She was named Cassandra after a book her mommy read about a beautiful lady who had golden green eyes and long black hair. Yes, we would say this suits Cassandra #205806 to a "t". Cassandra also is a princess around her home. She is pampered and loves attention especially from her human daddy. Cassandra #205806 is dainty and little, weighing in at only six pounds and is the twin to her brother Montgomery George Brown. They were lucky kitties and both were adopted together into their forever home. When the mood strikes her, Cassandra #205806 can hide in the smallest of places and will close the cupboard door behind her leaving it almost impossible to locate her. Cassandra likes hamburgers from Burger King, cheese and hot dogs. She hates being interrupted from her naps and being ignored by her daddy. We are please to introduce this week's Special Recognition Candidate, Percy #245206. Percy came to be at her forever home due to the kindness of a neighbor. The neighbor took in Percy's mom cat and once her litter was born, the human daughter's at her forever home fell in love with her. Percy #245206 stood out because of her wonderful personality. Percy is a prima donna kitty until it is playtime; then watch out! Percy #245206 loves to play with her sibling, Simba, and she enjoys ambushing him. They have a grand time together playing with their toys and each other. Percy is also a talker. She loves to have a conversation and even comes when her name is called. That is smart since a treat may be involved if your name is being called, and Percy #245206 enjoys Temptation treats. She gets a little upset, though, if she is expecting a treat and she is ignored. Percy #245206 can use her paws like furry hands and manages to open things. Percy likes to sit on the back of the recliner and watch her family as she relaxes and observes what is going on. One day a person was walking in the woods and found a mom cat with her litter of kittens. The family was rescued and Peaches #230760 found a forever home. Peaches #230760 is a talented cat and does tricks such as giving a high five, sitting, laying down and he and his human mom are working on teaching him to wave. Peaches #230760 is a smart fellow and enjoys learning new tricks. He gets rewarded for doing these things with treats and Peaches enjoys his treats a lot. Peaches #230760 will sit when his mom snaps her fingers too. Peaches likes to hang out and sleep on his mom's car but she doesn't really like Peaches to sleep there since he gets paw prints on the windows. Peaches #230760 likes to run in the woods and chase creatures and once caught, bring them back to his house as a present to his mom. Verona #230517 is a beautiful Himalayan kitty who is also known to her family as, "The Vicious Clawed Paw", and she loves to play and play and then play some more. Some of the things that Verona #230517 loves to play with are aluminum foil and rubber bands. Verona enjoys dunking rubber bands in her water dish and takes great pleasure in stealing the rubber bands first before giving them a good soaking. Verona #230517 makes a game of chase for her Grandpa and mom when it is time for her to be put in the bathroom for night time sleeping. She insists that they catch her first before she will let them put her in her sleeping quarters. That game keeps her humans active and gives them some exercise before they go to sleep also. Verona #230517 has several furry siblings but she enjoys the company of her brother, Figgaro best. Verona #230517 also has a special tom named Galaxy that she is very fond of. Beautiful Callie spent most of her life with her first momma, Barbara, cousin the CC's beloved Knight Family. Unfortunately, Barbara went to forever sleep in November of last year and Callie was immediately taken in by her cousins. They originally planned to find her a new home but no one responded to the flyers put out all around town. Now, she is a permanent member of the Knight family and the Girl Power Crew. She spends most of her time in a private crate due to her not be fond of other cats, but she is getting better and spending more time out of the crate. From the cloud of the NICE Angels…Beautiful Nala #144744 was the first cat to ever grace the home of the ARL Alumni but it would never have happened without the begging of young son Erik & the presence of a cat at his babysitter’s house. Nala #144744 made such an impression on mom that soon the house was filled with purrs of love from other furry furbabies & their lives without felines became a distant memory. As many of you know Nala #144744 became an angel at 12:34pm on August 29th, 2012 but some of you may not know that her beloved master Erik was away at Marine boot camp when it happened. When he called mom to tell her the good news about completing it & heading home, he naturally asked about his special cat. Mom shared the heartbreaking news with him but he doesn’t know that she’d asked us earlier to do something special for him by doing an ACOTD campaign for his beloved kitty when he got here. We’re asking everyone to please run, pounce or fly to paw a vote to ANGEL NALA #144744 on Friday October 5th. It will not only honor her memory but will also honor the service to our country of Erik, one of our newest Marines!

Philippe & Mei Li #237749 were being cared for at the local animal shelter, and every day they waited in anticipation for their furever family to come along! As it turns out, they were both adopted in 2011, but in different months. Philippe was 4.5 years old when he went home in March with his new loving family, and Mei Li was
1 year old when she was adopted in July! These precious kitties both share the same CC page #237749, but have their own very special purrsonalities! Philippe is a very mellow laid back kitty! And Mei Li is very playful and loves to be petted! They both enjoy sitting by the window and watching the birdies outside, as you can see by the cute photo in their gallery! Whiskers is a remarkable eight year old tuxedo cat who has such a winning purrsonality that everyone who meets him is charmed by his manner and bearing. He began life as the kitten of a feral mother, who delivered her litter in his soon-to-be family’s yard. Under his mom’s loving care, he quickly progressed from a frightened feral kitten to a self-confident, loving member of the family.
He recently earned his silver wings as a member of the Royal Pilot’s Squadron and in addition to organizing K Mike’s bachelor party; he flew a lot load after load of the guests to Pinto Island for the Wedding.
During his flight training, K Pete gave him highest marks and noted that he’d never had a better student. Whiskers applied himself to his studies in diligent manner and was rewarded with one of the highest test scores ever attained on the FAA flight exam. (That’s Feline Aviation Administration) His flight test examiner, Talley, said she felt as though she was flying with an experienced pilot rather than a student.
His mom has a new human grand-kitten (named George) and has been visiting the new arrival. As a result Whiskers has been offline. He should be back on line on Monday. Let’s welcome him back with a bright shiny COTD badge for his page. We can make this happen if we all hit that vote button for this fine member of our CC family

This friendly fellow lives in Charlotte, NC along with his furry sister, Bella and the rest of his human family. Button #235770 was born under his neighbor's porch and he was the runt of the litter. Fortunately for sweet Button #235770, his human family came to the rescue, got him healthy with help from their veterinarian and adopted this sweet kitten. Gypsy, Ellie and Andy are three sweet felines who live happily together, though they have very different personalities. Gypsy was found by her future daddy after being abandoned. She is very loving and enjoys hanging out in the cat tree or the kitchen counter. Ellie was also rescued by her future daddy after being dumped on the side of the road. She can hunt and catch a crinkle ball and loves hanging out in her mom’s room. Andy was found in his future mom’s nephew’s car motor. Just don’t ask him how he got there - he’s not telling. MOL. Our cat breed today is the Burmilla
The Burmilla is a medium-sized cat, but it is also stocky and heavy. This cat is somewhat compact while being very muscular with heavy boning. The Burmilla is a cat that is very rounded. The head is round and the tips of the ears are round. The profile shows a "break," and the eyes are very slightly slanted. The coat of the Burmilla is short and soft. Because of the original pairing, the coat is also thick and dense. In terms of personality, the Burmilla is a fairly placid cat. They tend to be an easy cat to get along with, requiring minimal care. The Burmilla is affectionate and sweet and makes a good companion. Burmillas are good climbers and jumpers and should have cat trees and perches. The Burmilla is a sturdy, stocky cat and you might have to watch his weight carefully, particularly if he does not get enough exercise. Modify his nutrition if you need to do so. While Burmillas are placid cats, they also love their daily playtime. They love being adored by their guardians and having their stomach rubbed and being petted. A daily petting session is a must for any Burmilla. The Burmilla must be brushed daily to remove the loose and dead hairs from the coat. The brushing can be incorporated with its playtime. The Burmilla started out as an accident. In 1981, a Chinchilla Persian male and a Lilac Burmese bred, and the female delivered four kittens. These kittens had an unusual black-tipped coloring. The look of these cats was so attractive that a breeding program was inaugurated to produce a cat that would have the short hair of the Burmese, the roundness taken from both breeds, and the unusual coloring seen in the initial kittens. Today's cat breed is the Peterbald
The Peterbald breed was created during the latter half of 1994 in St. Petersburg, Russia, the result of an experimental mating of a Don Hairless (also known as Don Sphynx, Donskoy or Donsky) male named Afinogen Myth and an Oriental Shorthair female World Champion named Radma von Jagerhov, by Russian felinologist Olga S. Mironova. The first two litters produced four Peterbald kittens: Mandarin iz Murino, Muscat iz Murino, Nezhenka iz Murino and Nocturne iz Murino. These four Peterbalds were the founders of the breed. In 1996, the breed was adopted in the Russian Selectional Feline Federation (SFF) and given a standard and an abbreviation (PBD). It is now recognized by The International Cat Association (TICA) and the World Cat Federation (WCF), and in August of 2008, the American Cat Fanciers Association. Now the breed develops in the direction of modern Oriental and Siamese types, with a long muzzle, large set-apart ears, flat cheekbones, and an elegant body on long legs. Therefore, all standards for this breed encourage mating with Oriental and Siamese cats and semi-longhair variations of those (such as Balinese and Javanese). Effective May 2008, TICA recognizes the "brush coat" Peterbald for Championship competition. Peterbalds are sweet-tempered, affectionate, peaceful, curious, smart and energetic. They are medium vocal and tend to follow their owners and always be with them. Peterbalds typically live in harmony with other cats and pets, and also with children. Peterbalds have an elegantly slim graceful and muscular build. They have a narrow and long head with a straight profile, almond-shaped eyes, wedge-shaped muzzle, and big set-apart ears. They have a long whippy tail, webbed feet and oval paws that allow them to grasp objects and open levered doorknobs. They are somewhat similar in appearance to Oriental Shorthair cats. They have a hair-losing gene and can be born bald, flocked, velour, brush, or with a straight coat. Those born with hair, except the straight-coats, can lose their hair over time. The Peterbald comes in all colors and markings.

Maggie is a beautiful three year old kitty who enjoys hanging out with her mom. She was picked out by her mom’s sister and it was a perfect match. Maggie is a shy kitty and although Maggie’s furever home was full of strange people and animals, she was brave and adapted to become a loving member of the family. She likes to hang out in her grandma’s room, by the window, but she only wants to sleep on her mom’s bed. Maggie is very faithful about supporting our candidates for COTD and COTM, and she’s always there with good wishes for happy occasions and sympathy for sad times. LiLi lives in the state of Florida, which is purrfect since Florida is pretty much surrounded by water and LiLi #223845 loves water! This sweet girl has a cute nickname, Bubblehead, which her family gave her since LiLi #223845 loves to swat at the bubbles that the water makes when it comes out of the faucet. No matter where she is in the house, LiLi #223845 will be on the run to smack those water bubbles and there is no stopping her either. We think that kind of sounds like fun, except for the part about getting our paws wet. LiLi's best furry friend is her brother, Puzzle. LiLi #223845 will follow her Puzzle around the house and she likes to do whatever Puzzle is doing. LiLi also will play fetch with a small ball and loves "da bird" toy. After a very long absence we we're back online...then as you know I crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Dad was heartbroken and through the daily tears caught up with as many friends as possible. Then well the unimaginable happened. Dad kept hearing crys at night but couldn't find where they we're coming from. He thought he was dreaming of me or just hearing things. After a week he was determined to find out where it was coming from. You'll probably guess what came next. Yep! There was a young cat what appeared to be living under the porch. Dad could only get close enough to see it was hurt before it would run away. After a few days of feeding and cooing Dad got it. It was a young male about a year old badly beaten up. Horrible wounds on his neck and legs. Our absence this time came from the huge vet bill that he incurred with this emergency. Huge cutbacks for two months. Still no income yet from the accident....sometime this fall hopefully, anyway many things went bye-bye to pay the dr. bill.....cable, internet, air conditioning(and yes it has been hot). The kitty has recovered and up to date on the bills so internet restored. And my oh my what a surprise to us all to see I was graced with such a reward as COTD! We are so Blessed by the warmth and love shown to us all here on Cat Channel. The kitty has been named Leo, cause dad says he looks like a little lion. Picture up soon hopefully. No one really likes him but for the most part it has been smooth transitioning him into the house. Has helped soften the blow by my absence but I know he still misses me so. Will take a few days to catch up and get all of my Thank You's delivered. Hopefully this will see you well and know that our gratitude for all the blessings bestowed upon will be remembered forever. As I paw slowly away I leave behind a vote(ofcourse) and the biggest hug my little paws will allow.

We invite you to meet Mischief, a 2 year old beauty who brings joy to others as a therapy cat! Mischief was adopted by her wonderful family after she and her 4 littermates were left behind when their owners were evicted. Thankfully they have all found loving homes. Mischief shares her love for life with her family, and fursibs Duchess & Dayzee, as she bounds through the house, makes flying leaps chasing after Da Bird, and enjoys the outdoors, with Mom in tow, although she would prefer to be without her harness & leash!
Mischief’s work as a therapy cat is a very enjoyable experience for everyone! She brings sunbeams of happiness with her and leaves everyone with big smiles! Twice a week, weather permitting, she and Mom make the journey to two nursing homes close to her neighborhood. Although Mischief doesn’t exactly enjoy the car ride, once she’s there, she loves everyone she meets. She sits next to Mom on the couch, and patients come up to pet her and share their kitty stories! Mischief reminds some of them of the kitties they used to have, while other patients are waiting to go home to their kitties. She also visits patients in their rooms if they aren’t able to get out of bed, and leaves her loving pawprint on their hearts! Champagne and Chardonnay are two of the most attractive kitties you will ever meet. Their long orange coats look so perfect that you’d think they were professional models. (They do look a lot like Morris the Cat) They were both feral kittens when they discovered the home and the family that they now are a part of. They came for the food that mom puts out for the feral kitties, but they stayed for the love. Their mom was able to catch them. It took time but their she was able to bring them inside and show them what a loving home is all about. Champagne is very excited right now as he recently became a dad. His son Julius Steven who was born on July third 2012 is the joy of his life. Both Champagne and Chardonnay are still a little skittish about being picked up, but they’re learning to like it a little bit at a time, and their mom has the patience to teach them how nice it is to enjoy a snuggle or a cuddle every now and then. Let’s all do our part to help by sending them lots of votes to show them how much we love and respect them, and in doing so we’ can help them get their very first COTD badge.

So nice to meet you! I am awake and pouncy and ready to really hit the trail! Today's law involves one of our larger cousins. In Maryland, it is illegal to take a lion to the cinema! Thank you for stopping by to congratulate me when I won my first COTD award on 7/6! I apologize for the delay in replying back but it’s very hard to get any blogging done with the family on vacation plus try to keep my kittens rounded up in one place. I’m very grateful for the warm welcome that everyone gave me & my sweet furbabies when we joined CC & was very surprised to win the coveted honor the day after I arrived here.
My babies are growing fast & mom put up some new pics today. Still no luck getting hold of the 2 orange ones, although the short haired one is getting braver each day & coming closer to mom when she feeds. My long haired orange baby is being timid though so he’ll take more time & patience that all the others combined. My tiger striped & white baby are already quite comfortable being picked up & I’m very happy about that! I’m so proud of my litter of kittens & also proud of the honor of earning the COTD badge last week. Thank you again for coming by to congratulate me sweet kitties. I may be shy around strangers but it will be a day that I’ll purr about & remember for a long time to come!

We have a very sweet kitty for you to meet today! Button Blue #121529 adopted her wonderful, loving family 14 years ago, and, as it turns out, she was the “one” they had been hoping to find! This gorgeous Himmy stole their hearts with her beauty, and her gentle and sweet nature. One of Button Blue’s favorite pastimes is to be on the lookout for BLING! She has amassed a collection of shiny items, her very own stash, that she hides away under the couch! If its shiny, she claims ownership, and at one time actually added a shiny silver spoon to her collection! Button Blue also loves to sit in the window, and enjoys watching the birdies as they fly and flit about! Her very favorite special snack is tuna water without any chunks. When she first arrived she wasn’t terribly friendly, but thanks to her Mom’s love and patience, she learned how wonderful it could be to be a part of her furever family. Today’s special recognition kitty is a handsome 4 year old boy that was found under a trailer at the tender age of 5 weeks. His adopted family thought that his mom had abandoned him so they brought him inside to take care of him. A few days later they found out he wasn’t alone in the hidden spot when they saw his mom & more babies emerging from under the trailer. They captured the rest of them but sent them to their local human society to be adopted out to others wanting, or needing, a sweet furbaby. LUDWIG #219098 is happy to be living the luxurious life of an inside kitty & spends hours playing with his toy mouse, looking out windows, & making sure his family gets enough purrs to get them through each day. UPPER BODY WITH A RED BELLY, FINS AND TAIL. SHAPED LIKE A PENTAGON HE WEIGHS FROM 60-200 LBS. HE'D MAKE A WHOLE

~It's a Tuesday Shout-Out~
~Please vote SIR LEO #129433 Tues. June 26th~

Handsome SIR LEO #129433 has had lots of problems with his health since 2009. He’s had teeth pulled, tumors removed, a stroke in Dec 2011 that left him blind in both eyes, high BP that he currently takes meds for, plus had a seizure in April of this year. This would be too much for most kitties to handle but SIR LEO #129433 is a valiant trooper that lets his strong will to live help him overcome the handicaps that these problems have caused him. He traveled with his family in their RV & van for several years & was afraid of everything the first time he went. He quickly overcame that fear & became the door greeter anytime someone would come over to see his pawents. We don’t know how much longer he can travel with his family but we do know that SIR LEO #129433 is one of the sweetest, most loving, & brave kitties we’ve ever had the privilege of knowing! We’d like to let him know how much we love him by asking all of you to pounce over to paw him a COTD vote on Tuesday June 26th so he can hopefully earn another shiny badge for his memory book & also to let his family know how much he means to all of us on CC.

Please keep pawing those daily COTM votes to GRACIE #173246 as she pounces around the channel on her final week of catpaigning before being crowned as our Queen of July!

Cloud Storm is a fine young fellow who is part of a very active CC family. He is named for his uncle Angel Storm Cloud. He’s very laid back but he’s not much of snuggle cat. He prefers to give affection on his own terms. Right now he’s very excited about the fact that he’s soon to be an uncle. Bagheera Boo, his Furmom is about to have babies. He is looking forward to teaching the babies proper feline behavior, and how to wrap humans around their paws. With his charm and handsome good looks he should have no trouble at all. So please, lets all remember to go by on Monday and leave a vote to get Cloud Storm his first COTD badge.
Also, please keep those COTM votes rolling toward Gracie (173246) so this sweet senior kitty can wear the July COTM crown as our Queen. Please remember to stop in to visit our current COTM, Mike (161232), & let him know how much we appreciate the wonderful activities and attractions that he's presented for us, in and around Vancouver BC. Welcome Back Emmy
Princess Diaries: Glad you got your computer fixed...When that happened to us we missed all our friends too..Oh my goodness, it has been hot, hot, hot here at the Jersey Shore…Atlantic City traffic is crowded with people going to the beach every day…Thankfully Mommy and I have stayed put in our apartment with the AC on cold except for when Mommy is working and my visit to Dr. P. my Vet on Thursday…It was my yearly visit, but also Mommy told him I am not jumping like I used to and how I pull my left back leg away from her when she cuts my nails etc….Thankfully I am not in pain but it seems I have Arthritis just like Mommy…Figures I would inherit Mommy’s lousy joints…MOL…And to make matters worse I gained a pound so now I am 12 lbs…Otherwise Dr. P. said I am “purrfect”…So now I have to take Arthritis medicine sprinkled on my food and worse then that I have to have my food cut back…Does this mean I’m on a diet ?...Seems Dr. P. said he doesn’t want me to “get fat” (see I’m not fat Mommy) cause I am less active now (which could cause me to gain weight) and keeping my weight in check will help my joints as well as hopefully keep me from getting Diabetes and other weight related issues…On the upside I got a beautiful new white collar with diamonds and 2 new mice for being such a good girl…I went into my carrier like a champ and was a good girl driving to and from the Vet as well as being really good during my examination…Mommy says I have excellent manners and my behavior is exemplary…Of course it is, I am of Royal Blood and have been taught proper etiquette….Silly Mommy, sometimes she forgets I am not a mere commoner….Oh I almost forgot, since I am allergic to those horrid, vile FLEAS I have to take Advantage forever…Now that just stinks…He, he, he, it does really stink…I mean the smell of Advantage stinks…I am just to funny…Come on Mommy that was really funny…Spoil sport, you have no sense of humor…Oh well, that about sums up my week… I think I will finish visiting with my friends then Mommy and I are going to watch movies today and hang out since she is off from work tonight…See you next week…Purrs, Princess Purrfect

KING MIKEY'S PROSPECTOR BUDDY, OLD ZEKE, WAS QUITE THE COLORFUL CHARACTER, AS PROSPECTORS OFTEN ARE! AND WHO KNEW THAT YOU CAN'T SEE THE GOLD THRU THE BLACK PAN/SAND?? NOT ME!
I THOUGHT SINCE IT'S JUNE, WHY NOT EXPLORE THIS MONTHS BIRTHSTONE: THE MOONSTONE? IT'S GEOGRAPHIC NAME IS "SELENITE" (SELENE IS GREEK FOR MOON). IT'S SO CALLED CUZ IT HAS A NICE SHEEN TO IT....LIKE MOONGLOW. IT HAS MYSTICAL PROPERTIES AS WELL. ANCIENT SAILORS WOULD CARRY THEM OUT TO SEA TO KEEP THEM SAFE. THEY COME IN A WIDE VARIETY OF COLORS, BUT THE RAREST AND MOST PRECIOUS IS THE CLEAR MOONSTONE WHICH HAS A FAINT BLUE TINT. I HAVE MUCH MORE INFO ON THIS MOONSTONE, BUT WILL SAVE IT FOR ANOTHER DAY!!
NOW IT'S TIME TO GET OUT YOUR APRONS & CHEFS HATS FOR TODAY'S TASTY TREAT! ENJOY!
****BLUE MOON SAMMIES
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1/3 cup chili sauce
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup pimento stuffed olive, chopped
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
***Directions: Mix all ingredients and chill. Trim crusts from white or whole wheat bread and spread with mixture. Cut into three strips for sandwiches. Can also be molded and served with crackers or melba toast rounds. Feed the cut-off crusts to any birds that are hanging about!
SET A NICE TABLE OUT ON THE CATIO, HAVE YOUR FRIENDS OVER AND ENJOY THIS ONCE IN A BLUE MOON TREAT!
SERVE WITH RASPBERRY LEMONADE & PURRTATO SALAD! BON APETITE!
