Dr. Katrina Warren has the answers to cat-behavior questions on the returning series “Housecat Housecalls.”
Are you in a quandary about your cat’s behavior? Dr. Katrina Warren, BVSc, the host of Animal Planet’s returning series “Housecat Housecall,” might have the answer you’re looking for.

Thank goodness Animal Planet has seen fit to add another cat-centered show to their lineup. Previously, “Cats 101” was the only cat show I could find.

“Housecat Housecall,” sponsored by Purina Cat Chow, is a nice concept. Each episode takes the concerns of two cat families, who ask Dr. Katrina for advice. In the first episode, airing at 10:30 a.m. EDT/PDT on Saturday, June 6, Dr. Katrina visits a family with a pair of active Burmese kitties — a little too active. They like to climb in high places and the owners are worried about the cats’ safety. The other featured family has a new baby, and are concerned about helping their cat Buddy make a smooth transition to having an infant in the house.

Dr. Katrina, with her pleasant manner and soothing Aussie accent, consults with a couple of veterinarian specialists, then offers the families some solutions. She checks back a few weeks later to see how the situation is going.

What’s particularly nice about the show is seeing the obvious bond between the owners and their cats, and the way the owners place a high priority on the cats’ needs and resolving their issues before they become real problems.

So if Dr. Katrina happens to ring your doorbell in the future, by all means, welcome her in — and give the new show a try.

(There will be encore reruns of the episodes at 8 a.m. Sundays, according to Animal Planet.)
