Cat Litter
Cat litter was not always as it appears today. Before the 1940s, indoor cats had to use sand or wood ashes. Then clay cat litter came along and, ultimately, clumping cat litter. But the cat litter innovations didn’t stop there. Advances in cat litter odor-fighting and dust-fighting followed, to make cat litterbox management more comfortable for cats and cat owners.
Today, cat owners can choose from several options beyond clay cat litter. Some of these alternative litters are corn cat litter, wheat cat litter, soy cat litter, pine cat litter or wood or bark cat litter. Each alternative cat litter has its own winning quality. Corn cat litter, for example, absorbs ammonia and binds is, reducing the odor of cat urine. Another alternative cat litter, wheat, absorbs cat urine and naturally binds it. Naturally strong-scented pine works well as a cat litter that reduces odors.

Litterbox Problems
Cats can be trained easily to use the litterbox, but even the best-trained cats can run into trouble sometimes. Some common cat litterbox problems plague cat owners on a regular basis.
A common cat litterbox problem occurs when a cat or other pet decides to use the litterbox for something besides its intended purpose. Dogs and cats have been known to use the litterbox as a playground and, worse, some dogs and cats use the litterbox as a snackbar.
Another case of cat litterbox problems is the cat who eliminates outside of the litterbox. This affects many cats, and several reasons could lead a cat to urinate outside of the litterbox. Causes such as an overcrowded cat box, a dirty litterbox or a litterbox in a vulnerable location are a few.
