Miss Precious must wear her pink cast for two months. |
I received an email from one of my pet-sitting clients, Helen, last week with a picture of one of her kitties. Miss Precious had a pink cast with a butterfly on it on her left hind leg. Somehow she had fractured her leg.
Helen left home early one morning. When she returned home that night, Precious was limping and could not put any weight on her back leg. Helen was astute enough to take her to the veterinarian right away.
It’s a good thing she did; X-rays showed a fracture. Helen can’t figure out how it happened as nothing was knocked over or out of place in her home. She thought Precious may have caught a claw in the rug but the vet checked her paws and saw no evidence of that. So it remains a mystery.
Precious will need to wear her girly cast for about two months and then will be good as new. The first day or two she was having some difficulty navigating with the cast on and Helen kept a close eye on her and picked her up as necessary. She is getting better at getting around now as evidenced by the picture I received today of Precious lounging on the couch.
If you observe your kitty limping or acting out of the ordinary, be sure to get her checked out. If Helen hadn’t acted as quickly as she had, Precious would have been suffering. I’m very happy to hear she’ll be fully mended soon.
