My big wedding day finally came on Saturday, Feb. 6. It was a wonderful celebration of our new family and of mine and Kevin’s marriage. I did a lot of do-it-yourself projects for the wedding to both save money and to personalize it.
One thing I really wanted to try and do was to include my cat Stitch in the wedding somehow. I brainstormed some ideas: including a small cat toy as part of our wedding topper; including a photo of him somewhere in our blended family sand ceremony; including a photo of Stitch in our handmade table toppers. In the end I found a great way to represent Stitch and my parents’ cat, Gordita.
I found cat plush toys that best resembled them and I sewed them onto the ring bearer's pillow and the flower girl basket. It worked out great! Not only did I include my families’ cats in the wedding, but my flower girl, Paige, and ring bearer, Tristan, had something comfy to play with during the wedding and had a special keepsake from the wedding. Tristan has been sleeping curled with his Stitch cat the last couple of days.
I’ve included a few photos to show you them.
Here is my youngest stepson Tristan with a plush cat toy representing Stitch sewn onto his pillow. |
My niece Paige has a plush cat toy representing Gordita sewn onto her basket. |
And, of course, here is a photo of my wedding dress. This is me and my younger sister, Alexandra, who was my maid of honor. |
We’re all awaiting for the weekend when Stitch is coming home from my parents’ house. All of us are really starting to miss him, especially since he’s been gone for two weeks. He is definitely a part of this family.
