Maybe Gordita doesn't hate me after all. Here she is, right, curled up next to me, Stitch, during our nap. |
My mom is getting married this weekend. She had fun ribbons and paper boxes lying around our home. I wasn’t allowed to play with any of them though. I found this very unfair. What I also find unfair is that my mom has dropped me off at her parent’s house. Although I have no complaints about getting to gaze out at the Pacific Ocean and watch hummingbirds, I am not a fan of having to stay with their cat
Gordita.
Gordita and I are not best friends. She used to hiss at me when my mom would bring me with her for overnight holiday stays. And when Gordita lived with us for about a year, she would pick on me, eat a lot of the food first, and chase me around the house. Just because she’s 10 years old I think Gordita feels she is the boss. I’m not much of a fighter but I have been standing up to her from time to time. In fact, the second night staying over here I won the fight of who got to sleep on the bed with the humans.
I secretly think Gordita likes me. There have been many times where I’ve fallen asleep and woken up to find Gordita snuggled up next to me. And when my mom wasn’t looking sometimes we would sit paw to paw. But the moment my mom saw us, Gordita would swipe at me. She even licked me a couple of times on my face.
This lady cat confuses me. Gordita made a big production of hissing at me, pouting around in her parents’ room and yelling at my mom when we first
arrived there on Saturday. However, I had no problem igniting her temper by following her around the house from a safe distance. It annoyed her and greatly entertained me. I like to think of it more as playing though.
I think my mom is very glad Gordita and I will have each other while they are
away at the wedding this weekend. As much as Gordita picks on me it’s nice to have another cat around for the hours the
cat sitter isn’t here, even if it is Gordita.
