This is the Cheboygan County Humane Society’s largest fundraiser of the year and an annual one that has been going on for about 15 years. It takes donations throughout the year for the sale, and it takes the society almost a week to set up everything. Most items are not priced but are available on a donation basis. All of the proceeds go to support the shelter and the animals. It always has a wide selection of items: from books, to clothes, to house wares, bikes, toys, lots of furniture and more. Jethro’s Place Animal Sanctuary Microchip Clinic (Michigan)
Saturday, Aug. 26 - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pet Supplies Plus
64920 Van Dyke
Washington Twp, MI
Protect Your Pet! Each year more than 250,000 dogs and cats are killed in Michigan shelters. Many are strays that are never reunited with their families. State law gives an owner only four days to find their lost pet. After that, the pet becomes the shelter’s property. The shelter then can sell the pet to research, euthanize it or adopt the pet to a new home. One of the best ways to get a lost pet returned is through microchipping. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is inserted between the shoulder blades, much like a vaccination. When scanned, the chip provides an i'd number that is registered to the owner. Jethro’s Place Animal Sanctuary is microchipping pets for $25, which includes registration. For more information, call (586) 752-2800 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
