When to Ask for a Second Opinion

Learn the signs that you need additional veterinary advice.

You and your veterinarian work as a team to keep your cat healthy. Most of the time Team Kitty functions like clockwork; everyone understands the strategies and pulls off some great plays. Occasionally, however,  you — the team’s owner — encounter problems with the manager or a player. Sometimes a specialized player, like a kicker or oncologist, needs to take the field. Field goal — score; everyone wins.

What happens when you and the veterinarian aren’t strategizing well? What do you do when you don’t like the way the veterinarian is handling your case, or you question his or her expertise? It might be time to make a trade.
