Born to Love

New studies show that human-feline affections could have a biological basis.

Humans have tried to understand the bond that they have with their cats and dogs, and that quest has led to different theories. One of the newest shows that this bond is based in biology.

The late Johannes Odendaal, author of the book “Pets and Our Mental Health” (Vantage Press, 2002), furthered this quest by conducting an experiment measuring changes in the brain chemistry of both dogs and owners while the owners petted their dogs.
