Happy New Year to all my readers. Each year at this time I like to share some resolutions that I think are practical and beneficial for both you and your wonderful cats. Wishing you a terrific year and please feel free to post some of your own suggestions in comments.
• Treat your cat to a “donut” cat bed. They are cozy, inexpensive and you can place them nearly anywhere for your cat to snuggle.
• Donate to your local shelter in your cat’s name. Even a few dollars helps cats in need.
• Ask your vet about cat dental health. If your cat will agree to have her teeth brushed (not all do) you can add that to daily grooming, which should include brushing please.
• Wash your cat’s bedding regularly.
• Keep your cats out of houseplants by growing indoor “cat grass” sold in pet stores.
• Invest in a new litterbox. Odors and bacteria can form in older cat boxes.
• Help overweight cats slim down. Diet cat foods can work wonders. Also have plenty of fresh water available.
• If you have an indoor/outdoor cat, consider making him indoors only this year. It’s much safer and healthier.
• Cats really do appreciate quality time with you so please set aside some moments daily for interactive play, gentle petting and TLC — and don’t forget the cat food treats!
Good News! My new book, "Cat Calls: Wonderful Stories and Practical Advice from a Veteran Cat Sitter" with CAT FANCY editor Susan Logan is now available in stores and online. Please click here for more information.
