Baby makes a nest in the pillows. |
Cats were revered by the ancient Egyptians, and my cats have never forgotten this. They think every soft, cushy surface in the house is there only for their use. Among their favorite places are the pillows on my bed.
Like many people, I like having a few pillows on the bed for decoration. OK, it is more than a few – I have total of 10 pillows. Every night I take them off and pile them in a chair and every morning I put them back. That’s the moment my cats are waiting for. They can’t wait for the pillows to get back on the bed so they can make a nest in them.
Chloe, Baby and Zooey share the recliner at Suzanne Stowe's place. |
Baby hides himself among the pillows and settles in for long naps there. Zooey also likes the nest approach and will reorganize the pillows a little to suit her needs. Chloe often climbs aboard the pile of pillows in the chair and sleeps on top of them all.
When the pillows aren’t that appealing, or the cats want to be close to me in the living room, the couch and cushy recliner meet their needs. I have a soft throw over the back of the recliner and Baby and Chloe will fight over that prime spot. Sometimes they enact a truce and sleep together on the back of the chair. Zooey will often sleep in the chair seat next to another pillow. If it’s soft, it appeals to them.
I indulge my cat’s desire to be treated like royalty and have deemed them “The Pillow Pusses” due to their propensity to sleep among the pillows. If it was good enough for the Egyptians to revere cats, who am I to argue?
Where do your favorite felines like to nap? I bet you are just as indulgent as I am!
