Open the front door to many cat owners’ homes, and they will usually rush to close it quickly behind you. It’s an age-old tale: The innate drive tempting some cats outside challenges most owners’ desire to keep their pets safely inside. Whenever a door opens, these cats attempt the five-second dash to freedom. A fun way to circumventing these sprinters, however, is to allow them to walk outside on your terms by training them to accept a harness and lead.

Not only is it something I've been looking into doing with one of my curious cats, but I've read various articles by Mary Anne Miller in the past. This is the first I've seen her published in Cat Fancy though! Ms. Miller seems to be a wealth of knowledge and seems to care very deeply for her animals. Her advice seems very practical and uncomplicated. In the past her articles have helped me to look beyond my own fears, concerns, etc., to really do what is best for my furkids. I'd love to read more articles by this author in the future!
