Kitten Breeding

Kitten History: Oriental Longhair

This kitten is known by its fans as "a study in sleekness and elegance."

Stacy Hackett

Oriental Longhair © Helmi FlickThis kitten owes its long, lean body, large almond-shaped eyes, outgoing personality and vocal nature to its cousin, the Siamese. In fact, the Oriental Longhair is just one of many breeds descended from the venerable Siamese. However, he gets his long, silky fur from the Balinese and Javanese breeds.

While the longhaired version of the Oriental Shorthair has been showing up in litters for many years, the Oriental Longhair was not accepted for registration in the Cat Fanciers Association until 1995.
