Our Special Recognition cats today are Serj & Leah #196985 who were both adopted from Lolly Pop
Farm Animal Shelter at the tender age of eight weeks old. Both quickly acclimated to their new
forever home by making fast friends with their new furry siblings with Serj #196985 getting close to
his sister Katie, who sadly is now an angel, and Leah being wherever her brother Gir is. Like all of us
cats, both of these fine felines have their own personalities and likes & dislikes. Serj is pretty
outspoken but Leah #196985 is shy. Serj's morning routine is waiting for his mom every morning in
the bathroom and after her shower, insists on head scratches and kisses and lovey dovey time. Leah
#196985 is a bit feral but she has relaxed enough that she will allow her mom to pet her on occasion
without running away. Leah lets her mom know when their food bowls are empty by standing on the
counter and meowing an alert to have the bowls filled. Leah only likes dry food and especially likes it
when it is poured fresh into her bowl. Serj #196985 will jump over the dog gate to get inside his
mom's bedroom so he can cuddle with her even when he whacks at the ferrets during the night. Leah
prefers the company of Gir and hides very well when she knows it is time for a vet visit. Please

Handsome Jake and his fursister Katie were found outside a local Pet Smart by his future mom. One look into his eyes, and she knew the only thing she could do was bring them both home. Now, Jake is her personal protecter making sure to thoroughly check out anyone who comes into his home before he lets them near her. He also loves hanging out in the window and chatting with the birds as well as wrestling with his daddy. What he does not like is having his sleep interrupted and his nails trimmed. Please Vote Puzzle #256239 COTD on Monday June 3rd
Puzzle’s Mom went to County Services to meet this handsome boy. She sat in the kitty room for a very long time hoping to make a special connection with a kitty but sadly she didn't find what she was looking for, as she was about to leave they wheeled in a cart of kittens and there in the middle of them was Puzzle. He didn't take his eyes off of her so she plucked him out and he instantly gave her Nose kisses and of course she decided he would go home with her that day. He still blesses her with this loving gesture every day. Puzzle #256239 is very athletic and likes to jump long distances, although he is not always successful, Mom hears an occasional thud but he shakes it off and tries again!! He loves to hunt the birds, bugs & lizards outside the sliding glass door, occasionally one slips in and mom ruins his game by pitching the offender back out. He also has a stuffed buddy that he carries around with him, chattering away to it the whole time. He loves to play with his favorite toys Kickaroos, Cat Dancers & Charmers. He is very laid back and loves his fursibs ButtonBlue, Add-A-Line, Blondie & his best playing buddy Lolapalooza Lili, although he does get disgusted with her dunking all of his toys in the water fountain. This sweet kitty joined the angels in February 2013 after losing his battle with complications that developed after being hit by a car the month before. He’d survived having both legs broken & surgery, but was unable to walk & had to drag himself to the litterbox. He was very brave & stayed a very sweet boy during all of the pain, infections, examinations & becoming a foster; but the angels knew that his life would not be a full one with his disabilities & thus called him home. Supplies:
4 White Carnations
2 Plastic Black Shank Buttons - if you can find an oval shape even better
1 Plastic Yellow Shank Button
1 Sheet of White Craft Foam
Black Card Stock
Fabric Glue
Straight Pins
Tape
Green Floral Tape
Floral Wire
Red Ribbon

Place button wires into the flowers to create the face (make sure they're secure). You might need to trim the wire a little so your buttons sit flat on top of the flowers. I also recommend looking at a Hello Kitty image to get the nose and eye spacing correct.

Tie a traditional red bow and trim off tales. Attach a floral wire to bow. Cut two rounded triangles from the white foam for ears. You'll want the ears to be slightly bigger opposed to proportionate. Glue one of the ears on the back of the bow. Tape the other ear to the floral wire. The wire should be 6" in length.

Situate ears at the top of the bouquet. You will need to bend the ears back about 90 degrees. The flowers should cover part of the foam ears (this is why we made them larger). With floral tape, wrap wire and stems to secure in place.

Last are the whiskers. Cut 6 thin strips of black card stock measuring 2" in length. Pin three strips to each side of the face inside the flowers using straight pins. You now have a Hello Kitty Bouquet. For more color surround it with other flowers or wrap it in cellophane and tissue paper.

It's a wonderful life
Philip Van Doren Stern (1900-1984) began a short story, The Greatest Gift", in 1939. He was inspired by a dream, and reminiscent of the 1843 Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol. Stern shared 200 printed copies in 1943 with friends as a year-end cards after numerous publisher rejections.
Luckily, the pamphlet came to the attention of a RKO movie producer who purchased the rights. Frank Capra's production company saw the movie potential. He paid $10,000 for the rights in 1945. Stern's story was adapted into the most loved and memorable American family film, "It's a Wonderful Life" in 1946. Director Capra's inventiveness, humor and affection for human beings keep it glowing with life and excitement.
On Xmas eve, George Bailey's guardian angel shows him all the lives he touched and how different life in his community would be had he never been born. Although George repeatedly sacrifices his dream to travel the world, he realizes "No man is a failure who has friends."

An hour and 25 minutes of funny, cute and interesting short feline videos consisting of four categories:
1. CATness: the essence of cat behavior, capture a cat (or multiple cats) just being a cat, moments of pure cat wonder, quirkiness, and delight;
2. CATcom: capture a cat (or multiple cats) in a humorous situation;

Mille and Family
Today it has been one month since I left Dad and the family to become an Angel. Grammy is in the kitchen baking. Not a memorial cake, but a cake to celebrate my life, though short, I had the best few months filled with love. Dad wanted to plant a tree in my honor in the yard like he did for Angel Tig, but it's November and the ground is frozen. Spring it will have to be. On this day, I wanted to make sure my Angels wings carried me over so that I may Thank You for being the family's furiend. The love and support that has given them will never be forgotten. May G-d bless you and Keep you as my eternally grateful heart takes me back to be with the Angels.

Hi Millie
I sure hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Dad shared some turkey with us so I know we did. I don't know what's up with my Dad. He sees something needs help and he moves heaven and earth to help. I know I'm lucky though he is that way...'cause if not he never would have found little ol' me. Just a little baby crying for help. I do have to say though, I guess I did teach Robin how to beg pretty good. She has been begging for food ever since she tasted that turkey. We are desperately trying to get a daily routine down, so please bear with us if it's a day or so until we reply. Better happen soon because I think Dad is gonna go crazy if we don't. Whisker Kisses!

Honoring all who served -Vets/active duty military
A Long and Gracious Fall by David Budbill

A long and gracious fall this year.
The leaves are down. Gardens: emptied,
manured, tilled, smooth, and waiting.
Mower and tiller serviced and put away.

Smoker put away, as is the summer table.
Prayer flags, windsocks and their poles: down.
Twenty-foot homemade badminton poles,
peace flag at the top of one, store-bought net—all down and put away for another year.
No more outdoor summer chores.

Fall planting — peonies and tiger lilies — done.
Summer flower stalks removed, beds mulched,
a blanket for the cold. Fall pruning done.

Woodshed roof hammered down and sealed again.
Cellar closed. Drive staked and flagged so the
snowplow knows where to go.

What else is there to do? Finally, for once, we are ready for the snow.
Ready now to come inside. Time now for
words and music, poems and shakuhachi.
Time now to light some incense,
sit and stare at candlelight.

EUGENE, OREGON WEATHER REPORT:
The temperature was high 68 & low was 60 this morning, now it's 63 with humidity 94% & wind is 8 MPH S. Tuesday's suppose to be Showers & High 61.

♥ Mom did her morning chores then she had to leave for her appointment for energy assistance. She does this every year so all she has to pay then is just the water portion of the bill each month.

♥ When mom got back, I meowed to her for some holdings and lovings which she was more than happy to give me!!!! After a bit, I finally laid down on the couch to sleep.

♥ After I was asleep, mom folded clothes and put them away then she brought in the ironing board, iron and spray starch to catch up on her ironing plus she got rid of clothes she's been hanging onto in hopes of wearing again one day. Tehehehe!!!!

♥ WooHoo!!!! Oregon is the only state that has 2 College Football teams to be in the TOP TEN: OREGON DUCKS (3rd) & OREGON STATE BEAVERS (10th)
