Music, dancing, appetizers - parties usher in 2013
The first New Year's celebration dates back to around 2000 BC in Mesopotamia. The Times Square celebration began in 1904, when The New York Times opened its headquarters and hosted a big party, complete with fireworks, on New Year's Eve.
In 1907, the paper's head electrician constructed a giant lighted ball, made of wood and iron, weighed 700 pounds, and was lit by a hundred 25-watt bulbs.
Today, it's made of Waterford crystal, weighs almost six tons, and is lit by more than 32,000 LED lights. The party in Times Square is attended by up to a million people every year.

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but New Year's celebrations can be so delightful! And since you've got a place to go--to see the ball fall--let us go, let's go, here we go!
Other cities have developed other ball-dropping traditions:
Atlanta, Georgia, drops a giant peach.
Eastport, Maine, drops a sardine.
Ocean City, Maryland, drops a beach ball.
Mobile, Alabama, drops a 600-pound electric Moon Pie. Tempe, Arizona has a giant tortilla chip which descends into a massive bowl of salsa.
Brasstown, North Carolina drops a Plexiglas pyramid containing a live possum.
Key West, Florida, drops an enormous ruby slipper with a drag queen inside it.

Quote from the movie New Yr's Eve: "And as you all can see, the ball has stopped half way to its perch. it's suspended there to remind us before we pop the champagne and celebrate the new year, to stop, and reflect on the year that has gone by, to remember both our triumphs and our missteps, our promises made and broken, the times we opened ourselves up to great adventures... or closed ourselves down for fear of getting hurt, because that's what new year's all about, getting another chance, a chance to forgive. to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more, and to stop worrying about what if... and start embracing what will be. so when that ball drops at midnight, and it will drop, let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other, and not just tonight but all year long." Oprah chimes in, "Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right."

While brave, enthusiastic merrymakers, revelers and tourists from across the globe flood Times Square to withstand the fierce winds and bone-chilling weather, mom will watch the festivities from the comfort of her cozy home. Fond memories, friendly smiles and warm hearts keep us bubbly and sparkling. We heartily toast the countdown to 12a.m. with friends and loved ones.

Captivating natural charms of New Mexico
Georgia O'Keefe (Nov 15, 1887-1986) innovative painter, known for her paintings of flowers was inspired by NM.

AUTUMN AT TAOS by D.H. Lawrence (1885-1930)

Over the rounded sides of the Rockies, the aspens of autumn,
The aspens of autumn,
Like yellow hair of a tigress brindled with pines.

Down on my hearth-rug of desert, sage of the mesa,
An ash-grey pelt
Of wolf all hairy and level, a wolf's wild pelt.
Trot-trot to the mottled foot-hills, cedar-mottled and pinion;
Did you ever see an otter?
Silvery-sided, fish-fanged, fierce-faced, whiskered, mottled.

When I trot my little pony through the aspen-trees of the canyon,
Behold me trotting at ease betwixt the slopes of the golden
Great and glistening-feathered legs of the hawk of Horus;
The golden hawk of Horus
Astride above me.

But under the pines
I go slowly
As under the hairy belly of a great black bear.

Glad to emerge and look back
On the yellow, pointed aspen-trees laid one on another like feathers,
Feather over feather on the breast of the great and golden
Hawk as I say of Horus.

Pleased to be out in the sage and the pine fish-dotted foothills,
Past the otter's whiskers,
On to the fur of the wolf-pelt that strews the plain.

And then to look back to the rounded sides of the squatting Rockies.
Tigress brindled with aspen,
Jaguar-splashed, puma-yellow, leopard-livid slopes of America.

Make big eyes, little pony,
At all these skins of wild beasts;
They won't hurt you.

Fangs and claws and talons and beaks and hawk-eyes
Are nerveless just now.
So be easy.

This is day 9 of my campaign ...
We’re scaling down the size of our birds for today … some of them were pretty big and scary. This lovely is familiar to many. Today’s featured animal is the

Hyancinth Macaw
Anodorhynchus hyacinthinus

Macaws are beautiful, brilliantly colored members of the parrot family.

Many macaws have vibrant plumage. The coloring is suited to life in Central and South American rain forests, with their green canopies and colorful fruits and flowers. The birds boast large, powerful beaks that easily crack nuts and seeds, while their dry, scaly tongues have a bone inside them that makes them an effective tool for tapping into fruits.

Macaws also have gripping toes that they use to latch onto branches and to grab, hold, and examine items. The birds sport graceful tails that are typically very long.

Macaws are intelligent, social birds that often gather in flocks of 10 to 30 individuals. Their loud calls, squawks, and screams echo through the forest canopy. Macaws vocalize to communicate within the flock, mark territory, and identify one another. Some species can even mimic human speech.

Flocks sleep in the trees at night, and in the morning they may fly long distances to feed on fruit, nuts, insects, and snails. Some species also eat damp soil, which may help to neutralize chemicals in their fruity diet and ease their stomachs.

Macaws typically mate for life. They not only breed with, but also share food with their mates and enjoy mutual grooming. In breeding season, mothers incubate eggs while fathers hunt and bring food back to the nest.

There are 17 species of macaws, and several are endangered. These playful birds are popular pets, and many are illegally trapped for that trade. The rain forest homes of many species are also disappearing at an alarming rate.

Hyacinth, red-fronted, and blue-throated macaws are seriously endangered.

A picture of this animal is posted at the bottom of my page. Each campaign photo will remain on my page for at least three days.

And on the 7th day ...
Thus far we have studies creatures with their feet on the ground … today’s animal hunts from the sky. Please meet the …

Bald Eagle

The bald eagle, with its snowy-feathered (not bald) head and white tail, is the proud national bird symbol of the United States—yet the bird was nearly wiped out there. For many decades, bald eagles were hunted for sport and for the "protection" of fishing grounds. Pesticides like DDT also wreaked havoc on eagles and other birds. These chemicals collect in fish, which make up most of the eagle's diet. They weaken the bird's eggshells and severely limited their ability to reproduce. Since DDT use was heavily restricted in 1972, eagle numbers have rebounded significantly and have been aided by reintroduction programs. The result is a wildlife success story—the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has upgraded the birds from endangered to threatened.
Though their numbers have grown in much of their range, bald eagles remain most abundant in Alaska and Canada. These powerful birds of prey use their talons to fish, but they get many of their meals by scavenging carrion or stealing the kills of other animals. (Such thievery famously prompted Ben Franklin to argue against the bird's nomination as the United State's national symbol.) They live near water and favor coasts and lakes where fish are plentiful, though they will also snare and eat small mammals.
Bald eagles are believed to mate for life. A pair constructs an enormous stick nest—one of the bird-world's biggest—high above the ground and tends to a pair of eggs each year. Immature eagles are dark, and until they are about five years old, they lack the distinctive white markings that make their parents so easy to identify. Young eagles roam great distances. Florida birds have been spotted in Michigan, and California eagles have traveled all the way to Alaska.

A picture of this animal is at the bottom of my page.

Still on the campaign trail ... Day 6 ...
Yesterday’s featured big cat, the Snow Leopard, proved quite popular and was well-received. Today we learn about yet another favorite “big kitty” …

The cheetah is the world's fastest land mammal. With acceleration that would leave most automobiles in the dust, a cheetah can go from 0 to 60 miles (96 kilometers) an hour in only three seconds. These big cats are quite nimble at high speed and can make quick and sudden turns in pursuit of prey.

Before unleashing their speed, cheetahs use exceptionally keen eyesight to scan their grassland environment for signs of prey—especially antelope and hares. This big cat is a daylight hunter that benefits from stealthy movement and a distinctive spotted coat that allows it to blend easily into high, dry grasses.

When the moment is right a cheetah will sprint after its quarry and attempt to knock it down. Such chases cost the hunter a tremendous amount of energy and are usually over in less than a minute. If successful, the cheetah will often drag its kill to a shady hiding place to protect it from opportunistic animals that sometimes steal a kill before the cheetah can eat. Cheetahs need only drink once every three to four days.

Female cheetahs typically have a litter of three cubs and live with them for one and a half to two years. Young cubs spend their first year learning from their mother and practicing hunting techniques with playful games. Male cheetahs live alone or in small groups, often with their littermates.

Most wild cheetahs are found in eastern and southwestern Africa. Perhaps only 7,000 to 10,000 of these big cats remain, and those are under pressure as the wide-open grasslands they favor are disappearing at the hands of human settlers.

The cheetah has been tamed for hunting for almost 5000 years.

A picture of this animal is posted at the bottom of my page. Each campaign photo will remain on my page for at least three days. If you somehow did not receive a report on one of these lovely creatures, you can find them on the CMR page #46883. You may need to search back a bit, but … happy hunting. =^..^=

Campaign day 5 ...
Snow Leopard

These rare, beautiful gray leopards live in the mountains of Central Asia. They are insulated by thick hair, and their wide, fur-covered feet act as natural snowshoes. Snow leopards have powerful legs and are tremendous leapers, able to jump as far as 50 feet (15 meters). They use their long tails for balance and as blankets to cover sensitive body parts against the severe mountain chill.

Snow leopards prey upon the blue sheep (bharal) of Tibet and the Himalaya, as well as the mountain ibex found over most of the rest of their range. Though these powerful predators can kill animals three times their weight, they also eat smaller fare, such as marmots, hares, and game birds.

One Indian snow leopard, protected and observed in a national park, is reported to have consumed five blue sheep, nine Tibetan woolly hares, twenty-five marmots, five domestic goats, one domestic sheep, and fifteen birds in a single year.

As these numbers indicate, snow leopards sometimes have a taste for domestic animals, which has led to killings of the big cats by herders.

These endangered cats appear to be in dramatic decline because of such killings, and due to poaching driven by illegal trades in pelts and in body parts used for traditional Chinese medicine. Vanishing habitat and the decline of the cats' large mammal prey are also contributing factors.

A photo of this animal is at the bottom of my page. Take a look.

Campaign day 4 ...
I've had a number of requests for this big cat. Enjoy.

Jaguars are the largest of South America's big cats. They once roamed from the southern tip of that continent north to the region surrounding the U.S.-Mexico border. Today significant numbers of jaguars are found only in remote regions of South and Central America—particularly in the Amazon basin.

These beautiful and powerful beasts were prominent in ancient Native American cultures. In some traditions the Jaguar God of the Night was the formidable lord of the underworld. The name jaguar is derived from the Native American word yaguar, which means "he who kills with one leap."

Unlike many other cats, jaguars do not avoid water; in fact, they are quite good swimmers. Rivers provide prey in the form of fish, turtles, or caimans—small, alligatorlike animals. Jaguars also eat larger animals such as deer, peccaries, capybaras, and tapirs. They sometimes climb trees to prepare an ambush, killing their prey with one powerful bite.

Most jaguars are tan or orange with distinctive black spots, dubbed "rosettes" because they are shaped like roses. Some jaguars are so dark they appear to be spotless, though their markings can be seen on closer inspection.

Jaguars live alone and define territories of many square miles by marking with their waste or clawing trees.

Females have litters of one to four cubs, which are blind and helpless at birth. The mother stays with them and defends them fiercely from any animal that may approach—even their own father. Young jaguars learn to hunt by living with their mothers for two years or more.

Jaguars are still hunted for their attractive fur. Ranchers also kill them because the cats sometimes prey upon their livestock.

Day 3 of my campaign ...
Today you can see two pictures of yours truly “flying” down the stairs … yes, that blur is me. Why do I do that, you ask. Well … think about it … they call that a “flight of stairs”. Duh.

And now …

Leopards are graceful and powerful big cats closely related to lions, tigers, and jaguars. They live in sub-Saharan Africa, northeast Africa, Central Asia, India, and China. However, many of their populations are endangered, especially outside of Africa.

The leopard is so strong and comfortable in trees that it often hauls its kills into the branches. By dragging the bodies of large animals aloft it hopes to keep them safe from scavengers such as hyenas. Leopards can also hunt from trees, where their spotted coats allow them to blend with the leaves until they spring with a deadly pounce. These nocturnal predators also stalk antelope, deer, and pigs by stealthy movements in the tall grass. When human settlements are present, leopards often attack dogs and, occasionally, people.

Leopards are strong swimmers and very much at home in the water, where they sometimes eat fish or crabs.

Female leopards can give birth at any time of the year. They usually have two grayish cubs with barely visible spots. The mother hides her cubs and moves them from one safe location to the next until they are old enough to begin playing and learning to hunt. Cubs live with their mothers for about two years—otherwise, leopards are solitary animals.

Most leopards are light colored with distinctive dark spots that are called rosettes, because they resemble the shape of a rose. Black leopards, which appear to be almost solid in color because their spots are hard to distinguish, are commonly called black panthers.

Pictures of these animals are posted at the bottom of my page. Each campaign photo will remain on my page for at least three days.

My campaign continues ...
Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his lair to "see" his shadow on Thursday, in the process predicting six more weeks of winter. It’s sunny here in Vista, CA, also, but I never saw the groundhog. However, I did see the:

The largest of all the cats, a shy, unsociable animal that remains deeply hidden in dense brush during the day, is also the most difficult to spot in it's natural habitat.

It has a massive, muscular body and powerful limbs. Its coat differs with its geographical habitat; the Bengal tiger is relatively short-haired and has strongly-marked stripes; the Siberian tiger has longer hair and fewer, paler stripes. In the shadows of a forest, its stripes help a tiger to disappear from view. Tigers are the only felid species with stripes – other big cats have spots, rosettes, or solid coats. All six living tiger subspecies are endangered due to habitat loss and relentless hunting for their body parts; three other subspecies are already extinct.

Tiger bones and other organs are used in folk medicine, despite international outcry and the lack of scientific endorsement. While human populations have increased; tigers have lost 93 percent of their historic range.

As opportunistic hunters of wild pigs and deer of various types, these solitary cats each require a significant home range to ensure they meet an estimated kill of 50 large prey animals per year. They can take smaller prey animals in a pinch, like primates and porcupines, and rise to the occasion of taking prey larger than themselves, like water buffalo, banteng, elephants, and rhinos.

Remaining hidden during the day, it stalks its prey only after dark. In hunting, it often lies in ambush, then gallops in pursuit of whatever is available, mainly medium to large mammals such as cattle, wild boar, deer, buffalo and, as well, man, being one of the few animals that regularly preys on humans. Prey that is too large to be eaten at a single feeding is dragged away and hidden in a thicket to which the tiger will return on the following days.

The tiger maintains a clearly stake-out territory which it patrols at regular intervals. It climbs well, swims, well, moves gracefully on land, and can attain great speed over short distances when chasing prey.
The tiger is one of nature’s most feared predators.

A picture of this animal is posted at the bottom of my page. Each campaign photo will remain on my page for at least three days. Watch tomorrow … there will be several pictures … two of them are of me “flying” down the stairs.

My campaign begins ...
African Lions

Lions are the only cats that live in groups, which are called prides. Prides are family units that may include up to three males, a dozen or so females, and their young. All of a pride's lionesses are related, and female cubs typically stay with the group as they age. Young males eventually leave and establish their own prides by taking over a group headed by another male.

Only male lions boast manes, the impressive fringe of long hair that encircles their heads. Males defend the pride's territory, which may include some 100 square miles (259 square kilometers) of grasslands, scrub, or open woodlands. These intimidating animals mark the area with urine, roar menacingly to warn intruders, and chase off animals that encroach on their turf.

Female lions are the pride's primary hunters. They often work together to prey upon antelopes, zebras, wildebeest, and other large animals of the open grasslands. Many of these animals are faster than lions, so teamwork pays off.

After the hunt, the group effort often degenerates to squabbling over the sharing of the kill, with cubs at the bottom of the pecking order. Young lions do not help to hunt until they are about a year old. Lions will hunt alone if the opportunity presents itself, and they also steal kills from hyenas or wild dogs.

Lions have been celebrated throughout history for their courage and strength. They once roamed most of Africa and parts of Asia and Europe. Today they are found only in parts of sub-Saharan Africa, except for one very small population of Asian lions that survives in India's Gir Forest.

A picture of this animal is posted at the bottom of my page. Each campaign photo will remain on my page for at least three days.

I look forward to spending a LOT of time with you as I campaign. My chosen theme will be The Creatures With Which We Share Planet Earth. Each day of the campaign I will introduce you to one of the amazing animals in our world, and will post (with CC’s cooperation, of course) a picture of that animal at the bottom of my page. Those pictures will remain in place for at least three days, so those of you who are busy and unable to stop by each day will be able to take a look at them.

I WILL reign from the Castle, with activities there and in the San Diego region. There is much to do and see in the area. Also, we will take trips together to see and learn about the amazing places in the Western States of our great nation. Some of those trips will be overnights, and we will use buses, autos and, yes, even planes to reach our destinations.

It promises to be a wild, but wonderful ride … so buckle up and let’s get this off the ground.

There will be a committee for clean-up this time ... volunteers? I'm going through my recipes and will be baking most of the remainder of this week. There will also be heavy duty tape to patch the bouncy house. The kittens do have rather sharp claws and I want them to get the best experience they can. If you bring a toy you wish to take home with you, be sure you have some identifying mark on it ... teeth marks will NOT be accepted as proof of ownership. Okay, let's get ready to pawty!

The pawrents head out tomorrow ...
... for a few days in a mountain community an hour from our home. They will take the grandson with them for his birthday gift which will consist of Boll Weevil hamburgers, swimming in one of the pools, soaking in one of the hot tubs, watching movies together, horseback riding through the area, more swimming, the buffet at Barona Casino on the reservation nearby ... there will be crab legs, roast beef and turkey, and many other great foods including ... TA-DA ... the Bananas Foster. Home late on Thursday.

Our neighbor will feed and care for me. I finally let him pet me the other day, so this should go well. Mom will leave one of my bowls with the right amount of my new food in it ... that way he will know just how much I get now.

I plan to take a few naps ... and party down with whoever can get here. If you need me to send the little pink plane, just say so. It will pick you up and take you back home just minutes before the pawrents return. Should work. Just help me clean up before you leave. So far they are totally in the dark about what goes on around here when they take off on me.

See you soon??????

Some could not attend the coronation ...
... and have asked for a rerun of the flyover. Here it is:

Today the sceptor changes hands and all of CC watches the ceremony. As Queen Charlotte takes her throne, the cheering of the crowd is suddenly drowned out by the roar of 30 aircraft engines. Each plane has had its underside painted for this occasion, most of them gold, a few with jewel colors. They slowly pass overhead in the shape of a sceptor, with the jewel colors set where emeralds, rubies, sapphires and diamonds appear on the Queen's sceptor. Each pilot tips his or her hat to King Thomas as he steps aside, and to new Queen Charlotte as she steps forward into CC history. Applause and cheering follow the aircraft as they depart the area.

Extra Extra Sammy Saga Holiday Edition Part2!
Amber was on a harness,so I figured it was safe to investigate, hey she was tethered,MOL. Well, being a friendly fella I went over slowly and ya know what????That mean old Amber bristled up her back and she hissed at me!!!! I don't think that was very nice. Afterall,I was just coming over to introduce myself. Next thing ya know, I'm whisked away into the bedroom and the door is shut!! What nerve, hey this is MY house! Amber calmed down and enjoyed my catnip mouse. She slobbered all over it so I was really hoping Santa Paws would bring a new one. No self respecting kitty could enjoy a catnip mouse after some strange and unfriendly kitty had slobbered all over it. I was a bit upset at the shoddy treatment I received so I decided to amuse myself in the bedroom. I knocked over Mom's clock and hid her TV remote,MOL. It took Mom about an hour to locate it under the bed! Score Sammy! I also burrowed under her covers and left a holiday hairball there for her! Guess I won't be jailed in the bedroom anytime soon,MOL.
FLASH FORWARD: Christmas Day: I thought Mom would never get up. I knew Santa Paws had come and wanted to see what was left for yours truly. Finally,Mom helped me open my gifties, there it was,2 brand new furry catnip mice to fill up,a new fishing pole thingy, and a pack of foam balls. There was also a pouch of my favorite treats,YUM! As I was saying to myself, Santa Paws rocks, Mom brings out a pot of Cat grass! WooHoo, I was all over it! Time to landscape! I also got a brand new water fountain! It's even bigger then the old one, hehehe, purrfect to play in!
Well, there you have it, the holiday edition of my Sammy Saga! Now what have we learned: 1.) Santa Paws reads our letters,2.) pawrents never like us redecorating,3.)beware of strange ktties coming into your homes,4.) if you get jailed in a room,be creative and leave your pawrents a gift,MOL,5.)and this is important: it's pays to be a good kitty,Santa Paws is always watching! I hope all of you had the bestest holidays and I wish you the happiest and healthiest New Year ever! Happy Holiday purrs for now...Sammy

Extra Extra Sammy Saga Holiday Edition Part1!
FLASH BACK: Beginning of December, I wrote my letter to Santa,"Dear Santa Paws, it's me, Sammy here, just thought I'd drop you a line incase you're wondering what might be some cool gifties for yours truly. 1.) new catnip mouse,2.) cat grass,3.) treats,yum!,4.)milk bottle rings(they're great for hockey practice),5.)fishing pole thingy,6.)foam balls. Of course if you happen to think of anything else a very good kitty like me would want, that would be good too! Now, if you happen to see Mom please let her know that I hate baths, the vet,and strangers in my house. Maybe if she hears it from you, she'll listen. Thanks a bunch,I'll leave ya some of my favorite treats, yum! PS,if you're late getting to my house, the treats maybe gone, hehehe! I know you'll understand. Yours truly, a very good Sammy!"

Filled with the holiday spirit I sent it off to Santa Paws. Mom put up my tree, and immediately I could see where she had made some decorating faux pas.Hehehe,I thought I'd throw some French in so you all can see what a cultured kitty I am! Well, I waited till she went to bed(didn't want to hurt her feelings) and began redecorating. I put a really cool wreath ornament in her bed. I also wanted to see if Santa can swim. I careful manuvered the ornament from the tree and took it to my fountain. Now here's something I don't think you all may know,Santa can't swim! He just sunk to the bottom of my fountain. I thought he might need to be rescued so I took off the snowman ornament and dropped it in my fountain in an effort to help Santa. Well, the snowman was pretty good at floating, but didn't help Santa. Mom got up found the wreath in her bed, then came out for her morning coffee,surprise!!!Timber...the tree was kind of hanging off the table by the light cord, and snowman and Santa were having a swim, hehehe. Mom didn't like my decorating,I don't think that was very nice. The tree hanging allowed me to easily investigate all the cool ornament thingys. Mom of course fixed the tree, and rescued Santa and the snowman. This went on several times through out the month. Hey if it's MY tree,I should be able to decorate it right?

Mom's friend next door got a kitty just after Thanksgiving. It's an orange girl kitty named Amber. Well, seems they decided to come by and visit Mom and deliver some holiday cookies. Yep, that's right, I said THEY! She came and brought that cat with her.

I'm still enjoying ...
... my Christmas tree. Mom left a boxtop on the floor while she was decorating last week and I have made it my own. My toys have somehow found their way into it ... Mom helped a bit, but I started that one. I curl up in here and watch the tree and the pawrents. Mom said she will put a small towel in the bottom of it so I get a bit more warmth from lying here.

Miss Cherish is definitely gaining a bit of weight on the new food. Her backbone was terribly prominent and now I need to really feel for it. I thank God for His help, as I prayed one night for help in finding the right food ... the next day we found Innova cat food in chicken flavor. Bought the large, dogfood size cans, and she eats one every three days. This is a BIG STEP for us. With her being nearly 16 years old, I worry about losing her prematurely due to an error on my part. She feels better ... I feel better. Sigh.

The only family member to visit the house this year was Mom's grown daughter. She spent two nights and was very surprised to not only see me not running to hide, but she was able to pet me. After 12 years, I've given up on the "ghost kitty" persona and decided to get to know some of my family. They are nice. I like them and they think I'm a pretty girl. Very perceptive of them, right?

Mom is hoping to keep the tree into the new year, having purchased it later this time. Previously, we would have a dry stick by Christmas Day.

When does your family un-decorate? Do you help? Let me know.

Tonight's the night ...
... soon the Royal pilots will head for the North Pole and the beginning of a very, very long trip. Our many and multi-colored lights will virtually light up the night as we accompany a certain reindeer-pulled sleigh on its appointed rounds. Be sure the milk and cookies are waiting by the stockings-hung-with-care, and watch for us in the night sky over your home.

Mom and I have lovingly wrapped a special gift for each of you. It is a big box of "dreams come true" and "if I only had one wish" items. May you enjoy them now and throughout the coming year.

Tis the season for miracles ...
... and Mom thinks we have just had a small one ... I am eating. She found a new catfood for me that I just love, and I am eating about 3 or 4 times as much and Mom hopes this will lead to weight gain. She said I am already a bit heavier to lift, but most of that is food still inside me, I think. I am content, and have been playing with my toys again.

Our tree is beautiful and sometimes I sleep downstairs for part of the night to be near it. My Christmas stocking lies beneath it, but so far it is empty. Hmmmm. Mom says after church on Christmas Eve, I will receive my new gifts. I'm hoping for more furry mice. Those are my favorites. And also fresh catnip in my felt mice. And hugs and love, of course.

I've told Mom and Dad I will be away most of Christmas Night, as I and the rest of the Royal Pilots will be accompanying Santa on his rounds. We will begin our evening's activities with some time before the creche, remembering what Christmas is all about. Then we will take off for the North Pole and our trip with Santa.

I will be dropping off catnip flavored hot chocolate and tuna topped cookies for each of you. Also plenty of furry mice and little balls to bat about.

Remember to listen for the sound of reindeer feet on your roof, and then watch us fly off into the night once more ... each of our 30 planes will be adorned with many, many colored lights.

Mom says thank you ...
… for all the love and concern you’ve shown her while she was ill. She and Dad are busy once again with day-to-day chores, and are getting Christmas tasks finished, as well … gifts are wrapped, the tree has lights and ornaments, and the cards have been addressed and mailed.

Captain Cherish here asking all of you to join me tonight at the airport where we will decorate our craft with multi-colored lights in preparation for accompanying Santa on Christmas Eve. Some of us have already begun wrapping our planes with the lights, and they look amazing. I’ll pick up any who need a ride and take them to the planes and then back home again.
For those of you who are earthbound … our aircraft will be surrounding the sleigh from the time it leaves the North Pole until it has made every stop on the list. Hope you’ve been nice, not naughty, so we will be making a stop at your house, too. We will be dropping off dreidels and gifts for those of you who celebrate a different holiday. Watch the skies for a glow coming from the north; it’s not the Northern Lights.

Come visit me, A.Q. Cherish Luvs P. Thunder forever.
