This breed has some traits of the Siamese, Balinese and Colorpoint Shorthair combined into one.

Javanese © Helmi FlickLovers of the Javanese breed like to describe their cats as having the intelligence and refinement of the Siamese, the luxurious coat of the Balinese, and the rainbow of colors of the Colorpoint Shorthair. Combined in one cat, these qualities win over many fans.

The beautiful cats get their name from the island neighboring Bali (namesake of the Javaneses cousin). The breed has been around about as long as the Balinese, as longhaired cats were born into litters of Colorpoint Shorthair kittens. Observant breeders recognized the cats show qualities, and the breed was accepted for championship status in the Cat Fanciers Association in 1986.

Not sure which color suits you? Breeders will tell you that each color of Javanese seems to elicit a certain personality. Want a loving pet? Choose a red or cream point kitten. Looking for a more stately, regal cat? Consider a lynx point. Whichever color you choose, you're sure to fall hard for your lovely Javanese kitten.
