If you’re one of the 29.1 million Americans who travels with your cat or other pet, you’re always on the lookout for the finest resorts to visit. Here’s our top 10 list of pet-friendly resorts.

1. FireSky Resort and Spa, Scottsdale, Ariz.
The FireSky Resort and Spa offers in-room spa services, a “Finicky Feline Pampering Kit,” Yappy hour, a catnip toy, a map of pet-friendly restaurants nearby and grooming services. Its complimentary Guppy Love program is available on request. Rates begin at $130.

2. The James Chicago
This luxury hotel offers a Pet Travel Kit, which includes a Prime House pet menu, spa services, catnip toys and a pet tourist map. Dine on David Burke’s pet menu, featuring delicacies, such as salmon and tuna tartar tower with crème fraîche, poached salmon and chicken paillard with liver snap. After-dinner mints are always included! Rates begin at $259.

3. Soho Grand, New York
This hotel is owned by Hartz Mountain Industries, so you know they love pets! Perks include kitty room service, litterboxes, beds and kennels. Ask the concierge about specialized pet grooming, daycare, veterinarian services and pet limos. Rates begin at $309 per night.

4. W Hotel, New Orleans
Pet turn-down service each night includes a special treat for kitty. Don’t forget to check out the in-room pet massages, home-baked treats, playtime, Evian water, special pet videos, pet coats (for rainy days) and custom pet beds. Rates begin at $179.

5. Palace Hotel, San Francisco
Services include temporary ID tags, designer pet beds and specialized “Heavenly Pet Bed” duvets. Rates begin at $569.

7. Ritz Carlton, Central Park, New York

8. Algonquin Hotel, New York
Visit Matilda, the resident feline who has carte blanche at this historic hotel. You and your cat are sure to enjoy a quiet stay in a historic landmark. Walks are available at $25 per hour. Rates begin at $299.

9. Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel, Santa Monica, Calif.
Give your kitty the room service she deserves with entrees that include fresh salmon and rice. Pet-sitting and veterinary services also are available. Rates begin at $120. 
 
10. The Langham, Boston
Allow the concierge to escort your favorite feline around the elegant property while you’re off at a museum. When you arrive home, you’ll be treated to a purr. Rates begin at $249. A 15 to 20 minute walk for a cat or dog costs $25.

I'm not sure how much others spends on hotels when they are traveling, but I know that the majority of these are something I could afford. I'm not a "cheap motel" type of person, so I generally spend $100/night regardless if I take my pets or not. This is the same rate as any normal hotel would offer and many of them don't even charge a deposit. Loved the article!
