Meeser, left, and Baby were inseparable.

Love has been described as a devoted attachment to an individual. My cats certainly meet that definition and show it in many ways.
My
Meeser, who passed away two years ago from kidney disease, demonstrated his love for me and his other kitty housemates in many ways. His nickname was “Velcro kitty” because any time I sat down, Meeser was attached to my left leg and lap. He would start purring if I called his name or looked at him. If I was down, Meeser would come up and put his paw gently on my cheek. He was very vocal and if he could not find me, he would yowl until I answered him then come running to wherever I was.
When Baby joined our household, Meeser immediately took to him. Baby’s first night home, he and Meeser slept curled up together. They shared a special bond until Meeser’s passing. After Meeser was gone, Baby showed signs of grieving and it took him several months to get over it.
Baby, left, spent his first night at home curled up with Meeser. |
Baby shows his love for me by sitting on the arm of the sofa and curling up in my right arm. I give him kisses and he kisses me back. He loves to mark me as his own by rubbing his cheeks on my face.
My girls are also very affectionate. Chloe loves to be close to me whenever she can. She’ll sit on my lap or stand by me and meow until I pet her. She has a special trilling sound that is something between a meow and a purr.
Zooey has taken up the spot by my left leg vacated by Meeser. She also will jump into my arms from the floor if she wants attention, then lick my ear. And both girls love to rub up against me whenever possible.
If I am on the couch, Baby is on the arm chair, Chloe is on my lap and Zooey is right beside me. At night, they all have their special spots on the bed. Baby likes to sleep between my legs, Zooey sleeps close to my side, and Chloe will sit on me or on the side opposite Zooey.
All my cats visibly demonstrate the great affection we feel for each other. How about your kitties — do they have special ways to show their love?
