Stitch asleep on Korbin's backpack. |
One thing I learned early on from when I first brought Stitch home from the rescue is he is a fan of bags. He likes to lie on bags. He likes to sit on bags. He especially likes to sleep on bags. I think he really liked living with my sister because not only did she have a lot of bags and purses, but she used to leave them lying around the house. It was a regular occurrence to hear her say “Stitch, leave my bag/purse alone!” Stitch especially likes my mom’s purse. He rubs his furry face all over it and then plays with one of the fun “cat toys” hanging off of it. You can watch him in action
here. One thing I’ve learned early on from moving in with the boys is they have a hard time remembering to put their stuff away. Especially their school stuff. They come home and leave a trail of coat, backpacks and shoes across the floor. Outside of learning responsibility for one's things, I’ve also warned the boys that leaving stuff out is a way of telling Stitch that he has their permission to use it.
They don’t usually believe me until they wake up to find a coat or backpack covered in
silvery gray cat fur. And if they start to complain I kindly remind them of my warning and that it’s their own fault for leaving the item out. In the last year they have gotten much better about putting their things where they belong. However, there is still a moment from time to time when a coat or a backpack is left out in our living room.
It is these moments that Stitch patiently waits for, especially the left-out backpack moments. And then he pounces upon the opportunity for a nice snooze on a nice comfy backpack.
Do any of your cats enjoy catching a cat-nap on any of your left-out items?
