Cat Grooming

Quick Tips: Why Grooming Is Important

Proper coat care provides health benefits. Learn eight ways regular grooming can help your cat.

Veterinarians, breeders and groomers recommend that most cats receive some sort of grooming on a regular basis for a variety of reasons. Here are eight ways grooming helps your cat:

1. Decreases hairballs.

2. Controls fleas.

3. Keeps the cat (and therefore your home) cleaner.

4. Keeps matting to a minimum.

5. Allows the cat more freedom of movement.

6. Removes dead skin/fur.

7. Degreases the coat.

8. Avoids the chance that elimination would be impeded.

My cats also enjoy being combed. They all have their specific places they like to be combed. So depending on where I am in the house determines which cat comes to be groomed.

I find grooming my cats relaxing for both them and me. It is a great way to spend time together.
