Gracie, above, is unimpressed with the unearthing of an ancient statue that may have been dedicated to the Egyptian cat goddess Bastet. |

Recently, a statue was unearthed in Egypt that may have been dedicated to the ancient cat goddess, Bastet. Apparently, all those dedications on Egyptian radio of “Three Times a Lady” weren’t enough. Anyway, Gracie just found out about this. Boy, is she ticked. Here is her response:
Life is so depressing sometimes. Unemployment, health-care troubles and the new Mel Gibson movie just opened big. Then, there’s this cat goddess business. I thought I was the only cat goddess. And where’s this Cairo, anyway? It sounds totally fake!
Apparently, this cat statue was found in the ruins of an old temple. However this presupposes that the original theories of Ptolemaic experts were wrong, because the sculpture isn’t consistent with the architecture of the time. These clowns should get their history right ...
I know. Maybe I’m a descendant! I’ve often thought there was a regal cast to my eyes. And sometimes, Peter fans me and feeds me peeled grapes. Unfortunately, he won’t wear a loincloth. But life isn’t perfect.
Anyway, I’ve included two pictures. One of me, one of Bastet. See the resemblance? The noble brow, the curvy hips? Maybe if Peter will spring for Past Life Regression Therapy, I’ll discover that I lived in Egypt centuries ago. I floated on a barge. Made men go to war with a wink of my whiskers. You know, I use to laugh at the idea of reincarnation. But now, I must admit, there might be something to it after all.
