Stitch amid his paper goods. |
Hello, my name is Crystal and my cat Stitch is a paper addict.
He cannot resist a good pile of papers set aside for recycling. He doesn’t play with it or
chew it like I’ve heard of other cats doing. In fact, I’ve discovered that he has a need to sit or lie on any material made of paper. He especially prefers newspapers and rolled up newspapers to take a good nap on.
I’ve noticed that all of the cats I’ve grown up with have not had an issue in lying on unusually shaped things. However, when it comes to Stitch’s preferences, he’d prefer paper.
Just the other day he was lying on the couch as I walked in with the mail. I set aside a couple of paper fliers with useful coupons and placed it on the growing pile of school fliers and announcements. I threw the rest of the junk mail in the recycling bin and came back to find Stitch perched on top of the pile of papers on the desk. I probably should have known better. If it’s left out, then that’s obvious permission that he has the right to it. That is how it’s worked with his fondness for lying on bags at least.
I didn’t know if it was the smell of the ink, the texture of the newspaper material, or if even the 50 percent off coupon that attracted him, but it didn’t take long for him to park his furry butt down on top of it. He sat there for a good 15 minutes until the sound of birds fighting outside caused him to abandon the paper and dash over to the window.
Do any of your cats have a curious attraction to paper like Stitch does? I watched this cat video of Club Cat member Sonny playing with paper. Perhaps I should arrange a paper play date for the two. Who needs fancy cat toys and beds when I get free ads in the mail every other day?
