Kitten-Proof Your Home

Like a curious child, your kitten wants to explore every inch of your home. Make sure it is safe.

You have a combination safe cracker, escape artist, mountain climber and X-treme sports fanatic on your hands, and she's utterly clueless about life in the human world. But you're in charge, so consider your strategies carefully. You'll end up with a safer environment for your new family member, and for yourself as well.

I found Kitty-Proof Your Home, very informative. I haven't had a kitten in almost 20 years, it's just like have a toddler. Thank you for the suggestions.

When my Jazmin arrived over a year ago (she is an indoor cat), my husband and I kitten-proofed the entire house the next few days that followed. We blocked the bed so she can't get under it, we put foams between the washing machine and dryer so she couldn't get in between and get herself stuck. We covered every hole in the house we could think of and kept her off the back room cause that's where the computers are and there are tons of wires hooked up there. We did everything we could but sometimes she still finds a way to climb and get into places. Bottom line is, no matter how much you try to kitten-proof your house, they can still get into places so you have to be aware of them all the time...just like watching over a 2-yr old kid. With me, I had to be constantly aware of whereabouts cause she is just naturally curious. That was why we got her a collar and attached a teeny bell on it..that way I know where to locate her.

I read this article hoping to find some helpful hints, but they weren't here. I'm smart enough to know what things that I need to protect my furry kids from, but you'd think an article like this would have more than just what to avoid....but HOW!
