Hit the Road - With Your Cat
Tips for a feline-friendly adventure.

When people think about going on a road trip with their pets, dogs usually come to mind. Yet traveling with your cat can be a fun experience, provided both of you are well prepared.
Before packing your cat up and hitting the road, you'll need to think about whether your cat has the temperament to handle such an adventure. "Cats that do best when traveling are curious, but not too mischievous," says Jill Goldman, PhD, a certified applied animal behaviorist practicing in Laguna Beach, Calif. "They are also sociable, easy-going, adaptable, relaxed, trusting and confident."
Cats typically don't handle changes in their environment as well as dogs do - especially if they were not exposed to different environments as kittens - so, it takes a special cat to have all these qualities.
