Lily

Cat Lily

I was driving across the Mobile Bay Bridge when I spotted what appeared to be a cat on the bridge wall. As I passed by, looking directly at the object, I was stunned to discover that it was a cat! A little, black kitten was clinging to the guard wall and I was determined to save it. After making a 10-mile detour I went back across the bridge driving slowly as I prayed and scanned the wall for the scared black cat.

I was thankful when I spotted her and pulled over into the side lane. Cars rushed by at 60 and 70 mph. I took my jacket off and grabbed a can of cat food I had just purchased. The traffic subsided and I got out of my truck. My heart pounded as I felt the bridge vibrate beneath my feet. Cars and 18-wheelers passed by at terrifying speeds. When I made it across the bridge I noticed the frightened kitten had a bloody chin. I placed the food in front of her as a distraction. She was reluctant to look away from me but finally looked down at the food. Immediately I wrapped my jacket around her. My heart leapt as I caught her safely and wrapped her. I waited as vehicles past by and placed her in the passenger seat.

When I arrived at the vet, assistance was needed to detach her from under the seat. The vet examined her and said she appeared fine except for scabs and bruises on her paws and the blood on her chin. Though we had five other cats I couldn't imagine finding a home for her. My wife and I decided to keep her and named her Lily.

What a heartwarming story and how wonderful that this man took the time to rescue this terrified kitten. She looks sooooo much like my late Mr. Toby, whom I lost to kidney failure. Yeah to you sir.

A heart-warming story. How could they not adopt such a sweet cat! I wouldn't mind taking Lilly home with me.
