Pet motto: AT RAINBOW BRIDGE
There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush green grass.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm Spring weather.
Those old and frail animals are young again.
Those who have been maimed are made whole again.
They play all day with each other.
Some of them here by the Bridge are different.
These pets were beaten, starved, tortured, and unloved.
They watch wistfully as their friends leave one by one,
to cross the bridge with their special person.
For them there is no one, no special one.
Their time on earth did not give them one.
But one day, as they run and play,
they notice someone standing by the road to the bridge.
This person wistfully watches the reunions of friends,
for during life, this person had no pet.
This person was beaten, starved, tortured, and unloved.
Standing there alone, one of the unloved pets approaches,
curious as to why this one is alone.
And as the unloved pet and the unloved person get nearer to each other,
a miracle occurs, for these are the ones who were meant to be together,
the special person and the beloved pet who never had the chance to meet while on Earth.
Finally, now, at the edge of the Rainbow Bridge, their souls meet,
the pain and the sorrow disappears, and two friends are together.
They cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

How We Met
I was asked to foster a young kitty who got pregnant on her first heat. She had been a stray and was grossly malnourished. At 5 pounds, she gave bith to 5 babies: a yellow male, 2 brown tiger and whites, a longhaired tortie, and a longhaired black kitty. My son named her PeekaBoo. The yellow male died at 2 days old. In a few days, the whole litter was sick. At 2 weeks, one of the tigers died, and the tortie was breathing agonally. I rushed them all to the shelter, and they diagnosed the remaining long-haired tiger and PeekaBoo with URI and severe eye infections. They both had corneal ulcers that were caused by the herpes virus and were difficult to treat. The tortie was in respiratory distress and they had me take her to a local vet. He said that he felt PeekaBoo and Gretchen would be ok - although PeekaBoo may be blind in one eye. Tinkerbelle, he said, would not survive the day, and because she was laboring so to breathe, and so he euthanized her while I held her and loved her and did reiki on her. When Gretchen and PeekaBoo were big enough for their big girl surgeries, I was torn about sending them back for adoption. I finally decided I couldn't part with PeekaBoo. She was blind in one eye, had Chronic URI and asthma, and she was black. I figured once she was no longer a kitten, she'd be let go by whoever took her, and I couldn't let that happen, so I adopted her. Her sister was adopted by a very nice young couple who still comes into the shelter and shows me pictures. They said you'd never know she'd had an eye infection unless you take a flash picture - then her eye looks "funny". PeekaBoo has nothing but gray scar tissue covering her eye. She was seen by a veterniary opthamologist who said the pathways for sight were set at the time she developed the infection, so even if they removed the scar tissue and it didn't grow back, she still would probably have no sight in that eye. They recommended leaving it alone which is what I did. She's cute to me, blind eye and all.

We angel kitties have come by to purr on the breezes to your mom. Our mom understands only too well your Mom's grief and hurt at beautiful Nala's passing. But she is here with us...and she is BEAUTIFUL...such incredible sleek fur she has! And her wings have a beautiful iridescence that we have never seen on any other angel kitty before. On Friday July 6th, at 7:30 pm EST (4:30 pm PST) we will hold our annual MHL Hockey Awards Ceremony! We will be enjoying an excellent catered meal in the newly completed Catvention Center at the White Squirrel Campground, page #189629. The menu for the evening will be posted on that page before the event. Following the dinner, the Awards Ceremony will commence at about 8 pm EST (5 pm PST) hosted by our very own Commish, Casey! Don't worry if you can't make it early for the meal, food will be served whenever you arrive. We will have live blogging that night for as long as you want or are able to stay.
On Saturday and Sunday we will have a large number of events and activities available for your enjoyment! Take part in our golf an fishing tourneys, water and small sports, individual games, etc. See the Park page for a list of things you can get involved in! If you wish you can blog with your friends at a time you arrange, or just log in to let us know you are there and participate silently. The Squirrel Box Resturant is open 24/7 for any time you are hungry. The menu is posted on the right side of the page.
Lodging is available for your use if you want to spend the whole weekend. Check the page for details. Anything you need is available at the campground! Just check with the staff in the Country Store.
This weekend event is for all MHL players, their families, friends, and pawrents! Bring everyone and have the best time you can have in the great outdoors! We will have special things to do and chaperones and sitters for the little ones, so bring your babies!
If you want, we can live blog again here on Sunday night, the 8th, and take a short break from hockey to just enjoy each other and get caught up on all the mews we have to share.

The Squirrel Box Resturant is open 24/7 for any time you are hungry. The menu is posted on the right side of the page.
Lodging is available for your use if you want to spend the whole weekend. Check the page for details. Anything you need is available at the campground! Just check with the staff in the Country Store.
This weekend event is for all MHL players, their families, friends, and pawrents! Bring everyone and have the best time you can have in the great outdoors! We will have special things to do and chaperones and sitters for the little ones, so bring your babies!
If you want, we can live blog again here on Sunday night, the 8th, and take a short break from hockey to just enjoy each other and get caught up on all the mews we have to share.
One final thing: PLEASE DO NOT VOTE FOR THIS PAGE when you are here. We don't want to interfere with any catpaign or special day that is on the calender!

Seems there are many things goin on here on CC that we have no clue about. We've been gone so much, we don't know much of anything any more. We sure didn't do good, but last year it was Chubbie Cubbies. We have to take the good seasons with the bad. I get three newsletters about the Canadiens and it looks like they are doing some serious organizing. We don't have to worry about that yet though. Hello Peekaboo
How was your weekend? We had fun celebrating Mother’s Day. We gave Mommy a tshirt that says “My Cat thinks I’m the Best Mom in the whole entire World!” and a plaque that says “Accept your Irrelevance”. You can see pics on the bottom of my page. We gave Nana a gift card to Lowe’s so she can pick out more flowers for her flower beds. Plus, I gave Mommy a “purrrsonal” homemade gift of a hairball at 3:50 a.m. yesterday. I do believe that was her favorite gift!!!

I sure do undestand that your mom is busy. She does very important things and a lot of them. Don't worry about the games. We go, we play but it isn't Thunderclan. We just took over DesPURRados because Buddy can't be there. If Thunderado wins the cup, it isn't really us. I've been keeping an eye on what the Canadiens are doing to improve the team and they seem to be doing a lot. I think we should stay with them next season. It's early yet. I hope you are all well and happy. You are all in our Prayers with some extra ones for little Jade. "Mikey's Meow-velous Mothers" - May 3
Today we go WAY back in time to find our special fur mom! Let me introduce FAITH, a stray cat who found her way to St. Augustine’s Church on Watling Street in London, England during World War II. She was not welcomed immediately, but this kitty persevered in sneaking into the building to find shelter. Eventually the pastor, Father Ross, gave her the name of Faith and she was accepted as the official “church cat”.
In 1940, Faith gave birth to a lone kitten, who the congregation named “Panda”. The new Mom and her kitten were doted on and well cared for by all and provided with a warm comfy bed on an upper floor.
One day Faith decided to move Panda down into the cold basement, and was brought back upstairs by her concerned humans. She responded by immediately moving Panda back down to the basement! After a few repeats of this process, Father Ross decided to let Faith stay where she so obviously preferred to be.
That night, there was an air raid. For the next few days, London was besieged and St. Augustine’s Church and the surrounding homes were severely damaged. When the worst was over and Father Ross surveyed the damage, he was amazed to see a very dusty Faith work her way up through the rubble. Thanks to her determination to seek shelter in the basement, her kitten Panda had survived as well!
This story became well known throughout London, touching many hearts and inspiring hope through the darkest days of the war. A plaque commemorating Faith still adorns the reconstructed St. Augustine’s, and in 1945 she was presented with a special silver medal by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a special “Blessing of the Pets” ceremony which is observed yearly to this day!
