital in what was then East Germany. Her owner also knew nothing about her background. In the late 1950s, Laemmchen had a litter with two curly coated kittens, even though she had nothing but straight-hair kittens in several earlier litters. This litter became foundation of the German Rex breed. German Rexes were first shown in 1960, and quickly spread from Germany to France, England and the United States. For a time, confusion abounded as to the separate nature of the Devon Rex, the Cornish Rex, and the German Rex. After the Cornish and German Rex were interbred, they were found to be genetically compatible. Unlike the Cornish Rex-Devon Rex breeding, which produced only straight-coated kittens, the Cornish Rex-German Rex breeding produced curly coated kittens. In some parts of Europe, some Cornish Rex can trace their ancestry back to German Rex foundation cats. As a result of the genetic similarity between the Cornish Rex and the German Rex, the German Rex is no longer bred as a separate breed in many countries. Today the breed is rare, even in Germany. Minskin Cats are the subject of today's lesson
At first glance the Minskin cat is an odd-looking little fellow--quite a departure in appearance from the "normal" cats we have grown to embrace as family pets. A hybrid cat breed that is a cross between a Sphynx and a Munchkin cat, the Minskin cat is a relatively new and rare breed. Because of this, finding a Minskin cat to adopt can be quite an extensive search as demand exceeds availability. Created in about 2000, the Minskin cat may look a bit strange at first to most cat-lovers, but their winning personalities are certain to make those fortunate enough to adopt one happy for many years by supplying true affection and loyal companionship. The Minskin cat is a small feline with a compact body and strong musculature. They generally feature large and beautiful eyes, short legs and a very sparse coat that is accentuated by small areas of fur on their legs, ears, face and tail. One of the great things about Minskin cats is that they come in nearly every conceivable combination of colors possible, so a possibility exists to find the exact color match that is most desirable to a particular owner. An odd fact about the Minskin cat is that they retain their youthful appearance well into adulthood, with many humans mistaking an adult Minskin cat for a young kitten. Also, because of their small stature Minskin cats are ideal for those residing in small homes or apartments. Minskin cats have an amazingly outgoing and friendly personality and as such get along with just about every living creature, especially humans. Minskin cats thrive on affection and attention and are the perfect cat breed for those searching to adopt a good lap cat. A new home presents no problem for the Minskin cat, as it adapts quickly to new surroundings effortlessly and gets along very well with both other domestic pets as well as with older children. In short, the Minskin cat thrives on any type of friendly interaction with human or other animal and is a tremendously eager to please pet. Minskin cats love to play regularly, and are very good at communicating their needs and wishes to their human companions.
Minskin cats require about the normal amount of grooming as most other cats, the only difference being that the Minskin needs to be bathed regularly. This helps keep it's skin clean in order to prevent associated skin issues. (information courtesy cat-breeds.findthebest.com)

Ojos Azules (Blue Eyes) is the breed today
This new breed of cat became known in the year 1984 in New Mexico, when it descended from Cornflower, a tortie female, and was found among feral cat populations. This cat had extremely dark-blue eyes that are usually found only in white or colorpoint cats. Ojos Azules cats have dark-blue eyes no matter what their coat color. In 1991, T.I.C.A. published a standard for the breed. The breed is quite rare. The name of this cat, Ojos Azules is taken from the Mexican words for "blue eyes." The Ojos Azules cat is of medium build, with a triangular-shaped head, big round blue eyes and a rather long shaped muzzle. The coat can be in a wide variety patterns and colors. Before the appearance of the Ojos Azules cat, blue eyes were only seen in totally white cats and Siamese. These cats appear in a variety of coat colors, and they all have blue eyes. Also, their coats are soft and silky. The depth of color in the eyes is greater even than that found in Siamese cats, and it does not cause squinting, deafness or cross-eyes. It is interesting to note that these rare and newly-found cat breeds are generally found in the wild. Of course, it is usually some time before they are recognized as a breed. It was found that the blue-eyed cats should be bred with a cat with different-colored eyes. The mutating gene was found in the blue-eyed cats, so when two blue-eyed cats were bred, there were some deformities such as a flat end of the tail. In 1992, only ten of the Ojos Azules cats were known. To this point, no true standard was made, and no cat registration recognized them. So far, only cats expressing the deep-blue-eye gene have been called Ojos Azules. After the genetic investigation by Solveig Pflueger, breeding resumed in a small way as attempts to breed Ojos Azules without the deadly genetic defects. The result of these investigations is that breeders must cross the blue-eyed cats with non-blue-eyed cats, producing a litter of about 50/50 blue/non-blue-eyed kittens. In doing this, only half of the kittens are then actually of the Ojos Azules breed. This avoids having at least half of the litter being deformed and/or dead kittens. (info courtesy Yahoo.com)

Hi All! Today’s cat breed is the Serengeti.
The Serengeti, which is a cross between the Bengal and the Oriental Shorthair, is a medium size cat with a long lithe body yet very muscular and strong. The Serengeti has strikingly large, round tipped ears equal to length of the head. Placed directly on the top of the skull, they are one of the breed's main features. The other distinctive features are the bright round eyes (usually gold or amber, sometimes green) and long graceful legs. The neck is relatively long and thick, and does not taper (keeps the same width throughout it's length). The medium-short tail is thick, with a slight taper from the base to the tip. The tail should not extend beyond the shoulder when laid across the body. The head is a modified wedge, being longer than it is wide. The chin is strong and the cheeks should not be prominent. Overall, the Serengeti resembles the Oriental Shorthair but with heavier boning, longer legs, larger ears, and much more upright posture. Male Serengeti cats weigh 10 to 15 pounds, females are smaller and weigh 8 to 12 pounds. In terms of temperament, the Serengeti has an open, friendly, and self-assured temperament. They are active and can be vocal, but less than their oriental ancestors. Ready to play for hours, they love to climb and chase toys. In a new location, they can be shy for some time, but it doesn't take them long to adapt and quickly become an always-ready-to-help companion that follows you everywhere. They love to get on high places and enjoy running through the house at full speed. Properly introduced, they get along well with other pets. Serengeti cats are well suited to living indoors only, but they will need plenty of cat trees and toys. Indoor / outdoor living would be best though, provided that the outdoor living area is a safe, escape-proof enclosure. The coat is short, tight and silky. It is easy to take care of: once a week grooming should be fine. The color of these cats can be yellow to gold with a pattern of distinctly, widely spaced black spots. They can also be solid black, cold grey with black spots or bright silver with black spots. The Serengeti is known to be naturally robust and healthy. There's been no evidence on any breed specific health issues. As with all cats, it requires proper nutrition, a constant supply of fresh clean water, and annual veterinary visits. Outdoor cats need to see a vet at least four times a year. With a balanced diet and regular health care, the Serengeti will live a long and happy life. (Information from mysmelly.com)

The rumble of 11 Harleys can be heard as
the Hairballz Rainbow Riders approach Camille’s house. Each bike has two flags representing their honorary members, Doodlebug and Yum Yum.
Cyndee, Dasher, Kiska, Kuzi, Q. Lola, Mallow, Talley, Thundie, Vika, Zoe Monique and Ammie park their bikes, take off their helmets, gather their goodies, and pounce up to the door.
They ring the doorbell and when Camille opens the door, they all shout ☆Congratulations COTD☆! Our cat breed today is the Burmilla
The Burmilla is a medium-sized cat, but it is also stocky and heavy. This cat is somewhat compact while being very muscular with heavy boning. The Burmilla is a cat that is very rounded. The head is round and the tips of the ears are round. The profile shows a "break," and the eyes are very slightly slanted. The coat of the Burmilla is short and soft. Because of the original pairing, the coat is also thick and dense. In terms of personality, the Burmilla is a fairly placid cat. They tend to be an easy cat to get along with, requiring minimal care. The Burmilla is affectionate and sweet and makes a good companion. Burmillas are good climbers and jumpers and should have cat trees and perches. The Burmilla is a sturdy, stocky cat and you might have to watch his weight carefully, particularly if he does not get enough exercise. Modify his nutrition if you need to do so. While Burmillas are placid cats, they also love their daily playtime. They love being adored by their guardians and having their stomach rubbed and being petted. A daily petting session is a must for any Burmilla. The Burmilla must be brushed daily to remove the loose and dead hairs from the coat. The brushing can be incorporated with its playtime. The Burmilla started out as an accident. In 1981, a Chinchilla Persian male and a Lilac Burmese bred, and the female delivered four kittens. These kittens had an unusual black-tipped coloring. The look of these cats was so attractive that a breeding program was inaugurated to produce a cat that would have the short hair of the Burmese, the roundness taken from both breeds, and the unusual coloring seen in the initial kittens. The Burmilla is rarely seen. In Britain, it is still an experimental breed, and it is not yet accepted by the major registries in the United States. (Hillspet.com)
