About Me

Active within 1124 Days

Hi! My name is Beni-Wan Cat-Obi

I am a Bengal from Henderson, NV

Nicknames: Benny

Age: 6 years old

Gender: M

Coat: short haired

Education: We've only had him for a few months, and already he comes when he's called, jumps up on my lap on command, walks on a leash, and my mom has even taught him to speak on command. Yes, he's a cat! Also, he has access to a safe fenced backyard enclosure, and after the first time we let him out into it, there are no mice out there anymore.

My favorite tricks and treats are: Catnip! He will meow at the front door to be taken out for a walk on his leash and escorted to the catnip patch in the front yard.

Where I hang out: Wherever I am! If he's not on my lap, he's on the hassock in my "office" room if I'm in there, in the windowsill of the living room if I'm in there, out in the enclosure with me if I'm out there, and so on.

My favorite grubs:

My pet peeves:

What I love about my owners: Benny says: I am the great Benny, lord of the world. This is my trained human, Erin. Humans are kind of dense, but she's learning to understand the difference between "meow I want food", "meow I want to be petted", "meow where are you?', "meow I want you to clean my face", "meow I want to play", and "meow I want to go outside and munch on catnip." If only I could get her to stop looking at that screen thing that seems to fascinate all humans. And oh yeah, lucky? Shelter? Lucky? Hey, that shelter took something very important from me back there. Two very important little somethings. I'm a big alpha male street fighting cat. See these scars on my ears? You ought to see the other cat. The human is always going on about how lucky I am to have been picked up by the no-kill shelter 9th Life Hawaii and sent to Nevada, where people are free to have any breed of cat or dog they want. Well, it was stupid humans who decided to ethnic-cleanse my breed out of existence in the first place, so how lucky is that? Anyway, this human is nice. She makes a good cat bed. I head-butted her right away and marked her as mine, so all you other cats keep off. My human! Get your own!

My cat hobbies: Sleep on my lap, or sleep on my arm or chest when I'm asleep at night.

Pet motto: Freedom brings you happiness. Happiness in the form of a cat! Breed bans are immoral. Sweet, mellow kitties like Benny should never been destroyed just for being the wrong breed in the wrong State!

How We Met

My sweet kitty was a street cat in Maui. He was lucky to be picked up by 9th Life Hawaii. If he had been picked up by another shelter he would have been destroyed as unadoptable because of the breed ban. 9th Life Hawaii rehomes Bengals to the mainland. Benny arrived in the Las Vegas airport near midnight in October 2009. He is my dream cat. The shelter could only guess his age, of course, but if they're right that he's about 3 years old, then I've been dreaming of my golden glittercat since he was born.

1572: Tycho's supernova, explosion of a white dwarf star, is observed in the Milky Way constellation known as Cassiopeia

Jupiter rules the night in November 2011 as it shines and beams, like a lighthouse, in the east moving westward and upward from evening dusk until morning dawn.
Meteors in annual showers originate as grains of dust or ice in space, left behind by comets. After midnight, the part of Earth you’re standing on has turned so that you face head on into the incoming stream of space debris. So you typically see more meteors after midnight – unless the moon happens to rise in the middle of the night. Although the moon may wash out some Leonid meteors, it acts as your guide to the meteor shower radiant and the red planet Mars.
The annual Leonid meteor shower ramps up a few additional streaks of light and gets underway in November 6. With the Moon currently waxing toward Full, the best views will come before dawn tomorrow and Tuesday in the hour or two after the Moon sets. Astronomers expect the shower to peak the night of November 17/18.

Hi Beni-Wan,
Glad to be the first; but I won't be the last. I don't mind the rain,I don't care for the sun.
I am sharing some of my adventures when we were living in the motor home. Here is the last one.
My story today is Bobcats!
One of the RV parks my pawrents like is called San Benito Thousand Trails. It is located near the coast of Central California. It was a ranch in the middle of San Benito County. There are many kinds of birds two only found in the general area. Deer are often seen and native plants are plentiful. The area is overrun with ground squirrels and other rodents. The rodents do a lot of damage to RV hook-ups. When the bob cats moved into the area, the park management welcomes them. Many people came to the RV Park to get pictures of the bob cats. When we arrive my Dad asked where we could see the bob cats. He park in the general area he was told. The next morning I didn’t want to go out on my leash and my Mom said leave him alone. Shortly 2 adult bob cats pass by the rig. My Dad decided I need to go out on my leash. I was still telling him no. He didn’t pay attention to me. I found myself out on the leash. I wasn’t going to stay there. I got out of my harness and head away from the motor home. My pawrents came out to catch. I let my Mom catch and we started back the rig. As we got in front of it, I smelled those bob cats real close and I decided my best course was to fight. I jumped out of my Mom’s arms and headed for them. My Dad caught me and we all went inside. Mom was cleaning up all the wounds and scratches on her arms. When we all saw 2 young bob cats pass by, the rest of the family. Pictures of the bobcat, yellow-billed magpies and acorn woodpeckers will be on Facebook .

HI Beni-wan,
Welcome to Cat channel from another Bengal. I was lucky in getting my pawrents the first time. We travel in a motor home for the first 6 years of my life. Now we live on the 3rd of of a Senior apartment complex. I can fight very well. I know that look as I have it at times. I enjoy being on CC now for over a year. My coat has the glitter. BTW, I left a vote for you.
Bengals rule!
