Spencer’s librarians weren’t expecting to find a shivering kitten wedged in the library book drop on the coldest day of the new year in 1988.
“He was half frozen, half starved, and his footpads were frozen and peeling off,” says Vicki Myron, then director of Spencer, Iowa’s public library. “He purred through his whole bath and the minute he walked into my arms, it was my first thought to make him a library cat.”
