Artists' Guidelines

If you would like to submit your art to CAT FANCY, please review our artists' guidelines.

CAT FANCY magazine is a consumer magazine dedicated to the love of cats.

Illustrations:

We occasionally assign freelance artists to illustrate specific stories. For special assignments,
we pay $75 to $150 for full-page, four-color illustrations, and $35 to $75 for spot illustrations.

If you would like to be considered for assignments, send a few samples of your cat-related work.
Tear sheets or photographs of illustrations are acceptable. Samples will not be returned.

Cartoons:

We occasionally use single-panel cartoons as filler. Cartoons must feature a cat or cats and should fit single-column width (2¼) or double-column width (4½). We pay $35 for each cartoon used. We will not return sample materials without a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Rights and payment:

BowTie, Inc. pays following publication. We pay in the latter part of the cover month in which your artwork appears (i.e., if your work appears in the November issue, we will send you a check in the latter part of November). You will receive two complimentary copies of the issue that contains the artwork.

We buy one-time publication rights; the nonexclusive right to use the artwork in electronic media;
and the nonexclusive right to use the artwork, as well as your name, image and biographical data in advertising and promotion.

Send illustration samples or cartoons to:

Submitting cartoon art by email would be very much better than sending in a hard copy via regular mail. It's your magazine, of course, but submission of cartoons via digital would be a further help to both you and the artists.
