Some of you may recall Stitch has a preference for free-flowing water when it comes to drinking. His persistence in drinking water out of the shower when his
cat fountain died pushed me to hurry up and buy him a new one. Well, I’ve discovered Stitch has a new drinking habit. He is a window licker.
Stitch’s favorite perch is up in the corner of our two front windows. He sits his bottom half on one window sill and spans across with his front paws to the other window sill. Some morning our windows have condensation dripping inside. I try my best to wipe it up along with the window sills and then a quick wipe with a vinegar and water solution to help prevent mold. But other mornings I let it sit and dry in the sunshine.
It was one of those other mornings that I walked into the kitchen to find Stitch licking the condensation off of the window.
“Excuse me?” I asked him. “You have fresh-flowing water over in your fountain. What is this?”
Stitch looked at me like he had no clue what I was talking about. He jumped down from the window and walked right past me, bumping his shoulder into my shin and wrapping his tail around my leg.
I didn’t know if he was trying to tell me something about his water fountain or not. I did make sure that it was full of water as the filter was newer and not quite yet ready for a change. Or perhaps he was just being a lazy cat and figured “Eh, I’m thirsty and there’s water right here.” The latter made the most sense to me. This is the cat that used to drag his wand toys over in front of the heater during the winter time so that he could lie down and play in a warm spot.
