What was the reason for your most recent pet store “impulse” purchase?
I liked the special display
I watched a demonstration
Someone in store recommended it
The item was on sale
The item had a promotion I liked
It was a new item I wanted to try
I liked the way it looked
I didn’t make an impulse purchase

CAT FANCY Editor's Note

One for the Team

By Susan Logan

I traveled during much of this issue's production cycle, and it occurred to me while relaxing on a plane that I don't say thanks nearly enough. So at the risk of sounding so sickeningly sweet that you might develop a toothache, I thought I'd introduce you to the team that works hard to produce this magazine each month.

If you look at the masthead on the left-hand side of this page, you'll see Managing Editor Annie Shirreffs' name right below mine. The relationship between an editor and managing editor is one of co-leadership. The editor is responsible for a magazine's content and vision, while the managing editor manages the process so the magazine gets in readers' hands on time. Sometimes those two objectives are in direct conflict. I have to focus single-mindedly on the content of this magazine without being rushed; Annie constantly has to prioritize my and the rest of the team's workflow. This magazine would not be what it is without her organizational skills, plus her eye for great photography.
