Hi Whiskers
All are very good tips, MOL! I'm glad she was able to get the medicine on Sugar Bear's nose without much fuss. Now time will tell. I pray it heals quickly. How can any kitty stay mad when food is brought within their presence? ;) I know I tend to forgive quickly when cuddles or food are in the offing.

Hi Whiskers and Family!
I'm so glad that your Mom was able to get at least, one dose of Clavamox down Sugar Bear! Mom always gives a treat or Fancy Feast after meds, cuz she says that way they will associate it with something pleasant instead of something yucky! It doesn't always work, though. Sometimes the kitty in question just takes off and won't even sniff the treat or food. I hope your Mom has good luck with the subsequent doses. We're keeping her in our prayers for success.

Well, we had a pretty nice day today with a low this morning of 68 and a high of 82. We didn't get any rain here, but Mom took a friend to Walmart, which is only 4 miles away and on the way it started to sprinkle. Then the closer they got the harder it came down. Mom's friend has Parkinson's disease and can't walk real good, so Mom let her out in front of the store. Then she went and parked. Thankfully, she thought to bring her umbrella, just in case! She needed it. But this storm wasn't as bad as the one last week where she got soaked even with her umbrella...MOL! So, when they came out the rain had stopped. They were happy.

Frosty and Shorty came by for their meals and Frosty doesn't look like she's getting any fatter. So, Mom is very hopeful that she's not pregnant. Midnight comes by sometimes, usually after the other have been fed and he's just looking for the dry food. Sometimes, he's out on the porch, but when Mom or Dad go out, he runs. But he doesn't run as far as he used to.

Dayzee has been pretty good about coming in the house in the evening. Tonight she wanted to come in, but Felix was staring at her and she wouldn't go past him. So, Mom went out, picked him up and brought him in the house. Then, wouldn't you know it, Shorty came along. So, Dayzee wouldn't come in the yard, even. Shorty stayed a long time. Finally Mom noticed Dayzee was on the porch railing. Mom knew that she wouldn't come in with Shorty still on the porch, so Mom had to go out the back door and lure him around to the back. Then she went into the house and to the front door. Dayzee saw Mom and came inside. Whew! What she has to go through to get that girl inside!

Well, I didn't mean to get so long winded, so I am going to say good night. Here's a furry vote with love, lots of prayers and wishes for a great evening with sweet dreams. Take care and I'll catch ya, later. Love ya!

Hugs and headbonks,
Mischief

♥ It's me here tonight..... SASSEE #10605!

♥ Mom says this is some purr*fect news to tell and I get to tell since it's about me. Mom was sent some information by our dear friend, Simba's #16612 momma Angela, about some possible help for my Degenerative Arthritis Disease. It's called "Compassion Laser Therapy" so mom called Dr. Nancy to check on the price and if she thought it would help me. Dr. Nancy thinks it will and dad's all for the treatments as well! My first treatment starts tomorrow, Wednesday 8/20 at 3:00pm. I will give you updates when I can. Mom is thrilled as she doesn't have to make that terrible decision on me yet! You know what? I'm thrilled, too!

♥ Mom also changed my profile photo to a newer one she took in in May. Thank you all for your prayers!

♥ RESCUE KITTY UPDATE:
Mom got a phone call on Sunday (8/17) letting her know about the kitty mom rescued & Tina had came to get him. This poor kitty had been hit by a car which broke his lower jaw, but then also tested for Feline Leukemia which came back POSITIVE plus his ears were loaded with mites, had not been neutered and several bites from fights. They had to help the kitty with his Forever Sleep. The Veterinarian also thought the kitty to be about 13 years old. Mom is sad for the kitty, but at least he is no longer in pain. Luckily, mom never cleaned the crate yet that she had him in so as now she got it sterilized with strong bleach along with dad's PU bed. Mom for got about the trap til late Sunday night so she fixed up a spray bottle of Clorox then grabbed the trap to spray it down good and poured what was left in the jug over the trap to let set over night then hosed it down the next day.

Hi Whiskers
I had my final vet visit yesterday and all is well. the vet is very happy about my progress and he didn't even charge my mom for an Office call on any visit, just the shot and exam, I also got my final Anti Biotic shot yesterday.

We had a nice day today until about an hour ago, it got dark outside, the sky was black and it was very very windy and it poured rain and thundered, and then it all cleared it and now it is just sprinkling and the wind stopped.

You should have seen Win...he was outside in the yard, and when that wind started up, he was up them stairs like a bullet, mom said she never saw him run so fast.

Mom got us a few new Cosmic catnip toys yesterday...actually one was for Winston as his birthday just passed and 1 was for Sheba so she could have something of her own, but me and Kelsee were playing with them.

Mom loves that question today...she said she spends more on toys then the other stuff. We get a new scratcher every 5 years and a new collar only if ours wears out and we already each have a bed...so TOYS wins paws down!!!

Well, i sure hope you have a pawsome evening.

Hi Orangie, Whiskers and the crew
That's great to hear about Sugar Bear! Hopefully her nose will heal up soon! Do you think those kitties will be friendly enough, like you, to come inside?

Hey, more good news! At lunchtime, the folks caught another kitty, Gimley. He's roughly about 5 mo. old, one of the members of the first litter this year. The folks at the shelter said he was too old to try to socialize, (aww), but he will be neutered, fully vaccinated, de-crittered, and the folks will pick him up late tomorrow afternoon and return him to his clowder.

One more adult, Mama Beaux, and two small kittens to go!

We were wondering how Sugar Bear's
vet visit had gone, Whiskers! The vet isn't really sure what it is, we gather? At least she's taking precautions in case it is an infection. It sounds like Sugar Bear got lucky when she decided to call your yard "home"! And don't think we didn't notice that "still an outside kitty right now". That seems to suggest that she might not always be an outside kitty. However, if Sugar Bear becomes an indoor cat, Ebony will also have to be brought inside. It wouldn't be right to separate them now. I know your Mom has already thought of that. Did she ever get any information on Ebony's chip? Hugs, KC and the Zoo Crew

That is so sweet that Ebony was right there to meet Sugar Bear when she came home. Those two really are good friends and wherever Ebony came from, he should stay with Sugar Bear. And we hope that her nose heals. Would you believe we're still working on getting those kitty zit scabs of mine to clear up? They're looking a lot better, but it seems like there's always one or another of them that comes off too soon. Mojo tries to lick at them sometimes. Hey Whiskers!
Great advice on where best to throw-up, but you did leave out one very important tip: Height! Whenever possible, and time allowing, be sure to attain the highest altitude possible before letting loose with a hurl. Refrigerator tops are very effective, top shelves in closets, desk tops, table tops, anything above floor level. Around here we consider floor-level puking for amateurs, and whenever one of us has to settle for a floor barf, we at LEAST try to aim for the inside of a carelessly discarded shoe! If this is done in the middle of the night into a pair of bedside slippers, and the human inserts their foot before realizing the gift you have deposited, this will compensate for the lack of aerial drop!

Hi K Whiskers
Happy Tuesday sweet kitties & pawsome pawents! Are you sitting down? I hope so because you're going to fall down when I tell you what we were caught doing...MOL! It started out a normal rambunctious day filled with kitten antics, jumping, races & a plant being knocked over. After the kids left for school mom realized the house had been quiet a lot longer than usual so she started calling for us. When none of us appeared the search began. Hmmm...no kitties in the master bedroom, living room, kitchen, family room or laundry room so the only two rooms left were the kids'. Lo & behold she found 5 of us laying on sis' bed & Patches in bro's room. The most amazing part is that we weren't hissing or glaring but were actually curled up within a few inches of each other purring! Amazing isn't it considering our very differing purrsonalities &...uhm...certain kitties' tendencies to whack at each other? MOL!! Of course once she saw us being & looking so sweet she raced to get the camera, but by the time she got back 3 of us (Piglet, Sneakers & Monkey) had already started down the hallway. Too bad about that purrfect photo op mom...MOL!!
Now that she's disturbed our moment of purrfect harmony the kittens are wrestling & running again so I'm feeling that whacking urge creeping toward my paws & Fluffinella is glaring at them. Hmmm...to whack or not to whack...that's the question. Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them?
Oops...sorry but I had a Hamlet moment there...MOL!

It's going to be another hot & humid day around here so mom has already closed the windows & flipped on the A/C's. No rain in the forecast again so mom & dad will need to water the flowers & garden frequently once again. Well I'd better get whacking...err...I mean pouncing for now so mom can get fresh water for the outside kitties & doggie sib Sammie. I'll meow at you again soon.

That is so sweet that Ebony waited for her furiend to come back. Hope she takes the meds like a good girl and she heals quickly. Cat food: The best lure out there! ;)
The hummingbird house would be wonderful, but they call it the "dream house" since it is astronomically outside of what they can afford. It's ok though, Mom has one she really likes that has some neat windows that is more affordable. :)

Thanks for the concatulations! I am having a great time. I'll have two more flying lessons with K. Pete, then I'll have to pass a written and in-flight exam to get my license. Of course we can go flying together! It'll be great fun.

I'm glad to hear that Sugar Bear got treated and given medicine at the vet. And she's gaining weight! It brought tears to my Mama's eyes when she pictured Ebony sitting there, waiting for her furiend. I'm also glad that the vet thinks it's best that Sugar Bear stays with your family. It was wonderful to hear that she and Ebony had a nice dinner together.

After the delicious Breakfast, the kids were
packed off to school with lots of hugs and Talley and Whiskers prepared for a day enjoying their yard & garden. Talley told Whiskers, “I hope your mom can get Sugar bear to take her medicine, maybe Angels Lucy and Sylvie could talk to her and explain a little about being a part of a family. I think that she and Ebony will be a wonderful addition to our family.” Whiskers kissed Talley and said, “That’s a great idea, I think I’ll ask Lucy if maybe they could talk with both Sugar Bear and Ebony.” They began to change into their gardening clothes. Talley reminded Whiskers not to forget Sunscreen and his hat!
The camera equipment that Pete had ordered for the greenhouse had been delivered on Saturday and Raven and Murphy brought it in from the garage where they had stored it. They laid the parts out, and began to assemble the components. There were three cameras; two that would be mounted to view the entire greenhouse, and one that could be positioned close to a plant, to take close-up time-lapse recordings of the plant development. Once the cameras were assembled, Ms. Murphy sat at her laptop and installed the new cameras on their local area network. When they were on line and working, the two sisters took them out to the greenhouse.

Flower had been excited about the growth of their zucchini seeds and had pointed out that the little plants already had true leaves! He had studied plant development on his own and knew that the first leaves to appear were called cotyledons and that when the plant formed another pair of leaves, then the plant began the process of photosynthesis. Pete was impressed. Flower had said, “Uncle Pete the packet said that the Partenon Zucchini has a 75% germination rate, but every seed that we planted has come up!”
Pete was surprised, Flower was right, in field trials, seeds that they had planted had germinated in 75% of the plantings that was very good, but 100% germination rate was virtually unheard of.
Murphy and Raven brought their equipment into the greenhouse and began looking for the best places to mount them. Pete pointed to the central support beam that ran the length of the roof. That might give good coverage if you mount one on either end of the beam. Murphy brought one of the ladders, set it at the end of the beam and climbed up to check the viewing angle. Raven did the same on the other end. The moved around to several locations and determined that the beam provided a good location. They mounted the cameras and then opened their tablets to check the views they called up the “grow cams” as they had named them and the view was good. She passed her tablet around and everyone agreed that the cameras would be fun to watch.
Talley and Whiskers began their day by weeding the outside gardens and picking the tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers that were ripe. Keeping the plants picked assured that they would continue to bear through the end of the summer.
At lunch time they had tuna salad sandwiches and a healthy salad. As they were finishing, Pete’s cell phone chimed and when he answered it was Mitch, asking Pete if he and Whiskers had come to any decision on the community greenhouses. Pete told him that they had several options under consideration and that as soon as the community decided on which design they liked best, it would be ordered and shipped. Mitch said that the community had put the decision in his hands and he would appreciate a little guidance on the features and benefits of the various designs. Pete told Mitch that he and Whiskers would be available any time he wished to meet with them. Mitch said he would come up right after school.

After lunch Talley and Whiskers printed out the brochures that described the various greenhouses. They were larger than the home greenhouse but they wanted to provide growing space to accommodate the entire community.
The kittens came home from school anxious to visit the green house. Talley turned her tablet on and called up the grow cams. She watched as Flower and his sisters examined all of the trays of plants. Daisy carefully measured the heights of the new plants and she made notes on her tablet. The kids were learning to observe and record the plant growth. Whiskers looked over Talley’s shoulder and said, “When the community greenhouses go up, Flower and his sisters will be able to help teach everyone to use them.”
Talley nodded, “They have a thirst for knowledge, and the drive to learn.”
Maggie made a pitcher of Peach tea, and set out some fresh baked cookies. She told Pete, “This is for when Mitch gets here, but don’t spoil your dinner. Whitey and Orangie are making Polish Stuffed Cabbage, with potato rolls and a garden salad. For dessert they’re making Caramel Apple Cake. The stuffed cabbage should be delicious. The stuffing has lots of spices, Beef, rice and tomatoes. The tomato gravy is so good.”
Pete said, “Maggie, You’re making me hungry! I’ll just have some tea. Dinner does sound great, though. Where did they get the Polish recipes?”
Maggie said, “When they were at the farmer’s market last week they met a kitty named Jazz who traded some recipes with them. They gave her the recipe for Bouillabaisse and Peach Cobbler and they got some family polish recipes. She came to live in the shelters last winter when her family had to move. They took her to a friend who said she’d care for Jazz but then she made her live outside and didn’t feed her, so she heard about the shelters and came here.”
Pete shook his head, “Thank the Lord that she found us. This winter I think we should make an effort to let kitties know there is a community for them here.”
Maggie nodded. Chloe told me that Inky and the boys will be going into the village looking for any homeless kitties when it starts getting cold.”

Mitch came in and greeted Maggie with a hug and Pete with a pawshake. Pete called Whiskers and Talley to come join them.
Talley and Whiskers brought the brochures as well as some general information on growing greenhouse crops. Talley presented the first greenhouse, and said this one is aluminum and polycarbonate. It has solar heating with electric assist and it’s 36 feet x 50 feet. It comes with growing shelves.” Talley showed three other units and when she was done Mitch examined the first she had shown, and asked, “How does this one compare in function and cost to these others. Talley said, “This one is the strongest, with the largest production area; automatic sensor based watering, and the most accurate heat regulation. As you might imagine, it’s the most expensive in terms of purchase price.”
Mitch asked, “How much more expensive?
Pete answered, “Before I we get into that, I’d like you to consider the greater production area, the weather resistance and the reduced cost of solar heating versus all electric. If this is the one you like, don’t let the acquisition cost be a factor in your decision. I personally think this is the best looking one too, the design actually matches the look of the new buildings.”
Mitch looked at the figures that Talley had handed him. He said, I think the bank will go along with this. We’ll need two of them but I think it’s a good investment in the community.”
Whiskers said, “Mitch Pete and I and our whole family is providing these greenhouses as a donation to the community. We’d like it to remain an anonymous donation.”
Pete nodded, “If this is the design you want, we’ll call and order them right now. We need to get these installed as soon as possible. The families will need time to determine what they want to grow. The farmers will take some time learning how to grow their crops in them we need them to be operational as soon as possible.”
Mitch said, “I agree. On behalf of the whole community, thank you!”
They all went to Whiskers office and Talley made the call, ordering the greenhouses.
The community would be able to have fresh produce through the whole winter!
When she finished the call Talley said, “They’ll arrive at the airfield on Friday morning.”
The smells from the kitchen were amazing and Mitch was only too happy to help setting the table for dinner. Whiskers tried to get a peek in the oven, but Callie chased him out. Whitey and Orangie want this to be a surprise.
Dinner was a great success and the evening movie was Ice Age Three, which the kids loved.
At bedtime Talley and Whiskers said their prayers and then held one another close. Talley said, I’m looking forward to seeing teach tomorrow!
He kissed her and snuggled “I’m looking forward to teaching our friends too, but I’m a little nervous. Talley kissed him back. “You’ll be fine!

I am thrilled that we can go shopping -- how about this
Saturday or Sunday, (after Church of course)?? Monsoon storms are really raggin' on us over here - I am less than fond off the lightening & thunder they bring in their wake. I saw Caser put up a notice about hockey, and I said I wold play, just don't know with whom yet.

2 new cats?? Oh wow, your mom is an angel - hopefully they will not wander too far afield and you guys will learn to be furriends thru the window/door whatever separates you.

Is Whiskers piloting us up north?? Please give me a head-count so I can have mom pack lunches. Go go, must catch Peaches, pill time.

Hi kitties! Orangie!
Sugar Bear been getting into a scrape or two? Hope she heals up quickly.
Yeah, we've been very fortunate to have the SPCA facilities upgraded, and merged with Pets Unlimited. Its a good move for both shelters, and good for the animals.

Mom doesn't know exactly where they will put the feral kits, the main facility or the Pacific Heights campus, and she isn't sure if they will be renamed, but one can go on-line and see where they turn up in a few weeks.

Now, if only there could be enough finances raised for the shelter at SF Animal Care and Control, which has pretty old school accommodations they could use an overhaul, too..

Hi Whiskers and Family!
I'm so happy that Sugar Bear only has an infection on her nose and not something more serious. She must have gotten a little scratch, or something. And look at her, she's gaining weight, too. Good job, Sugar Bear! Good luck to your Mom with the Clavamox. Giving meds one a day is bad enough, but twice is twice as bad...MOL!

I sure hope Sugar Bear doesn't have to go back to the feral colony. They can't make her do that, can they? I think she is already part of your family, even if she is still outside.

How cute that was of Ebony to be waiting for his furiend. They were meant to be together. And I think all kitties that are confined to a carrier will take off when the door is open, even if they don't go far!

There isn't too much going on around here, today. We've had rain off and on all day, just enough to make a good mess. Shorty and Frosty were here for meals before the rain came. But Frosty spends more time here than elsewhere. Mom has made appointments for her, BC and Molly for Sept. 3rd. That's a day when Dad is home to help. They don't know how Frosty will react to being put into a carrier. I don't know if it's just her way, or not, but if they try to pick her up, she hisses. Dad will use a towel, just to be safe.

Well, sweet furiends, I have to go for now. Dad is working weird hours today and tomorrow and will be home, soon, so Mom has to start getting something ready for supper. It will be late tonight, cuz he gets off at 8pm. Mom hates these hours! So, I'm leaving you a furry vote with love and wishes for a good evening and sweet dreams and lots of prayers. Take care. Love ya!

Hugs and headbonks,
Mischief

Sugar Bear sure got the works at the Vet! Great that Ebony was waiting for her & they are such good friends. Mom went to our shelter today and picked out a kitty to adopt! She plans to bring him home on Saturday. He's orange with a little white on his belly. He was purring up a storm when Mom held him. Then when she put him down, he lead her to the door! MOL. Hi Whiskers
Mom remembers 4 a.m. from when she used to do traffic flagging. She agrees it really was peaceful, driving to jobs at that hour and not too many other people were on the road. Except for that one time she had a flat tire on the way to a job, but she managed. She says sometimes it would be all foggy when she got to the job and she liked that, too.

What she didn't like was being tired at 7:30 and Dad insisting on watching TV till 10 or 11. Well, there's always something!

You know, I think Evie must have written that advice you shared yesterday. She is the queen of upchucking and knows all the tricks. Except she doesn't do it near as much as she used to, Mom makes sure to brush her every day.

MOL, I think Angel Mallow was enjoying having you & Pete in the dunk seat, gave her a little variety. What a great day! -- Mike

Hi K Whiskers
Did you know that today is Cupcake Day? It really, truly is. And we found this amazing story –

Cupcake Day for the RSPCA is a national event held on the third Monday in August. RSPCA is The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which is the voice for the animals in Australia. Since its inception in 2007, Cupcake Day for the RSPCA has raised over $6.5M. All proceeds go to help stop cruelty to animals.

Just look at the power of the cupcake:
•2 cupcakes* = an enrichment toy to keep a dog happy and engaged
•5 cupcakes = litter tray for a kitten or cat to toilet train them
•15 cupcakes = vaccinates a puppy against the deadly parvo virus
•50 cupcakes = spay/neuter cat or dog so it can be rehomed with a furever family
•150 cupcakes = subsidies the costs of prosecuting a cruelty offender

*1 cupcake = $2 donation

These donations have transformed the lives of so many neglected animals and provided them with the help they needed for second chances at better lives. RSPCA defends their dignity and fights to stop cruelty. They offer shelter, education, medical attention and love. They are animal protectors, carers and guardians who bring solace to the abandoned, surrendered and injured animals. They prosecute those who would harm them. And they fight for the humane treatment of all living things.

Isn’t it pawsome that cuppycakes are helping these sweet furbabies?
Purrs to you,
K Casper Todd

Thanks for being a good sport and taking the dunking seat from me for a while. I know, it was amazing what good aim some of our furiends all of a sudden had!

I loved the tips you posted. Another is: If you do your "stuff" make sure that if it is in a couple of places - one of the places is well-hidden. After the one spot is cleaned up, and the cleaning supplies are allllll put away, the other less obvious spot is always discovered! Tee hee.
