Living Free animal sanctuary saves cats whose time is almost up.

A winding two-lane road near Palm Springs, Calif., goes high into the pristine San Jacinto mountains where, for almost three decades, the Living Free animal sanctuary has tirelessly worked to find homes for the homeless.

The cage-free shelter, located just outside the alpine village of Idyllwild, is on 150 acres once considered sacred healing grounds by the Cahuilla Indians.
