Thank you for your kind words, prayers & sweet thoughts. Like many of you, Mommy knows all too well about kidney disease. Her Dot passed away at the age of 17 from kidney disease & hyperthyroidism in October 2000. Mommy had hoped it would be a very long time before she was faced with this awful disease again. She will do her very best to give me the greatest care possible & lots of TLC.

I am eating the k/d canned and dry foods pretty well so far. Mommy says it is extremely difficult having one baby on a special diet. But we are doing our best with this situation & taking it one day at a time.

Thanks again for your prayers & concern. We really do appreciate it. Job 12:10 says “In God’s hands is the life of every creature.” We believe this to be true.

How are you? Yesterday I visited Dr. William for my annual checkup, blood work (CBC, 6-panel, T3 & T4), shots and 3-month Schirmer eye test. First the good news – my eyes are doing well.

Mommy’s intuition told her something was going on with me, so now the not-so-good mews. I am in the very early stages of kidney disease:
My BUN level = 38 (normal is 16-36)
My Creatinine = 2.6 (normal is .8-2.4)

Dr. William says we caught this early. For now, we are going to treat it by changing my diet to Prescription Diet k/d. So far, I am eating both the k/d canned and the k/d dry food. We will recheck my levels in 3 months.

I also have a UTI, so I am taking Clavamox, the wonder drug. My thyroid level (T4) is in the “grey area” so Dr. William sent some of my blood to Texas A&M so they can run a test called T4 by Equilibrium Dialysis. We should receive those results next week.

As you can imagine, Mommy is very upset, stressed, & worried about me. Please keep us in your prayers.

Happy May to you & your family! It has returned to our normal kind of weather today, but our weekend weather was pawsome. It got up to near 80s, which was very rare for us here on the coast. My pawrents loved it, but it was a little too warm for a furry me. I'm so used to temp around 60s.

May 6, 2013--- Guess its about time!
Good Monday Morning! Have a super day! We want to apologize that it has been forever since we did a good round of blogging on CC. We are well and have told a few friends that mom is planning a big trip to visit family in Norway this summer. Also, a cousin from Norway will be returning here for a visit after. Mom has to do some painting and work on the house too or arrange for it to be done. Kitty care and a house-sitter is arranged. Doggy care is in the works. Mom got her e-ticket and her Passport came Saturday.

We also feel guilty that K.Barney did promise continued stories time to time and so far we have not! Well, we do have one for today, but will have to keep it short. Not a story mom is too proud of, because she should have listened to Angel Pasha, who you met during our Catpaign. One summer night he bit her arm to wake her out of a sound sleep and then ran to the window. To mom's credit she looked out, but did not see anything, so chased Pasha from their room. He tried to protest and kept running to the window, but mom still did not see anything and did not investigate further. Well, she did lean her lesson----- in the morning she talked to her neighbor and found out he had been gone that night and his house was robbed! Mom felt so guilty that she had not done more, but she was so tired and did not see or hear anything from where she was. She sure learned that cats may have more of a sense when something is wrong than most humans realize. Of course, there are still times when we kitties just can't sleep and we want some company.

(='.'=) Our Parents Are Back!!(='.'=)
... and we´re sure happy to have them with us.
Mom & Dad came back from their short trip to Rosario last night. They had fun and it was a nice break in the middle of the month. Rosario looks pretty much like Buenos Aires, although the river is closer and it´s a little bit smaller. Dad spent Thursday and Friday morning at the cardiology congress while Momma was walking around and visiting the shopping center. She was really glad to find a kitty-woman doll at a huge toys store named "Balloon City". And of course, she bought it. MOL!! Yes, I know, that´s our Mom. Isn´t she a big girl to be visiting toys stores? Anyway...
Mom and Dad left Rosario on Saturday morning and on their way back home they spent one night in San Nicolás de los Arroyos, a lovely small town which is 300km far from home. Our parents wanted to visit the church of Maria del Rosario de San Nicolás. Virgin Mary of San Nicolás is very miraculous and is visited by many, many people everyday coming from all over the country.
Mom prayed for our families and all our friends and also for the homeless animals over the world.
She brought Grandma & Great Grandma a box of alfajores (sweet cookies with dulce de leche) and fresh fruits and vegetables they bought in the farms close to San Nicolás.
We hope you have a purrfect night and a wonderful week!!

How was your weekend? Ours was nice except for those loud thunderstorms yesterday which began at 2 a.m. and lasted until after 8 a.m. We received several inches of rain & lots of thunder, lightning and wind, thankfully no damage.

Did you know that April is National Pet First Aid Awareness Month? Your first-aid kit should include phone numbers for your veterinarian, extra bottles of prescribed or packaged medicines (like eye wash), hydrogen peroxide, gauze, adhesive tape, non-stick bandages, tweezers, a small flashlight, round-tip scissors, and a topical antiseptic or antibiotic, plus clean cloths & towels.

Also, be sure to have your pawrent’s name, address & phone numbers attached to your carrier. Ever since Hurricane Katrina hit us, Mommy keeps a first aid kit & a hurricane evacuation kit ready for us, just in case. We never know when it might come in handy.

Thank you for your support and your votey. I appreciate you coming by every day to visit me. I hope you are enjoying my catpaign and a look into cat shows.
It is fun and scary at the same time at the shows. People are coming by your benching cage looking at you and asking if they can take your picture. I think I should get a can of fancy feast mornings if they want my picture but does mom say that NOOOOO she just says yes. It’s not her picture they are taking. I know you all agree with me. I’m the Star.
You mostly see the same humans and kitties. Sometimes there are newbies and we help them with their cage set up and how it works. They bench a newbie with some of the kitties that have done shows for a while. I know not every kitty is cut out to be a show kitty. Mom knew I was the one. I will run to the door if I hear someone knocking. I just need to know who it is. I played with her nieces and nephews. Mom says I just have it. I don’t know what it is and I just might not want to have it. If Callie was here I know she would know what it is and would let us all know.
You can look under Cat Fancy Association or CFA and The International Cat Association or TICA to find shows in your area/region. You can find the information on showing and what you will need. I like getting a mew toy. Mommy and me time is the best. I don’t have to share mommy with my sisters. Of course they are alone while we are gone. Hehe
If you have been in a show, I would love to hear about it. I know some of you kitties have even won some rosettes. Let me know what category you show in too.

'stuff' has been happening around here! So much,that I am way behind on my blogs! First,thanks on the well wishes for mom's mother...she is now out of rehab as of this past Wednesday,and at home. Then mom spent a lot of time deleting pages and making mew ones...the woman just can't make up her mind! Changes were also made in the cat enclosure! Dad shut off the down stairs part so he could plant some grass in it,but the boys are NOT happy about it! Brother Dixion is no longer confined to the enclosure,as he was so unhappy,he was getting very depressed and aggressive to the others,so mom let him out. Andy(inside boy) kept dashing out the door so much that mom let him GO!,because she feared he would trip her or dad up trying to escape! Now,we live out in the country,and WAY off the road,otherwise mom would never have let them out. Second,mom has an appointment with an orthopedic doc,as it seems she might have a torn meniscus in her right knee. She has had that surgery on the left,so knows the drill! Sorry for being so long-winded today,so I will wish you a happy Sunday and I am going to take a nap!~Purrs,Bart

Good Morning Furrrinds, I will be your mew GPC Reporter for April!

I will try to visit as many furrriends as I can this morning with what time mom can spare!

I have become a real dad's girl as almost everytime he sits in his old wood rocker, I'm there ready to jump up on his lap! MOL! Dad loves it when I'm on his lap and pets me up really good as I fall asleep. What a life!

I still get hissy at the other kitties and even slap them when I can with the xception of Sassee 10605 as she will just sit or lay there watching me. Once in awhile her and I will get in a hissy and growly match, but mom always makes us stop!

There isn't a day that goes by that someone isn't hissing around the house! MOL!

Thank you for coming to my Happy Birthday pawty. Mommy says it is hard to believe that I am ➐ years old already. It seems like just yesterday that I was a cute little six week old kitten, and now I’m all grown up & weigh over 15 pounds. No matter how big or old I get, I will always be Mommy’s little baby boy,

We decided to travel to Ireland to find a fine Irish Kitty to be our St. Patrick’s Day COTD on March 17th! And, lo and behold, we found a family of cats who have been CC members for over five years. Millie #60253 is the Queen of this family. She came to live with her Mom after her Mom’s dog crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Her Mom’s sister brought Millie to her as a gift to help her heal. Millie was joined later by a brother Dinny and a sister Rihanna. She loves to explore the great outdoors and is quite an escape artist. Who could blame her wanting to spend time in the beautiful Irish fields and gardens? Let’s make this a very special St. Patrick’s day for Millie and her family by leaving her a vote on Saturday so she can become our St. Patrick’s Day COTD!

Yes, she lives down near the lake and that is a lonnnnngg way from us. LOL. He is doing fine so far. I miss him. But I know where he is. Our neighbors that took him, turn their heads when they drive by our house now. Every one in their house does this. I really do not understand people these days. This lady at the horse club has catssss and we can get another cat, but I don't know if I want to. I think they the neighbors will take that one too. I was wondering if maybe they just didn't like seeing the cat outside, but then I thought, they do not take any one else's cats. Just ours. Guess they don't like our cats to be outside. I don't know! LOL

Happy belated Valentine´s Day for you all!! Mom said she would help us to catch up in our kitty blogs this evening.
It has been hot and wet over the past days and we are waiting to have some rains soon.
Since we´re officially done with the baby-sitting of doggies and kitties for this season, Mom said it was time to clean up our house yesterday morning. I was having my napp, dreaming of mice and catnip when the mischievous lady came with her awful vacuum cleaner and woke me up!! That was rude of her. I hate that thing.
It eats everything on its way, including mousie toys. I hiss to it.

2/12/13 Happy Second Tuesday of February! +17
King Barney here--- time is going so quickly here and our friend JosieMae #193862 is doing so well on her Catpaign trail for Queen of March. Do keep sending her encouraging meows, as we well know it is not as easy on the trail as it looks.

The weather here at the castle is cold, but we did not get as much snow as we thought. It was heavy and wet though and hard to shovel. Good for ice sculpture, however, and the prep for Thursday's carnival is coming along beautifully. The Carnival will be on all day Thursday, but, if kitties like, we can do live some live blogging between 6:30-- 8:00 Central time. You have to adjust the hours for your area. Thursday's blog will list all the activities and if you have have suggestions, please let us know.

Well, just enough time for a short story for today. This one is about another kitten named Tigger too. This kitten was rescued some years back by a Salvation Army Chaplain, who worked at a homeless shelter in our city. He called the rescue's hotline late one night, with the story of a tiny orange kitten he had found in a snowdrift. The kitten's ears were bloody and itching something fierce, but otherwise he seemed ok, just cold and hungry--- very hungry. The kitten had the worst case of ear mites mom had ever seen. Anyway, the chaplain was attached to the kitten, but couldn't afford a veterinarian. Mom had ear medications at home, but knew the kitten really needed to be seen by a doctor, so she took it on a temporary basis. The chaplain was in the process of moving and promised to call back in a few days.

Again, we must cut this story short and finish on Thursday. Do apologize for leaving you hanging. Mom also promised to hunt for pictures of the two Tiggers and post them on the Daily Inspiration page, but we have to find the charger for our camera. Will be sure to do that as soon as we are able. 2/2/13 Thank You--- Happy Caturday! King Barney
A very good morning dear Furrends of the CC Kingdom! Wow! Day two! Yesterday we all worked out paws to the bone moving in and want to thank all the kitties, who celebrated with us at the coronation and ball afterward and helped with the move yesterday. We could not have done it without you. Thank you Steve for rescuing Zeus from the storage shed out back--- he was mumbling something about looking for a port-a-potty. Thank everyone for all the donations to storm victim kitties and families. Most have already been delivered, but we shall keep the room available for any donations for those, who may need emergency supplies ongoing. Donations may also be brought directly to Julius Steven's page, as it is his original idea, for which we are all grateful.

Molly wants to thank Chyna, Sandy, Ana, Haley as volunteer chefs and all the kitties helping stock and help out in the royal kitchen, so we can have drop in dining for any kitties in need or just needing a place to warm their paws a bit and chat with furrends,

Our official blogs will be Tuesday and Thursday, with other days allowing us time for more purrsonal replies and time for mom to get a bit of rest! Several kitties have asked if we will continue our rescue stories. That is fine with us, if that is what you want--- there are many more to tell! We want to remind everyone we are planning an ice carnival for Valentine's day and hope you will all contribute to the planning.

Have a Super Caturday all. Up to +1 here at the Winter Ice Palace--- see the picture on the bottom of K.Barney's page #74382. Today is an adoption day for mom and Zeus. While we are not sure if we wish them luck, do wish luck to all the other kitties and dogs at the event. Will keep you posted. Love to all, K.Barney and family.

1/29/13 Good Tuesday Morning from Barney-- +31
Last Tuesday of January? Got fitted for robes last night! Sure is a strange feeling.Kind of warm here again today, but they promise by tomorrow night we will be back in the sub-zero range. Just doesn't feel like a real Minnesota Winter without it! Hope all of you are ready for a real mystery today, because the story is a strange one.

I do hope someday mom can get the pictures changed to digital, so we can post them. The cat in today's story was named Midnight and when mom fostered her as a kitten, she did not have a speck of white on her. She was cute and friendly and soon had a new forever home or so we thought. The problem started when she was five months old and went for her big girl surgery. All went well or so it seemed, but the next morning her pawrents noticed some of the dissolving stitches had come out. They immediately called the vet and brought her in. By the time she got to the vet all the stitches were out and her intestines were exposed, requiring immediate emergency surgery! Now her condition was such that it was even debated whether she could be saved or not. The vet did his best, but had to remove all of the bowel and most of the small intestine due to contamination. The adoptive family was very upset and called mom,because they were not sure they could care for Midnight. She would require a special diet, vitamin supplements and other medications, possibly for life. When she returned home, she also had bad diarrhea and was not always able to make it to her potty box on time.

After trying to care for Midnight for less than a week, the family decided it was best to return Midnight to mom, since she had more experience in caring for a cat with special needs. At first Midnight had to be kept caged, was on Imodium AD and a number of other medications, which controlled the condition, but did not cure it. Mom was concerned about all the medications and Midnight's lack of progress. She decided to contact a holistic vet friend, who had helped with Pasha towards the end of his life.

Whoa, we are running out of space here! You know what that means-- stay tuned tomorrow and the best is yet to come. Don't fret, its a good end, I promise! Mom will see what she can do about the pictures too. Have a Super Tuesday! Barney and all.

How was your weekend? Saturday I visited Dr. William for my yearly checkup, shots & blood work. All of my tests were purrfect - urine sample was clear, poop sample was negative for all parasites (yea!), temp was good, skin & ears looked great, blood work (CBC & 6-panel including BUN, Glucose & Creatinine) was all normal! I weighed 15.5 lbs (which was less than the 15.13 on our digital pet scales at home) so we LOVED Dr. William’s scales! As expected, I need my teeth cleaned. I have that appointment on Thursday, Feb 7th.

After arriving back home from the 30 mile trip, I ate & went tee tee and all seemed well. Then about 2 hours after we had been home, I started going from litter box to litter box, getting in & doing a few drops. Mommy panicked & called Dr. William on his cell. William said that I was probably having a bout of interstitial cystitis from the stress of my trip & vet visit. I had my first occurrence of this in 2009. William said to do what is comforting to me which is to be held preferably by Nana and to eat. So that is what we did the rest of Caturday & Sunday. Mommy & Nana did not let me out of their sight. Dr. William said to call him back Sunday morning with an update.

Mommy is happy to report that since late Caturday, I have been doing great – no more pacing from one litterbox to another, just going normal potty. As you can imagine, Mommy & Nana are much relieved. Dr. William was pleased to hear the good news. He said that usually when stress causes the interstitial cystitis to reoccur, it does not last but a day or so. I mostly slept yesterday, although I did play a little bit with my wand toys. After being so sicky in 2009, I became a very clingy, needy boy. So Mommy tries to keep me happy & stress-free.

I take Resources Urinary Tract supplements every day since July 2009 to help prevent this type of cystitis. At night, Mommy mixes this with some of my Cat Chow Naturals dry food & water and I eat on that all during the night. But Friday night I could not have it because of my bloodwork Caturday morning. Of course Mommy blames herself for me being sick. That is just what Moms do, isn’t it? Even my PawPaw was worried about his “little buddy” & both of my sisters were concerned too. Sissy was even “nice” to me, she did not hiss or growl at me, not even once!

Interesting Valentine's day picture. So you are the welcoming committee? Cool. My Mom was not feeling well yesterday and didn't do any blogging. She spent a couple hours on the bathroom floor Saturday night with her head by the hopper. I went in to check on her. She was just groaning and not making any sense. She only ate Ritz crackers and drank ginger ale yesterday. So we got behind again. Hope all is well with you. They are calling for very nasty weather but you know the weather people always exaggerate. Leaving a vote. Peace & love. Have a purrfect day. Kitty Kisses. Dean
