In the snow-covered mountains of central Asia lives the beautiful and elusive snow leopard, what local villagers call the “ghost of the mountains.” Its range covers 12 different countries and, behind the tiger, it is the second most endangered big cat in the world. Thankfully, the International Snow Leopard Trust is working to save these magnificent cats.
“There are only between 3,500 and 7,000 left in the wild,” says Brad Rutherford, the trust’s executive director.
