A Better Future for Cats

A new organization is dedicated to raising the status and well-being of our feline friends.

Cats were treated as gods in ancient Egypt yet killed by the millions in the Middle Ages. “They went from being gods to garbage,” says Robert Rohde, president of Dumb Friends League and vice chair of the CATalyst Council. Today, the cat’s status falls somewhere in between but definitely not as high as it should be. One organization is doing something about it. The CATalyst Council, made up of pet industry, veterinary and animal welfare groups, developed out of concern that cats might not be getting the respect they deserve.
