Are they unbelievably cute or unbelievably bizarre? That was my reaction when I first watched the Jingle Cats' Christmas DVD.
The Jingle Cats are the brainchild of a studio engineer in Los Angeles named Mike Spalla. As legend has it, one day a kitten named Cheesepuff got into the studio and began meowing along with a track of "Jingle Bells" that Spalla was working on.
Spalla edited the meows in sync to the music, and voila, a holiday-novelty craze was born. Throw in the video version, which has cute kitties meowing away to Christmas tunes such as "Silent Night," "What Child Is This" and "Up on the Rooftop," and it's a home run.
The Jingle Cats are slightly bizarre to watch, but also strangely hypnotic and soothing after a while.
Check it out with your cats — I'll bet they love it!
